Godfall will not have an offline mode, will require an internet connection to play

Godfall is a third-person fantasy action RPG that will release next month. However, it appears that this new game will not have an offline mode. Instead, PC gamers will need a constant Internet connection, even for its single-player campaign.

Gearbox and Counterplay Games claim that Godfall won’t be a service game. However, this does not mean that the game will not require a constant internet connection to play.

Godfall is set in a brand new high fantasy universe, filled with heroic knights, arcane magic and forbidden realms. The game attempts to combine action RPG elements/looting with melee combat. Naturally, players will be also able to customize their characters.

Godfall will release on November 12th,and will be exclusive to Epic Games Store.

We expect Gearbox to reveal the game’s official PC system requirements soon, so stay tuned for more!

      1. they wont stop making them despite they flop. They destroyed one gen of consoles, no need to do that to the next, no games.

  1. 1. next gen graphics lol more like hd texture pack and enb
    2. 70 bucks
    3. looter shooter grindfest
    4. always online till the studio closes down
    5. special events like the black lives matter in fortnite
    6. micro transactions

This is how next gen is gonna be,no thanks.

  2. Sometimes they make me doubt if they are pro or against guns since these pos sure like to shoot themselves dead before the product is out with bvllshit like this.

  3. Someone explain what’s the huge problem with always online games?

Aren’t our PCs always connected either way?

    1. You shouldnt require internet service to launch a game, when that game has a single player mode. What if you have a limited quota? what if you want to play in a place without internet connection? not everyone lives in the first world and internet so far doesnt grow on trees.

      1. Yeah but we all play games with Steam on, have Discord/Skype/Teamspeak/etc on.

I mean, i can understand the quota thing (even though we don’t have it here in Greece) but do you really go to offline mode in Steam when you want to play a game that doesn’t really require an internet connection?

        1. That’s not the point. In an ideal world you shouldnt require a third party launcher to run a game…but here we are, unless you pirate it.
Internet being common for you (and me) doesnt mean is it for everyone, and being another requisite for a game (when is clearly a bullsh*t one…we are not talking about an MMO with a subscription system here) is questionable at least when they claim it to not be a GASS (i doubt it won’t be/become one).

          1. Let me give an example. The Witcher 3. It’s on Steam. It doesn’t need always-on internet connection. You play fine, spend 100 hours to do every bit in the maps you’re in, side quests, areas etc. And your windows installation crashes. You lose the save files.. Completely. You have to start over. From the beginning.

With Steam (thus, always on connectivity and file syncing) you reinstall windows, steam, the game and voila, you can continue from where you let off.

I don’t really mind always on internet connectivity. And you know what the funny part is? That for having an opinion that’s completely different than yours (not speaking personally) i get downvoted. Funny as Hell, really.

Still, on topic. I don’t mind if it needs always on, and tbh, after i messed with my windows installation and had to reinstall windows, i was EXTREMELY happy to see my TW3 saves to be there for me.

            Thanks for the discussion mate.

          2. I have never used the cloud saving feature once, AFAIK Witcher 3 saves are local on my disk…i reinstalled many times Windows 10 since that game launched, more that i can count…i have the saves from 2015 still here (along my other games), i don’t need internet for that.
I get that is a cool convenience, but is not a justification for having internet to LAUNCH a game, a single player one.

          3. We don’t really know what the game will be like. There may be a mode similar to dark souls where you’d have occasional PvP “invasions”.

I don’t disagree with the fact that it’s not needed but it doesn’t bother me either.

On the TW3 save games, those save games are saved on your C: drive, under your account name directory. It could be enabled on its own through Steam.

Cloud syncing is a great feature. And we’re talking about a game’s save files. I’m totally against personal files on the cloud.

Then again, most of us use web-based email accounts so….

          4. Dark Souls has a offline mode.
Like i said, and i think we are on the same page in that, i would understand if the game was a game as a service or had some kind of subscription system, where internet is mandatory for obvious reasons. But in the case of this game, they already said it wont be and it has a single player mode…so why internet? it doesnt makes sense.

          5. We don’t know yet. We will know after the game’s being released. As i said, maybe it has a DS invasion mode that’s not made known by the developer yet. Or maybe it’s got an instant save algorithm what saves the game at the spot you currently are.

It’ll be cleared in about a month.

          6. but maybe i want to play offline and don’t have any invasions?

dude lets be real. Its always online because its ps5 lunch title and it requires PS plus subscription to play. Sony paid them so they make it like that to further milk idiots that will buy ps5.

          7. Does that mean that if the developer wanted it to not be always on, it couldn’t be done because the PS5 version is always on?

          8. Why PC should pay for the limitations that PS5 already has? i don’t care for the ifs. We know developers hardly have a say on this things, is usually the publisher behind it…or just Sony in this case trying to even the platforms, so the PS5 doesnt look THAT bad on launch….when the platforms are anything but even (if you consider PC competition)

          9. I’m not really sure Sony doesn’t want the competition since they’re stated that they’ll release more PS games on the PC.

Anyway, people have different opinions and that’s awesome.

          10. Having to be always connected and having cloud saves is not the same thing. The game can cloud save when you do have internet connection and simply not save when you don’t.

    2. Let’s put our thinking caps on here, genius. It gives it an expiration date. Want expiration dates on your movies and music too?

Want to be told when you are done with something by a company? Then keep supporting this garbage, because you’re furnishing the path for them with your stupidity.

      VoiceOfLogic…….. what a laugh.

      1. I just came from Reddit and they have People like that dude all over there, by the thousands. They are pro this type of behavior, they just use ignorance to strike up a post then beat you over the head with every line you explain. “Someone explain what’s the huge problem with always online games?” <----- that is pure bait. That's why I never respond to it. Just look at his last line of reasons to you and your this guy already have the answer to his post he just wants to get in an entanglement. VoiceOfLoL: "P.S. The same could happen to your windows installation but i don't see people screaming against it.". <---- No it couldn't, Windows just doesn't stop working, not one of them ever have.

        1. Haha, ya, I blocked the guy anyways, so I won’t be seeing any replies from him. I knew it was bait, but….. I was just in one of those moods to respond.

That Windows hypothetical is rather funny. Some people……..

          1. “That Windows hypothetical is rather funny. Some people……..” <---- LMAO, exactly. They are so dumb with it. The sad part is they think they are right and that's what makes em dangerous. But thanks that was s good laugh indeed.

      2. Wait, you attacking is a way of having a conversation? Is it because i have a different opinion than you? I mean, seriously?

The same could happen to when you install the game AFTER it’s been “told to expire”. How does this make any difference?

If you want to discuss something, be my guest. If you just want to troll/engage in a fiery argument/try to show as someone important just because there are some people who disagree with me, i’d suggest you stopped right here.

P.S. The same could happen to your windows installation but i don’t see people screaming against it.
        Until the next time
        ?

    3. hmm lets see only internet i have is t-mobile LTE that works sometimes… was interested in godfall but all always online games get hard pass from me as internet is luxury where i live.

  4. Eh… what else can be said? Everyone else in here has already done such a good job in mocking this worthless pile of dogs**t. Stick a fork in it.

  5. usually games that require a constant connection these days are considered and treated as live service titles.

  6. hating on store that is actually good and even if it wasn’t still you hate store… go get help and life.

    1. You can gladly keep your sh*tty game…keep paying your crappy monthly subscription for playing the games (specially this optional SINGLE PLAYER game) you already own with the IPS you already contracted and paid for in the first place.

  7. ***is set in a brand new high fantasy universe, filled with heroic knights, arcane magic and forbidden realms. The game attempts to combine action RPG elements/looting with melee combat.***
