Back in June 2020, the RPCS3 team released a new version of RPCS3 that brought major performance improvements in various games. And today, a brand new version of the best Playstation 3 emulator came out, bringing major graphical improvements in Metal Gear Solid 4, inFamous 1 and 2, Ninja Gaiden and other games.
Going into more details, this new RPCS3 version improves the lighting and shading in Metal Gear Solid 4. It also improves lighting and shading in Ratchet & Clank Future games, Resistance 1 & 2, and all the inFamous games.
Furthermore, this latest version of RPCS3 fixes the skybox and reflections in Bioshock Infinite. Additionally, it improves lighting on clouds in Red Dead Redemption. Killzone 2 also sees some lighting and smoke improvements, though it still suffers from performance issues.
It’s also worth noting that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 appears to be almost fully playable. This latest version improves shading on all characters. And, from what we can see, PC gamers can finally enjoy this game on the PC via emulation.
You can download the latest version of this Playstation 3 emulator from its official website. Below you can also find a video that highlights all of its major graphical improvements.
It’s also worth noting that RPCS3 can now allow you unlock the framerate on specific Playstation 3 games.
Enjoy!

“Tekken Tag Tournament 2… PC gamers can finally enjoy this game on the PC via emulation”
We’ve been able to play the Wii U version, and I presume also the Xbox 360 version, on PC via emulation for quite some time now!
nah xenia develop has been really slow compared to other emulators.
But it made huge progress nonetheless, when RPCS3 was in the same state, it had worse performance, it’s missing a proper UI and options i know, but it performs very well, it has better performance on RDR1 than RPCS3 at native res for example, it also runs GoW 3 almost perfectly at 60 fps (when shaders are complied), it’s really impressive considering it very early state
Yeah, and the wii u version also works great… I hope they will add controller shake emulation for No more heroes on PS 3.. Its a bit annoying, Wii version depends on motion so much , and PS3 emulation a bit irritate me for that shake movement cannot be mapped anywhere
f****k sony!! (and u are right!) https://media2.giphy.com/media/R9YeL5bxPc34c/giphy.gif
Having great minds like the ones working on RPCS3 is truely a blessing.kudos to them.
In other PlayStation series emulation news there’s now a 64-bit .exe branch of PCSX2.

Nice. Wasn’t aware of this. Very cool.
Reportedly no performance advantage at this stage but it’s obviously a welcome development for the longer term future of PCSX2.
Indeed. This was my primary concern, was the long term of the emulator. Hopefully it may entice some development into a Retroarch core someday as well.
In any case, good news all the same.
any improvements?
damn those games look so good.
I played Ninja Gaiden earlier this year with Core i3 6100 and GTx 1060 and it already playable almost perfectly …
I played the 2 GoW Collections (PS2 and PSP episodes) on RPCS3 and they were running very well (4k 60 fps), same for Killzone HD (4k 30 fps) the later can be played at 60 fps with a hack in the PS2 version via PCSX2 but the HD edition on PS3 is more crisp, i have an I5 8600K, you could try those games if you have a decent CPU, there’s a WIKI and a lot of videos on YB explaining what settings you should tweak for most games, especially the most popular ones, anyway if you need help let me know
Why would anyone play Bioshock Infinite or CoD4 on a PS3 emu when there are PC versions?
proof of concept
Well obviously yes, but the whole point of the emu is to play PS3 games on PC. Why bother with anything that is seemingly exclusive to these titles?
To make longer videos with more games inside…This is called marketting…Sorry for the sarcasm but there are no other reasons…Oh yes, maybe one : some ma**chist like to play inferior versions of games they like, human beings are a miserable pile of secrets
Maybe someone wanna see how they look on PS3 and compare.
year 2050 , still getting the news on dsogaming that red dead redemption is playable on the emulator .
Games that should have been ported 7 years ago with the new consoles, if ever. There is no excuse at all for MGS Legacy Collection to not have been released on PC by now, other than Konami’s sheer incompetence and disinterest in the video game market. Instead we get complete trash like Metal Gear Survive and half-a$$ed collections like Contra and Castlevania that don’t even have the best games in them.
Sony paid tons of money to fukonami to make sure that mgs4 stays exclusive to ps4 because at that time lot of games were snatched by xbox360 .
