Sony Pictures Entertainment has released the official trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil movie, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. The movie will air exclusively in movie theaters on November 24th.
From what we know so far, the movie will combine the stories of Resident Evil 1 and Resident Evil 2. So yeah, expect to see the Raccoon City, as well as the Spencer Mansion.
Now I have to say that the CGI in this movie looks a bit rough. For instance, the Tyrant looks kind of awful. The Licker, on the other hand, looks fine. Moreover, the music they chose to use in this trailer is not that good.
But anyway, I hope this new RE movie will be better than the latest low-budget Doom movie. While there were good intentions, that Doom movie was awful. So yeah, let’s hope that this one will be better.

That is some direct-to-video level of CGI they’ve got there.
I would be OK with the bad acting, questionable casting (only Chris Redfield looks the part) crappy CGI and all that if the movie followed that tone too (cheesy B-movie like in the first game) but no…they take this so seriously that you can tell is doomed.

The Prince of Persia does a cameo as Leon S. Kennedy (i can’t think of a more american name than that…but there you go…they cast an indian actor anyways)

Aside from Chris, none of the actors look like who they are supposed to be. (To be fair, the original movies didn’t either. Wesker aside. These are already better than theirs) The hair for Leon and Claire look like the hair stylist just gave up after about 10 minutes of trying to approximate what they are supposed to look like.
Also, they made Jill black for some reason(Not that I have a problem) but there seems to be no sign of Marvin Branagh?
Other than that I think it looks really good. They have captured tons of stuff that feels completely in character and lots and lots of cool references I can already see.(Also: Neal McDonough <3) It feels like a love letter to fans of the games who were disappointed with the original movies.
I think it will probably not end up having the appeal of the older movies for a certain crowd though.

This very aggressive sound design is so annoying and over-the-top, nowadays.
If you watch the trailer with the sound off, you realize how flat it feels though.
In 80s movies, they didn’t use such stupid bombastic sounds (like that overly used bass drop sound in 99,99% of movies) and yet managed to create memorable scenes.
As for the music choice (in the first trailer), I have no words. It’s like they thought “what would be the MOST inappropriate song ever made for Resident Evil”?… Nothing surprises me anymore.
And yeah, my reaction is only about the sound and music, cos the rest (like the actors who have the charisma of a dead oyster) is not even worth reacting to. lol
Still not as disappointing as the new Matrix trailer though. lol
