Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy – Ray Tracing & DLSS Benchmarks

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy releases later today and NVIDIA has provided us with a review code for it. As such, and before publishing our PC Performance Analysis, we’ve decided to share some Ray Tracing and DLSS benchmarks.

For these benchmarks, we used an Intel i9 9900K with 16GB of DDR4 at 3600Mhz, and NVIDIA’s RTX 3080. We also used Windows 10 64-bit and the GeForce 496.13 driver.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy features a built-in benchmark tool. This tool appears to be representative of the actual in-game performance, which is why we’ve decided to use it for our benchmarks.

Let’s start with DLSS. NVIDIA’s upscaling tech is incredible in this game. Not only does it improve performance, but it also offers superior anti-aliasing. This is truly one of the best DLSS implementations, and we highly recommend using it. Not only that, but EIDOS Montreal has included a DLSS Sharpening setting so that PC gamers can adjust it. Truly awesome stuff.

Below you can find some comparison screenshots between native 4K (left) and DLSS Quality (right). The last screenshot, in particular, shows the improved anti-aliasing results that DLSS brings to the table.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy uses Ray Tracing in order to enhance its reflections. And, surprisingly enough, there are a lot of reflected surfaces in this game. So, and contrary to other games, there is a noticeable image difference between the rasterized and the ray-traced versions.

Below you can find some comparison screenshots. Native 4K Ray Tracing screenshots are on the left and the Non-Ray-Traced screenshots are on the right.

Naturally, Ray Tracing brings a major performance hit. Thankfully, though, RTX owners can enable DLSS. As we’ve already said, DLSS is a must-have in this game. By enabling DLSS Quality, we were able to get a minimum of 52fps and an average of 69fps at 4K/Max Settings/Ray Tracing. By dropping the Ray Tracing effects to Very High (from Ultra), we were able to get a constant 60fps experience.

  1. So a 31fps hit in 4k with Ray tracing turned on. So I should be alright at 100fps maxed out @ 5120×1440!

Sounds about right. Marvel’s avengers game was the same way. Amazing how DLSS works in the end.

  2. I think it’s BS Avengers gets pay to win scheme while they basically release what should’ve and could’ve been a huge help to bring back fans to Avengers. This game release basically shows they never gave a care in the world about avengers and the fact this game was announced in June and already means they’ve also given up on Avengers and this explains why development has gone down hill. SE should stick to Final Fantasy games

  3. i watched like 4-5 hours of this game on youtube, not because its good, but because i want to see at what point does it get to having a point, its so slow and repetitive and boring combat with bulletspongy enemies, the dialogues are like the writers were on strike so they made up stuff as they go. The level design is like a x360/ps3 game super linear and scripted with some gap in the wall that you get some resources for upgrades, by the way some of the laziest upgrade system i have ever seen. There is a game being bad and then there is making a game with the worst aspects of the x360 and ps3 era with the worst aspects of modern game design in terms of gameplay and writing only to cover it up with modern graphics and a popular license.

Please stop making games this way games industry.

Hear me out here, this game would have been better if it was assigned to a japanesse studio and they turned it into a jrpg like tales of arise or scarlet nexus. The game would basically play the same, go to planet which is shaped like a dungeon, with optional chests to open for resources, fight weird monsters in random encounters, use your team special abilities, get levels. have tons of filler dialogue and overall make the game in a much much smaller budget. This would have been better than this bulletspongy linear corridor with endless dialogue and exposition that says nothing of value and bulletspongy combat that you slowly tear down healthbars.

    1. Agreed with the nature of how the banter and dialogues seemed aimed at 12 year olds but the odd sexual innuendo disguised under uninspired metaphors is a stark departure from that 12 year old dialogue vibes everywhere else. “Flark, Flarking, Scutt Scutting, Son of a Shamaagáh” all swear alternatives put in place to get that age 13+ rating tag. This game apparently won best narrative and story, I am not seeing it after 1 hr of game play thus far. I get the distinct feeling this is aimed at teens and as usual is the case with media despite the 13+ rating there will be sexual references and obvious swears disguised under obviously recognizable alternatives. Good thing we have YouTube lets plays to go through before putting money into buy at full price, I am just trying to see if there is even value in getting this at a discount somewhere in the future.

The game play so far seems wonky at best and when you say repetitive, my expectations have nose dived further beyond were it fell after hearing the cheap banter and low quality dialogues.

  4. guardians of the galaxy, marvel, dc, is literally the best example of brandhyping and consumerism, true, a favorite past time to gain maximum capital and in the US weve seen many of the shoah elite gain more from it, but its a bit different for the rest of the world now is it. a lot of jewish investors hang onto the film studios sure, but son, we talk about eidos montreal here, any bridgenoses here? i never found any zionist connection to David Anfossi. unless you think hes jewish because of his biblical first name. forehead measuring, name assuming destroys believability. your sh*t aint better, its straight up ni**er level thinking. (ni**er= ghetto blacks, ne*ro=referring to an african person, black=accept someone as an equal, i dont sling ni**er around like nothing, i do it contextually)

sure, he f*ked thief, kinda f*ked deus ex, f*ked tomb raider, but the devteam has at least on paper, little to do with square enix except bowing to their cashgrab , brandmilking tactics, a japanese publisher, with english woke branches who jump, mostly in the western branches, jump on the woke bandwagon, rather than belief in it back in the japanese hq. though i gotta say, neolib phlosophy is rampant in japanese subculture too, only did they littl to k*ke themselves, over there you can still roleplay as anything without getting thrown in jail and animations can still play erika. square enix like capcom are corporatist woke sympathizers, rather than truly indoctrinated like ubisoft, EA, or well, the entire triple a west. save the kikry stuff for hard truths rather than random meaningless slingshots.

critic the semites, critic yourself, stop them, stop yourself from your own corruption. dont hate them, pick the bad apples and pluck them from the good. for everyone does the same sh*t anyways. but only a few neoliberal jews subvert the west to the point of justified anti establishment antisemitic attack. anti white establishment jews. save it for those f*ks.
