Zona Ste90 is currently working on a Tremors fan game in Unreal Engine 4, and shared its first gameplay trailer. In addition, Zona plans to release a free demo so everyone can download and play it.
From the looks of it, this is a third-person shooter game in which you can fight some of the iconic monsters from Tremors.
Now since this is created by a single person, you should temper your expectations. Still, the fact that this project has proper gameplay mechanics is really great. In other words, it’s way better than most of the fan Unreal Engine 4 remakes/recreations we’ve shared in the past. I mean, you’ll be able to at least play it.
There is currently no ETA on when the free demo will come out. Naturally, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. Kevin Bacon approved this…
The size of that backpack and the playermodel… Something just tells me Sergei Titov has something to do with this.
“the fact that this project has proper gameplay mechanics is really great”
What gameplay mechanics? You realize that this is almost 100% certain to be a scripted sequence?
Looks pretty good for a one man’s work. Keep it up, mate!
i like the intentional trashyness
Just a visual proof of concept, there’s no gameplay mechanics besides “you can walk and shoot and maybe jump but we edited that out”. The graboid thing seems to follow the player along the ground but cannot catch up to him because it’s going the same speed or slower. I guess they could put obstacles in your way and if you get stuck on something the graboid catches up and eats you. But the Tremors movies were all about interactions with the graboids’ senses, what they could and could not sense, how you could trick them. This would require intricate AI. The fact that they’re showing this off when they clearly have close to no AI yet means their priorities are all screwed up and the project isn’t going anywhere.
