Embracer Group, the parent company of THQ Nordic, has acquired the developers behind Metro 2033 and Metro Exodus, 4A Games. In addition, Embracer Group has acquired DECA Games, New World Interactive, Palindrome Interactive, Pow Wow Entertainment, Sola Media, Rare Earth Games, and Vermila Studios.
Matt Karch, CEO Saber Interactive and Director of the Embracer Board, said:
“With the acquisition of 4A Games, Saber Interactive is locking-up one of the best indie studios in the industry with the potential and capacity to take on another AAA project and are also internalizing the value of existing and future IPs into the Group. Saber solidifies its position as a leader in the CIS and Ukrainian game developer market. Combining our technology and capabilities with 4A Games presents tremendous opportunity for growth and expansion.”
From what we know so far, 4A Games is currently working on the next Metro game. While we don’t know much, we know that Dmitry Glukhovsky, author of the Metro novels, will write the game’s story. Since the game has not been officially announced yet, we can also assume that it will be coming on next-gen platforms. We can also assume that it will be using a new version of the 4A Engine. Additionally, my guess is that this new Metro game will also feature Ray Tracing effects. After all, Metro Exodus offers some of the best Ray Tracing effects to date.
Speaking of Metro Exodus, the game does no longer have the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Sadly, and even though Metro Exodus was one of the first games to support DLSS, it does not support its latest version, DLSS 2.0.
Stay tuned for more!

Hope from now on their future titles won’t be Epic timed exclusive.
We’re talking about people who threatened PC gamers to not release games on their platform anymore instead of discussing the exclusivity deal, i guess it’s exclusivity or nothing with this guys
It will still be an EPIC EXCLUSIVE upon release. Turns out these developers have more say in what the studio does or doesn’t do than people think. There are only a handful of developers like that where the publishers give them full reign to make these decisions. that Epic deal nonsense wasn;t just the publisher alone and they even said in an interview that future of the franchise will be released like that. There has not been one metro game that hasn’t been mauled by controversy and the same publisher publishes many franchises that doesn’t adhere to the BS that metro franchise has been doing. Most of their games from the publisher has been DRm-Free and day one GoG release. But 4A Games is a Kunt and it’s that simple. I understand they work hard on this masterpiece but they think it justifies them bleeding it for all it’s got. So expect the next one to go Epic Exclusive as well, it’s a good deal for them and that’s all they care about..
Dude they literally threatened PC community, I doubt without any publisher that it would be different lol, they are greedy, and you can really tell they dont give a rat’s a$$ about their fans lol
Yeah man that’s why I called it out. Because People/Gamers are under the impression that it is always the publisher that’s doing the dirt. When alot of these big studios with big IPs are the ones calling the shots. They just have a publisher for the wallet backing. Yeah man 4A Games are pretty scummy & I hate the fact that they make an IP that I love. They don’t care about the fans. They year PC players like 2nd class citizen. The platform where their games live on, generation after generation and makes then the most money. They do it cause they know they can get away with it. No respect at all man.
They literally sh*t on pc community and even threatened that we wont get a pc release at all, what do you expect from epic games D suckers.
It wasn’t “them”, it was one stupid individual dev.
4A Games reportedly didn’t know about this Epic exclusivity deal, they were not even informed or consulted.

