Crysis Remastered releases in a few hours, and LinusTech has just shared some initial performance impressions of it. Linus used the latest NVIDIA GPU, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX3080, and ran the game in 4K with its “Can it Run Crysis?” settings.
According to Linus, the RTX3080 was able to push 25-32fps with those settings. From the video footage, we can clearly see the GPU having some trouble running the remaster of Crysis. We can also clearly see some annoying stutters. So yeah, don’t expect to be playing the game in 4K/”Can it Run Crysis?” with more than 35fps anytime soon.
Linus then decreased the game’s settings in order to improve performance. Although he did not show the settings he used, he was still unable to get a constant 60fps experience on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX3080. The RTX3080 was pushing from 41fps to 70fps with these undisclosed graphics settings. Given the fact that RTX3080 is around 30% faster than the RTX2080Ti, we can assume that Crytek’s PC system was limited by the AMD Ryzen CPU during its 1080p benchmark.
In case you’re wondering, Linus used an Intel i9 10900k with 32GB of RAM, running at 3200Mhz.
As we’ve already reported, Crysis Remastered will not support with DLSS 2.0 at launch. Crytek promised to add support for it via a post-launch update.

I can put 8k textures and ray tracing in Skyrim right now, then run it at 4k with ENB and get 20fps, doesnt make it a next gen experience. Dont get me wrong, it is kinda cool to see this but its also kinda distasteful to see the company who built the original just take their old game and throw a bunch of modern post process effects in there then resell it.

Still going with the 3080 is only 30% faster than 2080Ti i see. Even though it was 43% faster in horizon for example, AIB boards will be better cooled and higher clocked, drivers will mature in the coming months, and next gen games are yet to come out and take advantage of it.
Some of the reviews are kind of sad tho ;/ 1 fps or 2 at most. Cooling seems a tiny bit better but not by a lot. This is the first time i’m not sure if its worth buying them for extra 50-100 over the base FE model. Usually FE’s are crap, but not this time.

To be honest, this actually isn’t that bad given that there is no DLSS. That usually adds a massive performance boost. Raw Raytracing (without hardware optimizations) at native 4k is incredibly straining on a GPU.
I wonder if Saber Interactive utilized the new concurrency of the RT Cores + Tensor Cores + SM in their RTX implementation. If they haven’t, there’s still a LOT of headroom for performance improvements.

My point was about the concurrency, not the RT Cores themselves. Ampere allows for the work on the RT Cores to be done WHILE the tensor cores and SM are working.
That’s done automatically, there’s nothing for the programmers to do to enable this.

Programmers (especially with Vulkan/DX12) have extremely explicit access to the GPU. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had to manually use some form a job system to push tasks onto the respective components.

I saw a video about two guys trying to determine which screen looked better between a 4K and an 8K TV without being told one screen was 4K and the other 8K. They could not see a difference and even thought the 4K TV looked better.

Yeah theses FPS are definitely due to bad optimization and/or engine design. Look at Flight Sim at how much more real it looks and the insane details, volumetric clouds, lighting, weather effects and so on, yet it runs much better. Even in Flight Sim when you’re close to the ground or close to anything, it still looks better than this. You can also compare against Doom 2016/Eternal, which looks WAY better, more detailed everything yet runs surprisingly fast.
Of course, it’s no surprise that Cry Engine is a dog. It’s always been that way.
Crytek at this point is trying to create hype through controversy…showing that the 30 series is struggling with 60FPS and brining RT to current gen. Wait till the game is out and a modder changes a few values in the .ini file and reveals this truth behind all this marketing bull.

Sounds like a terribly optimized game. There is no reason that game should run like that. It’s almost like it is purposely programmed badly just to keep that crysis meme going. I call Bulls#### to this game actually being demanding.
The point of that preset is that there is no optimization at all. It loads ALL LoDs at all times at their maximum quality regardless of distance to camera. That completely kills CPU and GPU with draw call load. It is there more as a joke and meme than real setting really.

With the ridiculous RTX 3090 and DLSS 2.0, Crysis Remastered should be playable…of course NOT with 8x MSAA.
The guy goes from “high”(there’s also a very high setting) to “Can it run Crysis” on the video and there’s no f*king difference (other than tanking the FPS).

4k diminishing returns, its why Nvidia came up with DLSS. If the game supported DLSS youd be looking at 70-120 fps at 4k. The benchmarks for Control were similar results in performance fwith no DLSS.
