The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project NextGen Edition Gets New Preview Video

Modder ‘Halk Hogan PL’ has released a new preview video for his upcoming HD Reworked Project Mod for the Next-Gen version of The Witcher 3. This video compares some of the game’s default textures with the new ones that the modder will include in the mod.

The HD Reworked Project is a must-have HD Texture Pack for The Witcher 3. While the Next-Gen version of The Witcher 3 features most of the overhauled textures, the modder has been working on a new version that will be compatible with it.

As Halk Hogan PL claimed, the quality of assets is on a much higher level than you could experience in the last available version of HDRP (12.0 Ultimate). What’s also cool here is that this upcoming version of HDRP will also work with old-gen V1.31/1.32 versions of The Witcher 3.

Unfortunately, there is still no ETA on when this new version of the HD Reworked Project will come out.

Lastly, and speaking of The Witcher 3 Next-Gen, you may also want to take a look at the following mods for it. There is currently a cool first-person mod that you can download. Furthermore, the Characters Reworked Project improves the quality of over 100 characters.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. Its high time CDPR released the Redkit as they had promised when they released Witcher 3.

Now that they’ve moved to Unreal. There is nothing for them to lose.

Release the Redkit modding tools and watch Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk attain longevity for decades.
Especially Cyberpunk. I think modders will have an absolute blast with Cyberpunk.

    1. Not happening. To make modding tools the level of Redkit for TW2 would take a lot of time and effort, and that’s time spent for free. No board of directors would approve it, as it doesn’t make them any additional profit worth a salt.

It’s all about the profit and not appeasing gamers. It’s high time people get the fact that gaming studios are not your friends. They are hired workers that answer to the higher-ups, no matter how gamer-friendly they want to appear.

  2. I hate this new next-gen update. a lot of modders are abandoning their support for the classic version (which was already good).

  3. Is it objectively better? Sure. But does it look better? Maybe 10% in only some of the comparisons. I always watch these comparison videos and wonder to myself why anyone would put themselves through this much work for kind of alright results. You wanna “rework” some HD stuff? Start with learning how to model and UV properly and learn how to write your own shaders. To me a lot of this looks like it was put through a filter to up the contrast and sharpness. You also have to keep in mind, when most people play games like this, they’re just running through areas. You see a texture once and go, “neat”, then you move on and forget it. Focus on composition. One of the comparisons replaced some rocks but didn’t really do anything to make it look interesting and the iron accents on the castle ramparts, why? Why change those to be rounded like that. Do you know how hard it would have been with basic blacksmithing tools to round those out like that? To me, the texture looked a bit better but the model looked worse. Bevel is your friend. When I play Forbidden West, every nook and cranny of that game looks deliberate and living. Make me believe these HD mods. Right now they just look like emulation up-resing. Kudos to the hard work though, I know how hard stuff like this is.

    1. It’s really beyond me how this modder is not sick of Witcher 3 at this point. I mean, if he was doing it professionally for pay then sure, have fun. But in your spare time and for free – nah.

It’s a shame that no mods can fix the Ubisoft-like gameplay of Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.

  4. A lot of developers using ridiculous amounts of VRAM could learn a lesson or two from Halk Hogan, not only are his textures top notch they are very much memory optimized and don’t unnecessarily waste a bunch of VRAM for nothing
