Assassin’s Creed Valhalla had twice the number of active players than Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Ubisoft has announced exceptional player activity for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the latest iteration of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. As the press release reads, the number of active players on launch day for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla doubled that of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Furthermore, the game has reached high levels of viewership and engagement on Twitch and YouTube that surpass any Ubisoft game launch to date.

Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft co-founder and CEO, said:

“We are humbled by the reception from the players and extremely proud of what our teams have accomplished. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla builds on the amazing success of its predecessors. In the context of COVID-19, shipping Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on no less than seven platforms is an incredible achievement for us”.

Guillemot concluded that Valhalla will most likely be one of this season’s biggest hits.

Let’s now hope that Ubisoft will further optimize the game on the PC. As we’ve already reported, the game currently suffers from some optimization issues on the PC platform. Thus, let’s hope that Ubisoft will release a performance patch sooner rather than later.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. No wonder, the hype from all of the sites is crazy. I even saw ads on New York streets. Marketing budget must be crazy.

    1. They’re living their darkest moments since their creation, they’re going from a controversy to another collecting commercial failures in the way, not to mention a lot of their execs were fired or left the company, AC Valhalla is one of their last decent and bankable products so they’re focusing a lot on the marketing (that includes buying cheap streamers and reviewers) especially since the CP 2077 delay.
I wrote a review on french site giving it a 5/10, the review was upvoted enough to be pinned but it was taken down a day after, and a lot of people complained about their negative reviews disappearing on the site, all this while the 10/10 user reviews were kept so the user score can go higher

        1. Back in the day? They sell a lot to this day. And they are not necessarily bad, it’s worth a pirate at least (until they became super bloated and extremely online only)

        1. Standards? Different people judge games by different standards, you holder of the high standards.

By the way, you don’t know my preferences, do you? Try The Suffering, the first one though, not the sequel. You can get it on GOG. Then you will know more about my standards.

          1. You’re probably not going to run across a lot of people that played The Suffering although it did sell around 1.5 million copies. I passed on it when it first came out but played it later on.

I found it to be a fun mix of Shooter and Horror. I tried to save the key people but lost some and ended up with the Neutral Ending which was ok with me.

I would recommend it but not for the regular price of $10 especially with the GOG Winter Sale about a month away where you can probably pick it up for $2.50

          2. Looking back at my 20 years of PC gaming, it’s one of my favorite shooters. I wish they would remake it.

        1. My problem with these games is they are too bloated, with repetitive side quests which you have to complete in order to level up.

          1. to which i ask again, how many of those games do you have to play to get tired of doing the same thing over and over again?

          2. How many before you get tired? I guess it varies between one gamer and another. I’m sure there are even some people who never get tired.

    2. Most of these AAA games are nothing but marketing while the development expenses are minimal in comparison, same with Hollywood blockbusters.

          1. There is also Epic store who will offer an extremely online game for free next week or so (Elite Dangerous).

          2. We prefer to pirate every f*cking game that being made by sh*tty studios who s*cks chinese c*cks

    1. You have to hand it to them (EA)…..they actually managed to sell the same sh*t over and over…while making it seem like a whole new product….man this is crazy 😀

  2. To be fair. I paid 15 euros for Ubi+ for a month. Played new Watch Dogs two far cry games I didn’t play before, some Anno and now AC and I don’t intend to keep the sub. All for 15 euro. Thanks Ubi 😀 I don’t see how this monetization model makes any sense for Ubi.

      1. It doesn’t matter. I don’t intend to play those games more than once ever. So who gives a sh*t if I own them.

The way I see it is. They spend millions making these games and instead of charging me 60 or 70 each I paid 15 and I played them and I’ll never play them again and they wont get more money out of me. Economics don’t work for me for this.

  3. That’s because it’s a good game. However 90% of the PC gamers on this site will call it trash cause it’s ubisoft and they have less powerful PCs than current Xbox series X / PS5…

      1. Imagine, thinking you are playing in 4K with your conslow while in fact, it’s a shtty resolution upscaled with medium/high options at best ?

  4. If they still using that $hitty Anvil next engine, every PC version of their game will always have optimisation issues….

  5. And more then half have requested refunds. Me included. The game just feels so off. not having fun with it at all. In all honestly, I’m having way more fun playing Rune 2 Decapitation Edition. They really reworked that game. 10 times better then it originally was.
