Back in December we informed you about Codemasters being acquired by Electronic Arts. The acquisition is now formally completed for 1.2 billion dollars.
Codemasters is now officially a part of Electronic Arts. One of the most beloved publishers in the industry, and the inventors of the surprise mechanics, which every gamer adores.
According to EA’s executive vice president of strategic growth, Codemasters’ Studios will remain autonomous. “We will be treating the Codemasters’ studios as an independent group for the foreseeable future, giving them all the support they need to deliver their much-loved games and exploring all opportunities for growth as we go.”
Furthermore, the VP said that they saw further room for growth in the racing genre, which motivated the company to purchase Codemasters. “Our intent is to build on the success that Codemasters have generated, ensuring we help create a bright, brilliant and exciting future for racing fans, that’s populated by amazing games delivered into the hands of more players than ever before.”
Lastly, I’m wondering if Codemasters still own the license for Severance: Blade of Darkness. If they do, I would love to see a continuation, or even a remake. However, I do not see it happening any time soon, if ever.

Chris was born in the early 80’s along with the very birth of home gaming. After spending many maaany drachmas on arcades, his father decided to buy him a PC instead of going bankrupt. He lived through the advancing and development of the gaming industry, having played TONS of games on all platforms. He is always honest and will never hesitate to give his true opinion on a game no matter what. Loves stealth games and dislikes microtsansactions, DLC and pre-ordering…who doesn’t after all?!

The final nail in the coffin.
One year later on dsogaming “EA has shutdown codemasters, remaining employee shift to another studio”…
I wish, I really do. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Well EA can just close codemaster like she did all her other studios because i can’t even remember the last Codemasters game that was good.
To Codemasters:
When you dance with the Devil the Devil doesn’t change.
The Devil changes you.
But Codemasters is already the devil. Birds of a feather flock together.
And nothing of value was lost
F in chat bois 🙁
Are we talking about the same Denuvo Infested Codemasters here? Haha, man these people who are acting like an angel just signed with the devil. It’s Devil on Devil Butt loving here folks. Stop acting as if we lost something great here. Codemasters are finally where they belong. No one should be outraged about this.
another one bites the dust
RIP CodeMasters.
“exploring all opportunities for growth”
AKA micro-transactions, season passes, gambling mechanics and pay-to-win.
you mean surprise mechanics. not gambling.
And another one bites the dust.
More and more and more consolidation… by the giants.. In 2 years, TENCENT will buy EA Games….
Severance: Blade of Darkness was exactly what I was thinking too.
