It appears that we have some official confirmation from AMD regarding the company’s planned product roadmap, which includes the Zen 3 CPU lineup, and RDNA2-based NAVI GPUs. This confirmation just comes after Frank Azor’s tweet, in which he hinted at a possible reveal date of AMD’s products.
Today AMD today announced that it will host two separate events this coming October. The first event will cover the Zen 3 CPU architecture, and the Ryzen 4000 series of Vermeer processors. This event is scheduled for October 8th.
After that AMD plans to showcase its Radeon RX 6000 NAVI GPU lineup on October 28th, based on the RDNA 2 architecture. The RX 6000 Series nomenclature has also been confirmed via a Tweet. The Navi GPU lineup is going to be announced before the next-gen gaming consoles. We can expect the availability of the new Navi 6000 series graphics cards around November.

To quote AMD:
“Preparing to delight gamers globally with the next horizon of Radeon Graphics, we invite you to learn more about our RDNA 2 architecture, Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards, and our deep collaboration with game developers and ecosystem partners who will help us bring the best of Radeon to gamers. Tune in for the reveal of the future of Radeon PC gaming at 12 p.m. ET, October 28th”.
RDNA 2 GPUs are expected to be fabbed on an optimized 7nm process node, and they will support hardware-level ray tracing as well, and are expected to deliver a 50% increase in performance per watt over previous-gen RDNA arch, along with an improved performance-per-clock (IPC), and a logic enhancement that helps reduce the design complexity and switching power. GPU clock speeds are also going to get a boost.
One RDNA 2 teaser reads, “A breakthrough gaming architecture”. Another teaser has also confirmed that the upcoming Zen3 architecture will come with a dual CCD and a single separate I/O die.

Hello, my name is NICK Richardson. I’m an avid PC and tech fan since the good old days of RIVA TNT2, and 3DFX interactive “Voodoo” gaming cards. I love playing mostly First-person shooters, and I’m a die-hard fan of this FPS genre, since the good ‘old Doom and Wolfenstein days.
MUSIC has always been my passion/roots, but I started gaming “casually” when I was young on Nvidia’s GeForce3 series of cards. I’m by no means an avid or a hardcore gamer though, but I just love stuff related to the PC, Games, and technology in general. I’ve been involved with many indie Metal bands worldwide, and have helped them promote their albums in record labels. I’m a very broad-minded down to earth guy. MUSIC is my inner expression, and soul.

They’re going to lose a bunch of sales to Nvidia for taking their sweet time.
If they could beat Nvidia they would announce it earlier. They are not going to be able to do it. Maybe they could get away with something a little cheaper than the 3070 that is a little less powerful but with sh*te drivers.
That’s if the stock for Ampere is there
This is a bad move. A lot of people have purchased Zen 2… I one of them with my 3700X. But not a lot of people own AMD GPU’s. RDNA2 should be 1st that way people will not just rush out and buy Nvidia 3000 series GPU’s. Unless RDNA2 will only cover performance between a 3070 / 3080 I could see AMD holding off till Oct but man that wait since most people will get the 3070 for $499.
Definitely gonna wait to see what AMD brings to the table before upgrading from my GTX 1080. Worst comes to worst, the RTX 3080 isn’t going anywhere, and there will be more partner models (and reviews of those models) out if I wait a couple of months.
Yeah, I’m planning to upgrade my 10 yr old pc. Guess i’ll wait. But the problem that still persist is AMD driver is not up to par with NVIDIA.
I really hope AMD gives Nvidia a good kick in the teeth. Ampere fixes a lot of the issues Turing had (namely price), but that isn’t going to keep up if we don’t get a competitive marketplace soon.
Tired of AMD and their waiting game. Hopefully intel wakes up and brings the big guns. I want to build a DDR5 PC with the fastest per core performance available.
There is no DDR5….. AMD already has PCIe 4.0.
I will be getting a 3080 asap. Looking forward to the Zen 3, hope it’s good stuff.
Same, I just hope i can get one before theyre all sold out.
It will be nice to build a Zen 3 / RTX 3080 / 64 GB DDR4 / 1 TB nvme m.2 PC in November.
My thoughts exactly! In My case I want to go with a new TR build(Zen 3 or a good price on Zen 2) since I use My comp for work everyday and gaming, currently My 1950x build has been amazing.
Good times!
64?
This pretty much screams “we’re not competing!”.
Excellent, lets see what AMD will offer. ?
They might want to hurry up and let everyone know what they’re up to before everyone goes and buys the new Nvidia cards.
You’re gonna buy Nvidia regardless, so it shouldn’t matter to you. You will never buy AMD. All you want is for AMD to help you get Nvidia $50 cheaper.
That’s what they’re good at, no?
Of course. But i’m not everyone.
Very late Nvidia is gonna sell tons until then. Lots of people are looking to upgrade especially after a long GPU generation of mediocrity and with the new gen being way cheaper and stronger… Nvidia is attractive.
Regarding CPUs they are pretty good in that aspect with bright future.
I am from Greece i know how the economy is especially in those COVID times, however COVID or not you can’t forget a simple fact.
2080Ti costs +1300$ right now, 3070 will cost 500$. I doubt its gonna be 500$, it will easily be 650$ in the first few months because of huge demand.
Even so it will be HALF the price of a 2080Ti for similar performance. This is legit some high end hardware and it is not meant to be accessable to a casual user, COVID or not.
Hell, they are reducing the average price of a high-end part (after so many years or mediocre releases) by +100%
If you want accessable hardware wait for 3060, 3050 or w/e, can’t expect “cheap” from xx70 ++
Of course, RTX 2000 series was overpriced because
1) It had some new expensive tech (RT cores)
2) Nvidia capitalized on it because AMD wasn’t even close to competing
However now RT is going 2nd gen (cheaper) they bought Samsung’s LIDL 8nm which is cheaper than 7nm and AMD is probably going to compete.
3000 in comparison is WAY cheaper compared to 2000 and closer in value to old generations which didn’t an cost an arm and a leg.
This is good. However lets not expect a xx70 or a xx80 series to be super cheap, they are supposed to be like the top with xx90 being the top of the top of the top.
Want value ? Probably xx50/xx60/xx60Ti or w/e.
Cant wait for Zen 3, been on 1st gen TR tired of the low IPS was gonna get a Zen 2 but now I will wait. Also take your time with the GPUs, even if they dont beat Nvidia Ill wait until they AMD releases their latest, it will lower the price for Nvidia cards its not like anyone will be able to buy their new 30 series anyway they will get sold out in an hour lol
Same, I am on a 1st Gen TR as well and honestly paired with My 1080 Ti I never had any issues in any game. The IPS really doesn’t matter as some make it out to be(I play on 5760×1080 60FPS).
Having said that I can’t imagine how insane the Zen 3 TR will be with all the updates, heck the Zen 2 TR right now are pretty amazing and has everything you really need already! I am going to go with a 3080 personally if I can get it.
Me with 980Ti (cca 300 dollars yeeears ago), waiting for RDNA2 to see how they compare to RTX 3080. I have doubts about 3090….. not sure if AMD could deliver (I think not).
My guess is:
12GB DDR6 Card for $599
16GB DDR6 Card for $999
