Medal of Honor in Unreal Engine 5.5-2

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault’s Scuttling the U-529 Mission looks incredible in Unreal Engine 5.5

Medal of Honor fans, here is something special for you today. YouTube’s ‘Jos van Laar’ shared a video, showing the Scuttling the U-529 mission from Medal of Honor: Allied Assault in Unreal Engine 5.5.

In this mission, the player steps into the boots of Mike Powell as they infiltrate the Norwegian submarine base, undercover and under pressure. This video will give you a pretty good idea of what a modern-day remake of this classic Medal of Honor game would look like. So, be sure to check it out.

To help you see how much better the fan remake looks compared to the original game, there’s also a video of the original version included below. Watching both will give you a clear idea of the big jump in graphics and quality.

The fan remake doesn’t just look better, but it improves almost everything. The visuals are sharper, the lighting is more realistic, and the textures have way more detail. It looks incredible. Plus, it was created by only one person. Now that’s impressive.

And even with all these upgrades, the remake still keeps the heart of the original game. The dark, moody atmosphere is still there, and the art style feels the same, just with a fresh new look.

The only thing I can critique is the lip syncing. As you will see, it looks kind of bad. Other than that, Jos van Laar was able to provide an incredible fan remake. So, if you loved Allied Assault, I highly recommend watching the video.

Sadly, this project was created for portfolio purposes. In other words, there is no download link so that you can run it on your PC. That’s a bummer, but hey, it’s at least something cool to watch.

Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you should also check out the following fan projects. For instance, you can find some faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool. A few months ago, we also shared an amazing remake of Toy Story 2. Then there’s this cool fan remake of Metal Gear Solid. Let’s also not forget this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Oh, and don’t miss the Grand Theft Auto 6 fan concept in UE5; it’s pretty impressive. In February 2024, we also shared fan remakes of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and GTA 3, as well as an Uncharted fan game. We also have a remaster of Unreal Gold and a cool fan remake of Doom 3. You should also watch the full-on remake video for Final Fantasy 9, and this HD-2D Fan Remake for Xenogears.

Need for Speed Carbon and Tony Hawk’s Underground have also received some cool remakes. Oh, and there is a fan remake of Tomb Raider The Last Revelation, featuring Angelina Jolie and Christoph Walz. And if that’s not enough, there are fan remakes for Star Wars: Republic CommandoDeath StrandingFallout 4Grand Theft Auto 4Need for Speed: Most WantedFallout 4Resident Evil 1, and Silent Hill 3’s Lakeside Amusement Park. Finally, there is this Studio Ghibli-like teaser for Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

      1. Is that killzone 3? damn id like a remaster(just a pc port would do), PLUS a reimagining( what sony SHOULD have bungie doing)

  1. Overrated game. People only like it because they're blinded by nostalgia. Other than that. it's a mere above average FPS that is also extremely frustrating.

    1. it is funny how quickly ww2 genre got forgotten after the release of cod4, nobody except boomers cares about it anymore.

      1. Did not think about this topic in particular, but I personally play all sorts of shooters, historic, modern, or sci-fi (my favorite), old or new, doesn't matter.

But MOHAA in particular isn't a very good game as per what its fans claim it to be. Even COD 1 released just a year after it in 2003 was a much better WW2 FPS than MOHAA.

        1. COD was innovative at the time because of the squad dynamics and the feeling of being just another cog in the war machine. MOHAA in comparison feels like it still stuck in the PSX era MOH games, at least as far as i played.

          1. Yeah, it's a pretty overrated game, boring and extremely frustrating even and nowhere deserves all the hype its fanboys make it out to be. I didn't play it back in the day because I didn't have a PC, so based on the hype, I thought it was "one of those greatest FPS masterpieces of the early 2000s", and when I finally had the chance to try it by myself, boy, I was blown away by how underwhelming it actually was.

Also, you said that this was only as far you played. Wait till you reach the latter levels that will make you want to bang your head and smash your keyboard on the wall (even on Easy difficulty), the enemies deal an insane amount of damage later on, they are the same enemies with the same weapons that you've already encountered countless times by then, they aren't even like "elite enemies" to justify dealing that damage and they deal that damage for literally no reason whatsoever other than a quick and cheap way to make the game even more frustrating than it already is and the developers themselves being extremely re󠀀ta󠀀rded.

          2. I think i stopped playing a few levels after the D-Day mission (which sucked btw)

          3. Good for you actually. Just please DON’T continue further, you will lose your brain cells trying to beat an extremely frustrating game that ultimately ends with a terrible and meaningless ending.

When I beat the last mission, I was like “That’s it? I just beat an ordinary mission with absolutely nothing ‘special’ about it that makes it the final mission and then the credits started rolling?! WTF???”

Trash, trash game. I regret wasting my time on it.

          4. Also, you're exactly right, it feels like it is still stuck in the PSX era, it has no ADS other than for the sniper rifle when other weapons could've really benefitted from a dedicated ADS button.

Not to mention the mountain of bugs it has even in the latest official patch that not even the developers themselves bothered patching them and was left to rot because not even its developers care about it.

COD 1 pretty much felt like what this horrible game dreamt to be but never accomplished that dream.

  2. Amazing work. That due from "Teaser Play" channel is nowhere near that level.
Even the original creator of that level loves this
