NBA 2K23 feature

NBA 2K23 PC will be once again based on the old-gen console version

These past couple of years, 2K Games has been offering the old-gen version of its basketball series, NBA 2K, on PC. And, once again, PC gamers won’t be able to experience the current-gen version of this game. As 2K Games confirmed, the PC version of NBA 2K23 will be based on the old-gen console version.

As 2K Games stated:

“This is something the team is passionate about and will continue to investigate what is possible for the franchise in the future. For now, the focus was on assuring NBA 2K23 was optimized for the new consoles (PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S), while also making sure the experience remains fresh and innovative for players on other platforms.”

What’s really funny here is that 2K Games has used the same excuse it used for NBA 2K22. Seriously, replace NBA 2K22 with NBA 2K23 and you get the exact same message. And yes, this clearly shows that 2K Games considers the PC crowd as second-class citizens.

This is something that has to stop and PC gamers should vote with their wallets. At this point, there is no reason at all to purchase this new version of this basketball game (at least on PC). This also applies to the FIFA series (which is also following this “old-gen” trend).

We know that PC gamers want a new basketball game but hey, if you want to be considered as an afterthought and nothing more, be our guests and purchase this game!

  1. It’s basically just a casino with a basketball game attached to it anyway. Not much to update or innovate for the r3tards that keep buying it

  2. The PC platform is already on the next next gen and these clowns cant even be bothered to make a PC port how embarrassing. I remember when 2K had great sports games like NFL 2K, MLB 2K & older NBA 2K games. How depressing it is to be a sports gamer now compared to when i was growing up and we had amazing sports games and had real effort put into them instead of busting packs.

  3. If you keep paying for this s**t, then you get what you deserve.

The only thing that sucks for everyone else, is that your stupidity is enabling this lazy garbage.

    1. The question is who buys this game? And it most be casuals, people with a laptop or outdated hardware. hence why they don’t upgrade to new engine. To not lose market share.

      1. PC could choose between both builds, but the question is, who is gonna bother giving consumers (?) options…

  4. For reference, there was only a one year lag last gen for pc to get the ‘next gen version’. Shame. Also, fwiw, 2k stayed cross gen for 4 years last gen. Maybe by year 5 we’ll get the next gen version.

      1. even 1060 will run 4k with 60hz- my old backup pc with 760 could run the consol version of the game, just lower the graphics. but to bad you are right, this is the reason 2k dont upgrade for pc. but sure i hope they do soon so i can test it on my 3090 setup 😀

  5. PC gaming is still on 1080p and very out dated GPUs, I guess they do not want to lose market share by upgrading their engine, but they will eventually.

My brother plays fifa 22 on a gtx 960 at 1440p just fine.

    1. it is not PC gaming to be honest. More like laptop gaming. Majority of Sports gamers game on portable devices & consoles. Definitely none will be playing a sports title (except motorsport titles) on a decent to high-end systems.

  6. Same s**t was with EA Sports 10-15 years ago when FIFA on PC finally matched PS3/X360 only in 2010 with FIFA 11.
