GTA San Andreas Unreal Engine 5-2

This GTA San Andreas Fan Remake in Unreal Engine 5 Shows What the Official Remaster Should Have Looked Like

YouTube’s ‘flames per second’ has released an incredible video, showcasing his remake of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in Unreal Engine 5. This video shows what the official remaster should have looked like. So, be sure to watch it.

To create this fan remake, the YouTuber used a few GTA: San Andreas mods. For instance, they used the map mod from MrVicho13. They also used some custom cars that were created by modder ‘rbsace’.

Now as you will, see this remake has managed to retain the art style of the original game. Not only that but the lighting improvements are huge. Thanks to Unreal Engine 5’s advanced lighting system, the GTA San Andreas map looks incredible.

Now I do have some nitpicks. For instance, the draw distance and the shadow cascades could have been higher than what we see. There are also numerous pop-in issues. This fan remake could definitely benefit from Nanite (though I don’t know whether the assets used are compatible with it).

I should also note that this fan remake does not make the game look like a next-gen title. Instead, it remasters the original game in almost every way. Seriously, this is what the official remaster should have looked like. The fact that one fan made this whole thing is also pretty crazy. Because it could have easily passed as an official remaster.

Sadly, the YouTuber has not shared this project. So no, you can’t download and play it. Still, the following video packs A LOT of gameplay footage. From driving to shooting enemies, this video shows pretty much everything you’d expect.

For comparison purposes, I’ve also included a video from a heavily modded version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Remastered. As such, you can go ahead and compare them yourselves.

If you’re into Unreal Engine 5, you’ve got to check out these other awesome fan video remakes. There are faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool. Then there’s this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Oh, and don’t miss the Grand Theft Auto 6 fan concept in UE5; it’s pretty impressive. We also have a fan remaster of Unreal Gold in UE5. You should also watch the full-on remake video for Final Fantasy 9.

Need for Speed Most WantedNeed for Speed Carbon and Tony Hawk’s Underground have also received some cool remakes. And if that’s not enough, there are fan remakes for Death StrandingFallout 4The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s SolitudeGrand Theft Auto 4Fallout 4Resident Evil 1Skyrim’s Winterhold and Skyrim’s Whiterun. There is also this Studio Ghibli stylized teaser for Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5. So, lots of UE5 fan remakes, right? Well, since they’re all really cool, we suggest giving them a watch.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. John strikes again, as always he doesn’t know the difference between a Remaster and a Remake, making this mistake for years now and enjoying whatever amateur UE5 trash that pops up on the internet, thinking that adding some reflections resulting in glowing jeans and jackets, realistic textures with angular geometry and not even considering art-style is what a good remaster is.

“managed to retain the art style”
Fcking no !! Where did you see that FFS ?! The sound is only thing that escaped this miserable butchering

  2. Why do people make these videos as it wont be released o here is a video of it running in Snow drop here it is running in Ue5 hear it is running in the doom engine what crap.

  3. The weirdest thing about the DE was the faces and the hands looked worse than the original pc versions. The weather wasn’t handled too well either I think I read only 4 types vs a lot more in the og pc version obviously the look was more generic but had shiny reflections more. UE5 has a shinyness about it even on the characters looks weird. And typical UE5 is to way overuse hardware for what’s shown even without it’s custom lighting nanite etc enabled. Idk how he did this he must have somehow lifted assets from the DE and a lot more. Making phone compatible games was obviously a priority for the DEs, terrible unusable world maps and such too.

  4. Ha, aaay ay ay dude, always the same with you! You get some basis but in the end arrive to the wrong conclusions!
Here i am thinking that this is NOT what the remasters should have looked like because they do NOT keep the original art style!
It mostly does because of the assets, yeah, but the lighting looks “too good” and coloring and feel are washed away, so I’d prefer what we got… But let’s circlej*rk about Unreal Engine 5 i guess!

  8. The concept is missing the people walking around, flat textures, some popup, but this is a remake I would be happy to buy at full price. These goofy comments attacking John for sharing on HIS WEBSITE is hilarious. I guess I’m just his audience because I saw this and shared with a few friends and they also would much rather a polished version of this game than the no effort phone port we got.

  9. John the brainless strikes again. There is reason you’re not taken seriously anywhere you prat. This is just one of them
