EA officially announces Next-Gen Dead Space Remake, releases first in-engine trailer

And the rumors were true. Electronic Arts has just announced the next-gen Dead Space remake, and released its first in-engine trailer. Dead Space will be completely rebuilt from the ground up by Motive Studios to offer a deeper and more immersive experience.

Dead Space will be a remake, using the Frostbite Engine and offering next-gen graphics. According to EA, the remake will “bring jaw-dropping visual fidelity and improvements to gameplay while staying true to the original.

As its official description reads:

“Isaac Clarke is an everyman engineer on a mission to repair a vast, sprawling starship, the USG Ishimura, only to discover something has gone horribly wrong. The ship’s crew has been slaughtered and infected by some alien scourge…and Isaac’s beloved partner, Nicole, is lost somewhere on board.

Now Isaac is alone with only his tools and engineering skills as he attempts to uncover the nightmarish mystery of what happened aboard the Ishimura. Trapped with hostile creatures called “necromorphs”, Isaac faces a battle for survival, not only against the escalating terrors of the ship, but his own crumbling sanity.”

Enjoy!

  1. I absolutely love Dead Space. But if it’s just a remake then I sure as hell won’t be wasting money on a fresh coat of paint.

  2. one the best horror games ever. with all the original talent gone and today’s trend of crappy remaster/remakes, i hope they don’t ruin it.

    1. I thought he was referring to a b00b window. Anyway, technically it’s not a front hole unless he’s talking about mouths. My bad.

  3. If only Ubisoft could get on the same train and release a remake / redo / enhancement of Splinter Cell instead of that garbage XDefiant nonsense.

    1. Like ME remake, they will totally ignored all the little visual detail that inserted by the original developers that make it unfogettable the first time we played it. Only Capcom are able to capture that feeling on their remake without losing what makes it great the first time.

      1. Capcom is a joke as well they give you one good remake and everyone forgets how terrible they are.

  4. I’d have preferred if they made DS4 instead. I’ll take this as well though, first one is the best.

  5. Can’t see one reason (other than cashgrab from stupids) for a remake of this game.
Played it again last year and it’s still beautiful. Same applies to the second one. Shame there’s no third game.

    1. On the plus side they got rid of Mitch Dyer. The ex game journalist who tweets about diversity all day with his witch girlfriend, even though he was given a Star Wars game to lead write zero resume over qualified women and minorities. Probably because he put failed Disney trilogy characters in the Battlefront 2 campaign. His trans otherkin pilot character from Squadrons was a big hit to. I’m sure he’ll get some industry award for his terrible character writing, while actual f@%$ing novelists are turned down. They could have made Squadrons about Thrawn and got Zahn involved, but why do that when you can hire a failed (game) journalist who says Anita Sarkeesian is his hero.

Meanwhile in Japan whose triple A industry hasn’t been destroyed yet by these degenerates they have George freakin RR Martin writing video games. Oh and before anyone claims The Last Of US 2? Sony is in America now. You can thank us for that sh#%.

      1. they of should got steven erikson to write the world. malazan book of the fallen series is way better then a song of fire and ice.

      2. He should of blasted fans who wanted him to rush to finish his books. He definitely cares, but he simply is not a fast writer and he is OLD. Even fast writers who start old can’t finish their series. See Wheel of Time. Robert Jordan may have been the fastest writer ever. He still died before finishing the books.

What happens if book Euron is the Night King “big bad”, that doesn’t even exist in the books. Then Jaime kills him, which were the notes for the show. The little brother also kills the big sister. That would make Jaime the Azor Ahai and he goes through Cersei to do it. It would be one of the greatest character arcs ever. Don’t be mad because some young (((men))) from Hollywood failed to adapt something and wanted to make superhero Arya with some lame zombie king. They screwed Martin over cus they wanted to do a Star Wars movie and they don’t care because they are in the tribe and they will be working whenever they want. Even when they are complete hacks like Alex Kurtzman or Jar Jar Abrams. They get hired over and over again, because they have the real privilege in Hollywood.

The only thing they got right in the show is the very ending. Jon is the only one who is free and who has escaped the wheel. He leaves all the power hungry idiots behind and that includes his sister. Freefolk are similar to Fremen in Dune in that regard. They realize that following leaders, even when they were as “good” as Paul is just slavery.

    2. Its practically impossible, how would they make woke a game were threre are mindless horrifying death monsters every were??

  6. Why not just make Dead Space 4? I know the third game is terrible but they can turn it around with the fourth game.

    1. EA said if Dead Space 3 didn’t hit their sales projections there would be no Dead Space 4 and DS3 didn’t hit EA’s sales projections so there will be no Dead Space 4 anyway. The best that we will get from EA is more remakes.

    2. Because they butchered the value of the IP/franchise/name with the sequels, so it wouldn’t sell as they want.

But not the first one; that was the original gem and still is in high praise.

    1. The Bluish health bar represented on the back will be replaced with…yes you guessed it….LGBT+ Colors

      1. 10 years ago I would laugh, now I’m not. Please don’t give them any ideas. We need your mind working for us not them.

  7. People are way too complacent these days to accept remakes of games that aren’t even that old to begin with. There’s no doubt I see visual improvements here but why waste all that resource when you could work on the next chapter of that franchise? I mean we all know why but man I’m getting tired of hearing all these remakes.

Anyways, I’m more interested in The Callisto Protocol since that’s basically the spiritual successor to DS (from the original co-creator too) but I’d rather wait to see some gameplay before I decide to really care about it.

      1. Yeah it just gives the impression that these companies are aware of how they lack the creative talents to make something wholly original. Its what happens when you prioritise physical/biological traits over decent track records.

