Ubisoft has released a new tech showcase video for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora that highlights some of the graphical features of the Snowdrop Engine. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a first-person, action-adventure game that will target next-gen platforms only.
As the devs noted, with Snowdrop’s microdata system they can propagate thousands of assets in one frame. Additionally, the game will have a varied amount of vegetation, and will have more objects on screen than any other game using this engine.
Furthermore, Snowdrop can handle more complex shaders. The game will have many interactive shaders. These shaders can be affected by the players, the real-time wind simulations and interactions with the environment.
Ubisoft has also added a new volumetric cloud system in Snowdrop. And yes, this new Avatar game will be using real-time Ray Tracing effects. According to the devs, the game will support both Ray Tracing Global Illumination and Reflections. Ubisoft claims that “with Ray Tracing it can now illuminate Pandora in a way they couldn’t before“.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be coming to PC in 2022.

Dafuq ?! Call Wesley Snipes as Blade to burm this demon down
Ubisoft seems to go out of its way to find and hire weirdos.
true.
dude i was like wtf is this for real?
Is this guy a straight up vampire? I found his Twitter page and his picture is a vampire teeth logo. Did he get custom dental work for this or is he born this way? Either way wtf.
clearly dental work. he’s an “””artist””” so he has to be a snowflake.
Looks dope. Snowdrop has been an exciting engine for a while, I think this game will really allow it to push itself visually.
I think it is going to be Far Cry more or less.
I wouldn’t mind that tbh. Far Cry is pretty fun and these visuals are gorgeous.
So um, does this guy identify as a vampire?
I not really a fan of the films or Ubisoft games but this looks gorgeous.
I love that they show off the “tech” by just using the same stuff we already saw in the trailer.
Really shows confidence…
ok
Let’s hope it will also support DLSS because otherwise it will run like a*s.

Disney owns Avatar now? What exactly do they not own?
I think this game should offer a third person view in some instances.
Man bad! Trees good! The game!
