After numerous hints, rumors and teasers, it’s finally official. Bioware has just announced that Mass Effect Remaster Trilogy, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, will release in 2021.
According to Bioware, Mass Effect Legendary Edition will feature better textures, shaders, character models, and effects. The team also claims that it will have better resolution and better framerates, however, these two “features” were already present in the PC versions of the original games.
Do note that Bioware will not remake these three games. Instead, the team aims to remaster them for current-gen platforms. So yeah, don’t expect a lot of changes. Bioware has also confirmed that the collection will feature all the DLCs that came out for these three Mass Effect games.
At this point, we don’t know whether the mods for the original games will work on these remasters. We also don’t know whether these remasters will be as friendly to the modders as the original games were.
From the looks of it, the earlier rumor about Mass Effect Legendary Edition was accurate. Also, and as we’ve already reported, you can already experience remastered versions of the first three Mass Effect games via these mods. So, until EA releases this official trilogy remaster, we suggest downloading these mods and playing the original versions.
Have fun!

By the sounds of this, nothing will change for PC really. I was kinda hoping they’d atleast rework the way the game controls and plays. But I guess nothing to be excited about and just stick with the originals. Because I can see what’s gonna happen now with the pc version, basically a couple shading changes then ship it off.
They should have did a full remake of Mass Effect 1.
They actually are reworking mass effect 1, they said theyre changing game mechanics and QOL for the game. do I believe them? no, but i dont really trust the games industry anymore. Would it be nice if they actually do what they say they are? absolutely
You are the saddest and loneliest person i have ever seen in my life who is criticizing nearly everything on planet earth .
Thanks to customers like you, EA will soon remaster remaster remaster Mass Effect in 2030 for several times, because brainwashed minions like you support their aggressive loyal fan base rip offs instead of getting their sht together and learning from their past mistakes.
Why I do i get the feeling these will be a low effort remaster. ?????
Because it’s EA and EA is cancer. Also Bioware is dead.
I am still gonna buy it because everything including DLC’s will be packed together , to this day acquiring full trilogy with full DLC’s is so confusing on steam specially acquiring dlc of mass effect 2 which are the best .
can’t wait for EA’s check that they’re going to give me for playing this game.
Based on the need for speed remaster which looked like nothing more then reselling the same game… i will be shocked if this game somehow looks any different. I already own the games too so there really is nothing to be excited about. hope they prove me wrong. but 9 out of 10 remasters from company’s are always a disappointment. Especially when you compare them to user made mods.
I think this package will appeal to console gamers and to PC gamers that don’t know how to mod and won’t spend a few minutes watching a Youtube video to learn how to.
the people you see on torrent comments not knowing how to mount a .iso LOOL
it will still be good deal for pc considering acquiring the trilogy on steam with all DLC’s is big pain the ar** specially the DLC’s of mass effect 2 which are the best and requires seperate activation on ea servers but within the game bioware servers don’t work so have to log in with ea servers whatever its all a confusing mess . Also the full XBOX360 controller support is a big feature which will appeal to a lot of PC gamers. I know there is a mod for controller but it is not perfect and has some bugs here and there.
Fingers crossed they actually put some effort into them as it’s a great series.
no chance. Not even new or upscaled texture will be used. It will be 100% the same games that simply run at 4k.
So they do these remasters only for console generation…because PC can do it with “Mods”…and mods are not bringing money to developers…so these remasters are designed for consoles rather than PC,on PC a remake will be good, same what Hangar13 did with mafia 1 or how Demon Souls will be.Remaster is not a Remake,Consoles need remasters PC don’t…they release Pc version for the remastered only as cash grab(EA cannot make money from mods)
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say 😀
“Excellent”
(sarcasm of course and an inside reference for dsog regulars)
ah yes the fernando brainless robot reference. very nice
he’s a nice dude, I like him, I think he has come to terms with the way he has been programmed.
JK though, people here are all nice, most of the time
I’m not sure that I would call him nice. He’s been down voted enough times by plenty of people to know that his “excellent” comments are annoying yet he keeps doing it.
hence his being a clinically fascinating case
all jokes aside though, everyone has a right to an opinion, be it pleasant or annoying, that’s what liberty of speech is. let him be 🙂
Good Job EA!
it’s gonna be 4k 120fps on Series X! WOW. Even RTX 3090 wont be enough for this glorious remaster!
Will be funny if they release these “remasters” on PC without gamepad support, while the mods already added perfect gamepad into all 3 gameas, AND we had UHD HQ textures for years, not just some resized ones but actual, HQ remade textures with tons of details in them.
“At this point, we don’t know whether the mods for the original games will work on these remasters.”
-They won’t
“We also don’t know whether these remasters will be as friendly to the modders as the original games were.”
-They won’t
I hope this gets released on GOG store but lol im still gonna buy it on steam because GOG’s regional pricing in my country sucks and games on steam are sometimes 2x cheaper on steam as compared to GOG. Few games which are priced same on both platforms then i always buy on GOG or if the price difference is negligible .
The original games might get a GOG release and that’s a faint might.
Thanks, I’m out. Not re-paying for slightly redefined lighting and uplifted contrast, graphics when I could install mods for free that does similar improvements.
