It appears that the full source code of the first Far Cry game, developed by Crytek, has been leaked online. Far Cry is the game that put Crysis on everyone’s radar, so it will be interesting to see what modders can now achieve with it.
Ideally, we’d love to see someone adding native Ray Tracing – or even Path Tracing – effects. Imagine a fully path-traced version of Far Cry. Now that would be really cool. And, to be honest, we strongly believe that Far Cry could greatly benefit from Ray Tracing/Path Tracing.
Those interested can download the source code from here. From what we can see, this code is for version 1.34.
Speaking of the first Far Cry game, we also suggest taking a look at the following mods. FarCry Returns is an upcoming unofficial sequel to the game. On the other hand, the Far Cry Beta Restoration Mod attempts to restore content cut from the game’s beta phase. And lastly, Far Cry: Rework attempts to be an Enhanced Edition of the game’s Steam version.
Stay tuned for more!

Oh, how useful. 🤦🏾♂️
Da fck man ? This is a good thing, a classic PC game can now overcome its limitations, get better modding or even source ports, it’s a win
This guy hates modders with a passion. The notion that someone improves a product for free upsets him.
this game was great and a big technical achievement. It was extremely unrealistically HARD too.
Yea the ai could see you through walls and started shooting immediately when you were out of cover(like online players pre firing)
And could spot you and hit you from hundred meters away…still it was a technical marvel when it released i have some great memories playing that game
Sound like very bad AI, Very Bad programming & Very Bad game. But we tend to see things with a nostalgic lense these days.
Ai was weird but the game was still good man. It was a true technical achievement.
Not at all, 2004’s Crytek were among the best programmers the world can hold, while the game looked gorgeous for it time, it also had great open ended and rich gameplay and also impressive physics, unlike Doom 3 being a graphical showcase with barely any gameplay novelty even though it’s done by a way more experienced dev, the AI wasn’t perfect but it destroys any game from 2010 till now on this particular aspect.
It’s not perfect and a lot elements didn’t age well, but it’s certainly not bad programming, the shooting through walls was a bug introduced with a certain patch, it was addressed with the GOG release and there are actually a lot of mods that correct this issue
“we tend to see things with a nostalgic lense these days”
I perfectly understand what you’re trying to say but FC1 is a PC classic, it deserve some respect for being one of these titles that showcased what PCs are capable of back then
That’s not true at all
For like a decade, the release most people knew from GOG was the one with the latest Ubisoft Patch from like 2005, and it literally broke tents so enemies could see through them.
That’s been fixed for like 4 years now.
Enemies cannot see through anything normally, this has always been a lie.
That sounds like every FPS on Veteran difficulty.
I remember playing the demo 100 times. For its time it was amazing.
Very nice, I hope to see some total conversions at one point.
One of my favorite games and highly influential to titles like Crysis and STALKER.
It would be interesting if it was the version that added dx9.0c and PBR materials, don’t remember exactly the patch version.
Wasn’t it just called the 64bit patch? It was released with support for DX9.0c and AMD Athlon 64bit support, and supported higher decals.

“Leaked”
leak the source code for new vegas godamn it, the engine sucks and it needs dx11 render.
API change won’t fix that, it’s solely due to Gamebryo being archaic.
Try DXVK
