Madden NFL 22 feature

Madden NFL 22 on PC will be based on the old-gen version

EA has just announced the latest part in its Maden NFL series, Madden NFL 22. However, and similarly to FIFA 21, the PC version of Madden NFL 22 will be based on the old-gen console version.

What this means is that the PC version will not have the gameplay features that will be present in Madden NFL 22 Next-Gen. These features are Dynamic Gameday, Gameday Atmosphere, Gameday Momentum, Next Gen Stats Star-Driven AI, Home Field Advantage,  and Star-Driven AI. Furthermore, its graphics will not be as good as what PS5 and Xbox Series X owners will be getting.

As the official press release of Madden NFL 22 reads:

“Dynamic Gameday, Gameday Atmosphere, Gameday Momentum, Next Gen Stats Star-Driven AI, Home Field Advantage, Star-Driven AI are only available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.”

Needless to say that we strongly suggest avoiding Madden NFL 22 until EA starts treating PC gamers as first-class citizens. In November 2020, EA claimed that FIFA 21 was old-gen on PC because EA did not want to raise its PC system requirements. So yeah, don’t bother with this new sports game PC gamers. At least until EA puts some more effort to its PC versions!

    1. Probably because its cheaper, the old engine can scale up on PC and it would cost additional money to port the new one to PC. They also probably want the next gen games to look good in comparison on console.

      1. Both consoles are PC arch. Several developers have said porting wise its very easy to do.

So this is them being lazy

    2. They need to sell the new consoles, shame they have to say f*ck you to PC players while at it. And I dont even care about these games.

      1. I get your point. Personally I don’t think because it’s on pc people won’t buy consoles. I use to think that but I’ve come to realize it’s not true. Or rather not majorly true.

For example there’s no reason to buy an Xbox, yet people still do. Even tho Microsoft has their games on PC. Halo infinite on pc etc

    1. I’ve wanted this for years. Signed the petitions. Pretty sure EA just doesn’t think it would be profitable. The NHL games don’t make a ton of money afaik, hence why EA don’t put money into it and they barely change year to year.

  1. It’s mainly because of Multiplayer. The online MP communities will largely migrate to the newest games. If someone actually want to do play pubs online, they’re pretty much forced onto the newest game.

Obviously if you only play SP then just stick with the one copy for years and you’ll probably be content. There’s active modding communities for most annualised sports games on PC. Newer roster updates often are provided by fans.

Private MP lobbies with friends will be fine for a few years but publishers often shut down the servers of annualised sports games that are 3+ years old.