      1. One can only hope. But I’m not holding my breath till we get to the see the actual game first.

    1. We are in the age of rewriting everything to be ok with the sick agenda and the global reset.

      1. Sadly all of it seems too true. Since the game is being completely remade from the ground up we all know they’re going to mess it up big time. By the time it releases they could even pull the original game off the stores just to make people forget about its existence.

          1. As far as I’m aware, whenever they pull games from GOG they will remain in your library so long they’ve been purchased. Similar case with Steam. But yeah it’s better to be safe than sorry.

  8. “Dead Space will be completely rebuilt from the ground up by Motive Studios”

So hard difficulty wont be utter bulletsponge?

  9. looks like a graphical update. gameplay and story will most likely be the same so calm your t*ts with the wokeness.
although getting to play as kendra or the other guy as a side story might be interesting.

  10. Oh look, the large group of idiots on this site who attacked me for saying the SSD’s would be leveraged for these new titles for texture streaming were wrong. IGN article with the lead dev.
“We don’t want anything to pull you out of the experience and we don’t want any cuts,” Campos Oriola said. [The faster SSDs of new consoles mean] there’s not going to be any loading. There’s not going to be any moment where we’re going to cut your experience, where we’re going to cut your camera. You can play it from the start screen to the end credits seamlessly.”

Enjoy stuttering on non NVME SSD’S. This is going to be the biggest tech swing for games in a long, long time and was leveraged in Demon Souls. Not leveraging the SSD’s in older Engines is why Jedi Fallen Order stutters like crazy on Unreal 4. The worlds you could create with great detail were super limited without a loading screen.

Windows HAD to put this (Direct Storage) on Windows 10 because the games are coming earlier than they thought. They know no one will beta test their new OS for a year or two.

    1. Sub 75 IQ arguments.

You list open world games that reuse the same textures everywhere on a flat plane and that have HORRIBLE draw in because they can’t stream the textures in. Most also have tons of loading screens because even those tricks hit limits.

Have fun with your game stuttering on that POS non NVME SSD. Asset streaming and bypassing the GPU is the biggest game changer we have had in a long time. It’s why they aren’t putting the game on last gen. They will just let dummies like you buy it on PC and cry about stuttering and optimization, while telling them asset streaming is a conspiracy theory.

This makes game development easier btw. A LOT easier.

      1. PC can’t run Demon Souls without stuttering without Direct Storage. All preview builds were a stuttering mess on dev PC’s because they couldn’t handle the asset streaming. Of course PC Hardware is better. Doesn’t matter when you literally don’t have the API for it. It’s like consoles being decent before low level API’s. Now PC has them they are a complete joke on the CPU side.

  11. ReMAKE? Really strange…
The game is not that old, so if they wanted to make some more money out of the original, they could have done a good remaster with some better graphics and that would have been it for whoever hasn’t played it or might want to give it another go…
But i seriously doubt another studio can get the feel of the original.

    1. I would have preferred it be a remaster as well. Too much can go wrong on a remake by a different developer. I wonder what EA will want to charge for this remake too.

      1. why the hell even bother with a remake? no reason to buy for just some touched up graphics built on the same old underpinnings. Crysis remastered hardly looks any better and still has performance issues since at its core its old outdated unoptimized junk. Dead Space on new engine with no old assets being carried over makes sense after this long. I dont think they will screw it up as its supposedly just the old game we love on modern engine with stunning graphics.

        1. It is hard even for the same studio (realistically, with some personnel variance) to capture and adapt the feel of even their own games they did years ago.
In the case of this game, you would want to prioritize that.

PS: Crysis Re is a disaster and a bad example for anything, forget it.

      1. Rendering techniques have not changed since then, except for the introduction of ray-tracing effects. More importantly GAMEPLAY has not changed since then. Shooters, third person Resident Evil clones especially, still play the exact same. The current industry’s new take on Dead Space would end up playing almost the same, except more auto-aim and more “cinematic setpieces”.

        1. Yeah, I bet you. Watch Glen Schofield interview on Ars Technica youtube channel and there is so many thought put that made Dead Space such a classic. Something that will be missed with this remaster

      2. Graphics hold very well, played last year. No reason for this other than quick cash grab with no invention.

      3. Yes.
But 12 years from 2013 to 21 are nothing like, say 98 to 2010.

The modern one isn’t at all as drastic, and can be bridged with touchups within a remaster.

  12. Hopefully they don’t change anything, just make it work on PC properly. Would love a First Person mode though.

  13. Me thinks they will butcher it. Reducing the stress level, nerfing main chick’s assets and make the movement easy and snappy

  14. EA kills the franchise only to revive it later, with a REMAKE…they are as sick in the head as the Unitologists.

  15. Meh, I’m sure most would disagree but the first Dead Space got too repetitive for me. Only made it through like half the game as it was too basic and too similar through out…very little new stuff.

Liked the 2nd one though, a bit more arcade-ish, but it was more action paced and didn’t seem to drag like the first one. 3rd was OK, a little over the top but it was a fun co-op experience.

    So yeah, meh.

    1. The first game replicates the pacing of the original RE games, slow and methodical but also gets the inspiration from RE4. The sequel goes full RE4 pacing wise and 3 is just COD in third person.

  16. It doesn’t even need a remake, it still looks good, plays and sounds great today. Just make a inspired new game instead of sh**ting on its legacy even more.

  17. not sure what you watched, but looks badass to me. edit: somehow i commented on the wrong video. i’m not even a dead space fan.

  18. So they are the one who killed it and now tried to frankesteined it, EA is high on riding nostalgia bandwagon
