Starfield Neutral LUTs - No Color Filters Mod-1

Starfield Mod fixes its elevated black levels/washed out graphics

Yesterday, PureDark released a must-have mod for Bethesda’s latest RPG that added support for NVIDIA DLSS 2 and Intel XeSS. And today, modder “fadingsignal” released another must-have mod for Starfield that fixes its elevated black levels/washed-out issues.

As the modder noted, this Starfield Mod removes the color filters from the game, making the colors more uniformly neutral with deeper blacks. Do also note that this isn’t a Reshade preset as it uses the game’s own textures. Additionally, it doesn’t affect the Photo Filters in any way.

You can download the mod from here. Below you can also find some screenshots that showcase the improved visuals. As you can clearly see, Starfield now has better black levels, and it does no longer look washed out. This is a major issue I had with the game, so I’m glad there is a mod that addresses it.

In order to install it, you’ll have to extract the Data folder from the downloaded RAR into Documents\My Games\Starfield. Then, you’ll have to create a StarfieldCustom.ini file and add the following lines.

  • [Archive]
  • bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
  • sResourceDataDirsFinal=

Speaking of Starfield mods, I also suggest using this guide to improve the game’s FOV. There are numerous FOV Mods right now on NexusMods, however, I believe it will be best to create your own version. After all, it’s a relatively easy tweak.

Stay tuned for our PC Performance Analysis which will most likely go live tomorrow!

  1. I just want to know where those before shots are from cause I have not seen anything that looks close to that XD

      1. bethesda hasnt put any soul in their game since morrowind, but i cant blame them, morrowind was hard to get into and play, oblivion and everything else they made is made for tards.

      1. every bethesda game requires you that you put invalidate order files in the games ini in order to get texture mods to work and now show up with weird colors or misplaced on weapons and characters.

      1. If devs try to accurately portray aboriginals, they will be called racists, which is why i haven’t seen a single aboriginal character design in gaming despite the propaganda onslaught. Aboriginals are nightmare fuel, it’s not just your standard racist caricature, but one that is legit bizarre and scary.

    1. i am not racist when i say this, but they do look like gorillas. They legitimately do, wtf bethesda? Its like they are back at oblivion level of bad character designs. Also behind them, in that area i saw one of those skin disease characters, why is that everywhere in games nowadays? It was on baldur’s gate 3 as well.

          1. Every devs does this, you may think it’s organic, but it became organic thanks to an agenda.

      1. because they need to raise awareness that they are among us and we need to treat them with… oh who am i fooling, it’s the same woke sht as always.

    1. I’m getting locked 60 everywhere, even in Atlantis where there is an absolute tonne of NPC’s and stuff going on. 15 hours in, no bugs at all, haven’t needed to reload a save once.

      1. simple . . . all those people mostly is the people who want to know how much bullshit and lie todd spouting that end up beaing really just bullshit and blatant lie, like me for example i and my friend make a bet by how much bugs gonna be exist in the game and how much all the fanboys will defend the game despite the fact all the bugs and missing fiture . .

        1. If it is so buggy it would have lost half of it’s users on the first day like Skyrim did. Starfield has been out a couple for a days now and has not lost half its userbase with the premium edition.

      2. People who bought the game are actually trying it ???! who would have thought ?
Wait until the dust has settled and all hype is down and then everyone including the biggest fanboys (i ,myself, am a bethesda games enjoyer) will agree the game was a BIG miss better forgotten.

        1. The other poster was claiming the game is broken and buggy, it’s not that bad. .By the way, I find the game very enjoyable.

        1. If it was full of bugs and completely broken, like you stated, there would have been a sharp drop off in users like there was in Skyrim. Today it hit 245,000. So it has increased in users. Broken and buggy games decrease the user numbers like Skyrim did.

          1. I wasn’t really following Skyrim’s release, but nevertheless, videos of the inordinate amount of bugs in Starfield are all over the place. Are you saying all those videos, screenshots and accounts from players are fake?

  2. >Do also note that this isn’t a Reshade preset as it uses the game’s own textures
I wish modders would do this for every other game too. this disgusting elevated black fashion by corporate maggots are ruining almost every game. but of course, modders do this only for the most popular woke vomit games

  3. Just a heads up about puredarks DLSS mod. There’s a better one called “Starfield FSR2 Bridge” . Puredark’s mod crashes the game in a bunch of scenarios, changing graphic settings, changing resolution, toggling vsync. Doesn’t happen with the other one I named.

  4. I can’t figure out why developers think these piss green filters make their game look better. AC Valhalla’s Ragnarok DLC did the same thing. To make matters worse it’s going to take some extra processing power, not a lot but still some and thus lower the framerate.

    1. you know what they said “Making game is hard” “software enginering is not easy” . .
and yet modder who do software enginering, coding and all those stuff just for fun able to do better than mutimillion studio ever do . .

  5. John claims he doesn’t promote DLC, but promoted a paid mod in other link, he quickly bends his rules in order to get promotional shekels by writing about Starfield.

  6. A non-game for non-gamers.
I don’t even understand how can people be excited about this empty game with no soul.
Back in my days… Oh well, nevermind.

    1. bla bla bla no soul bla bla, go play your nes games full of soul. Bethesda games may have most soul out of all games, they are technically outdated, clunky, and sometimes have some of the stupidest designs but they are liked by everyone outside of crybabies from dsog, why? because they do have soul its what keeps Bethesda in business. Sure they over did on soy and wokness, but if you look past that its good old morrowind in space poking out.

  7. Wait until the dust has settled and all hype is down and then everyone including the biggest fanboys (i ,myself, am a bethesda games enjoyer) will agree the game was a BIG miss better forgotten.

  8. It’s getting playable thanks to modders (who would have thought?), but still, I’ll wait another 2-3 months to open this shït again.
    Boring souless game.
    SMH
A “triple A” 2023 game and it doesn’t even have an option for changing the brightness.
Why are people still paying for such amateurish works?

  9. Just use Reshade. I use it on practically every single game I play. Once you see how much cleaner you can make a game and make textures pop by tweaking settings with it. It’s hard to go back. Almost every game has some sort of blur/dull colors to it. Reshade is bliss

  10. there are now a few of these that are LUT rather than reshade, not interested in reshade nonsense. Someone removed the green tint from cyberpunk using LUT and it made it so much better looking, I plan on installing this today. Game should have had 2-3 huge planet maps in one system so some space flight combat and ships but no procedural generated generic stuff. And should have made fallout 5 in space with all the lore and tradtions there, mistake for this game but it’s still fun in the cities and occasional outpost combat etc We don’t want chatgpt and AI, procedural games!!! Pay some dang humans to write and to custom make assets and such, give me more Noir Robot Detective from FO4!!