“Together we will continue to build on the Metro franchise and will focus on bringing a multiplayer experience to our fanbase.”
They already been slaves for Deep Silver before the acquisition, i guess now they’ll serve them coffee every morning and clean their shoes…
Bethesda with Wolfenstein, The Evil Within, Prey and Dishonored series
Actually, the operating group they’re under inside Embracer is Saber Interactive, not Koch Media/Deep Silver, so they Deep Silver has nothing to do with Metro anymore outside them working for the same publishing group.
It doesn’t really matter though, 4A has been trash for quite some time.
saber interactive? So timeshift 2 when? Also isnt saber russian? So the unkranians once again owned by russians.
No, none of that, Activision owns that IP/franchise and that game is long gone and forgotten, you’re stuck in 2007 dude.
Activision would rather sit on that and do nothing with it, than ever giving it to the competition, just like most of these AAA companies.
Sadly, just how it works, Saber got it’s paycheck, Activision got a few millions out of it, as Timeshift did ok even if not monumentally well like Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 at the time, and kept the franchise while Saber moved on from Activisions greedy paws.
Saber usually does contract jobs, Halo MCC PC, Crysis Remastered and World War Z being the most relevant right now.
Both 4A Games and New World Interactive will continue on their current projects with support from Saber staff, we will have to see if Saber interferes in future ones.
Do expect New World Interactive games to be Epic Game Store exclusives though, that I can guarantee you.
The franchise is dead!
Metro is all about a focused, deep, and quality SP…no co-op, no MP BS!
Absolutely
GOG release had nothing to do with 4A, or it wouldn’t have taken 7 years to get 2033 on GOG. Deep Silver had, and still has no interest in a GOG release.
When Exodus was released on Steam, after Epic exclusive ended, a Deep Silver Exec said they had no plans for a GOG release.
THQ Nordic on the other hand have a very strong relationship with GOG, and all THQ Nordic games release on GOG, and only since THQ Nordic bought Deep Silver, have any Deep Silver games released on GOG.
It’s perfectly clear, only THQ Nordic has the power to force Deep Silver, to release on GOG, as they own Deep Silver’s a*s (and now 4A Games as well)..
I just wanted to say I dont forget what companies do, I aint buying a single garbage game of theirs.
What did they do – did they touch you somewhere inappropriate?
Hopefully the next Metro game will be more akin to the franchise’s first two games as opposed to the terminally boring Metro Exodus.
you joking right? it was the mst metro game and the best post apocalyptic game to date.
I do not want everything to be an open world game.
good thing it wasnt then. Which is why i said i liked it to much, it cut down the fat.
Wasnt much of Metro in the Metro Exodus game besides the introduction…while i like the more open maps, they didn’t add much to the series imho. I prefer a more focus game, like the previous ones. Didnt try the DLC’s, are those more in line with 2033 and Last Light?
For a sandbox post apocalyptic game we have Stalker already (given that 2 would be on the level of the original, fingers cross).
The Two Colonels is decent in it first half, linear lvl design with a focus on atmospheric horror, just like 2033, the second half is boring at first, and a complete rushed garbage near the ending.
I just started the second DLC which seems more like the Exodus formula, more open ended
what did you want it to add?
The prologue and the 1st map are very good, the problem comes with the second and the 3rd map, the 2nd (The desert) is really dull, it has it moments, but the exploration, the atmosphere, the monsters, and the side quest are so poor compared to the 1st. The last one (The forest in the E3 Trailer) is a complete nonsense, it’s literally designed like a big linear level instead of being really open ended, you’re driven from an objective to an another until you find yourself fighting the boss, which is an insult to boss fights BTW, the only option you have to explore the map is backtracking, the Epilogue is decent tho.
I assume you wanted to say “best” by saying “mst” lol, Exodus is indeed the most ambitious of the saga, but the less focused
It’s far from garbage, but a lot of things done wrong
the last 2 games were more borring.
I preferred the first two games also.
so long 4a games!
how about they make a new ip already?
Seems 4a games love to bend over and boot lick every single company no matter what. Havent they suck off epic games enough literally being slaves for them ? I still havent bought or played metro exodus I m not like those idiots who say they boicot the game and on release playing it lol. I aint care for their sh**ty games anyway
pirate it like the rest of us, it’s so easy.
I dont support piracy, I buy my games since 2010
too bad, get fcked then.
not really
Problem with that argument is it just means the folks in the Sales department will say: “Data shows that 98% of our sales on the PC platform were on EGS, the rest being 1.5% on Steam and 0.5% on GOG. We can conclude that most of our fans are on EGS anyway and that the exclusive relationship with Epic was beneficial to the company since, in addition to sales, we earned an additional 1.5 million dollars from Epic for the exclusivity.”
There is no way the Sales department would put 2 and 2 together and figure out that someone like you may have bought the game had it launched on Steam first, and that you are not like dagoat who would just pirate everything despite being vocal about the exclusivity and threat of boycott.
Not saying that you should rush and buy the game – I have not played any Metro games so far myself! Just saying that Sales departments generally don’t care and don’t super analyze at an individual level as to your state of mind. There is no way for them to know the percentage of people who are in your situation (they don’t do “what if” scenarios), so the less sales are made on Steam, the more you are indirectly supporting Epic who would then be able to boast that “98% of sales of this AAA game were on our platform! And you get free money from us too if you sign up for exclusivity! It is a win-win for you! Maybe you would be willing to sign up so that we publish your game instead? It is not like you will lose much by not being on Steam anyway – look at the data! Give us exclusivity permanently!”
Money money money…. this industry is made of SHIT… It is Epic Games that drove the final nail in the face of this stinky industry… F*ck these Chinese s*ckers

these Chinese s*ckers
man the amount of whining is pretty crazy for a video games site
Well we can say goodbye to their games releasing on Steam day 1, because going by the recent deals THQN has made with Epic, it’s likely they’ll carry on with making those deals.
Saber Interactive is a/b to be the next Beth or R*
