Fallout 4 gets a 41GB 4K Texture Pack, optimizing all 40,962 textures

Modder ‘Painstaking Rick’ has released a new 4K Texture Pack for Fallout 4. This pack weighs around 41GB in size, and aims to optimize all of the game’s textures. That’s 40,962 textures in total.

Going into more details, Performout 4 – Fancy introduces 4K textures for all objects. The key feature here is that these 4K textures perform similarly to the game’s vanilla textures. So, if your computer ran the vanilla version at 60fps, it can also run this 4K modded version at the same speed.

You can download the mod from here. At the end of the article, you can also find some comparison screenshots. The vanilla version is on the left, whereas the modded version is on the right.

Speaking of Fallout 4 mods, we also suggest taking a look at the following ones. Whispering Hills is a cool Silent Hill mod, whereas Fallout 4 Project Mojave is a full remake of the New Vegas strip (featuring 3 functional casinos). Additionally, The Wilderness Mod adds a worldplace that is as big as Nuka World. Moreover, Fallout 4: Sim Settlements 2 Chapter 2 adds new quests and a game mode.

Have fun!

    1. John is in a disturbing love with: Fallout 4, Cyberpunk 2077, Skyrim, and Witcher 3. Are these wh0res your bread and butter Johnny ?

      1. I love modding games. What other games do you recommend that give the experience that these games you mentioned do? I am just asking.
Instead of insulting give us some other game suggestions.

  1. I played vanilla FO4 in 2018 or something like that. I think it’s time to mod it AF and replay it with my current rig.

      1. Fallout 3 was babies first RPG for the braindead 360 generation, Fallout 4 gets defended out of nostalgia alone despite being as much of an RPG as f*king Borderlands.

        1. Thats because you are a teenager, one of those people that paid money for “open world survival, build a shack” trash of games.
And this is what “fallout 4” really is: ARK FailOut Evolved

A single FNV Quest that meant to introduce you to the world has MORE options and paths then the MAIN quest of FailOut 4.

The game has no paths every conversion is SAME 4 options:
          Sarcastic Yes
          Humorous Yes
          Serious Yes
No [But ill come back later to pick up one of the other options if i want this quest]

Base building is a huge de-service and a negative, its something for the dumb teenager, the idiotic millennial and the snot eating zoomer that things hes “crafty and cRaTiVE”

          1. Lol! I’m 53, I have tattoos older than you!

But please, continue to tell us how things are… LoL

          2. On one hand you see a lot of FO3 and FNV mods about having a shelter or an underground base way better than the vanilla houses and on the other hand you have people complaining about a crafting system that let you build as you like in FO4. I agree that it should be more optional but I think that some people just like to complain about everything.

          3. You’re spot on imo. Who has the right to tell any of us what we should and shouldn’t like? Ya know what I mean?

      2. that only tells me you are young, grew up playing fallout 3, and have absolutely no idea that “fallout: brotherhood of steel” exists.

  2. I’ve been wanting to try AI upscaling textures from Fallout 4, I just keep forgetting to look up how to extract them from the BA2 archives (I probably still have the tool, but don’t remember). There’s plenty of nice texture packs out there, but I want something that conforms more closely to the original aesthetic of the game while still being better quality, without killing my FPS or VRAM in VR.

  3. Apparently, a “next gen” update is coming from Bethesda this year. I’ll hold out for that before playing it. It’s been in my backlog for years…

  4. How do you install the texture packs? Is the install instructions in the downloadable files? Because I don’t see any instructions in Nexus.

  5. John is in a disturbing love with: Fallout 4, Cyberpunk 2077, Skyrim, and
Witcher 3. Are these wh*res your bread and butter Johnny ? You cant cover better f*king mods? . WHAT THE F*K, DSOGAMING IS CENSORSHIP FREE YOU F*K. DONT make us angry. A friendly reminder!

Now the f*k says: Hold on, this is waiting to be approved by DSOGaming.

F*k you! If you want to unleash the armada go ahead you f*k, you dont censor me you f*k.

  6. Moderator J.P ABUSES HIS POWER HE PROMISED CENSORSHIP FREE SITE BECAUSE PEOPLE DEMANDED IT. YET he thinks can delete MY comments and get away with it! Should I bury him? Vote now! Fallout 4, Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 and Skyrim mods is that all he can say ?

  7. There are already some really really good looking mods for FO4 I the games index of mods. They also have a lot less demanding size for a better look too. They ha e some for more realistic nights and lights, that sh*t would b insane awesome with the whispering hills mod, and they have some that just re-do the blood if that’s what u want. Screw the 40 some-odd GB BS to make my rocks look like rocks. Get the game, go into the creative sh*t menu and start shopping for ur free mods and get the good good. Not some sh*t that has to b promo’d on a website. The ppl doing these mods have genuine love for the game and it shows in their work. I wish I could say that I had some in there but I’m not that talented, just go check it out. If im wrong, f*k it…… shoot me somehow.

  8. Because of self-entitled gamers who haven’t got an atom of creativity in their body, the author of Performout 4, PainstakingRick, has deleted all his mods from Nexus. Rick had some issues with Nexus, which were worked out, but then he returned to the BS comments left in his absence. Can’t say I blame him for leaving.

This is truly the dark side of gaming, and I’ve seen it happen many times. Ungrateful vindictive users who chase off talented, hardworking, and largely unpaid authors with their snide remarks. Nexus needs to ban them before their negativity causes more authors to leave.

Y’all need to do an article on this problem, and maybe in future articles about fan-created mods, remind your readers that these mods are being shared out of the goodness of the author’s heart. They should consider themselves lucky that folks like PainstakingRick exist.
