Rumor: Battlefield 6 will be set in modern-day

While Battlefield 6 is not coming out anytime soon, it appears that it will be set in modern-day. This will definitely put a smile on most BF fans’ face, as this is something they’ve wanted since Battlefield 4.

Tom Henderson, who has previously leaked Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, claimed that the game will be set in modern-day. Then, Venturebeat’s Jeff Grubb tweeted that this information was legit.

From what we know so far, Battlefield 6 will be coming out in 2021 and will be available only on next-gen systems. Naturally, this new BF game will be using the latest version of the Frostbite Engine. Thus, let’s hope that it will showcase what the Frostbite Engine can achieve on next-gen hardware.

Unfortunately, there is nothing more to add at this point. Electronic Arts will hold its EA Play 2020 event next week, however, I don’t expect the publisher to showcase this new BF game. We might get a small teaser, however, don’t expect anything mind-blowing.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. “next gen frostbite engine” next gen bugs, lags, teleporting, just plain ol DICE and 10Hz mode.

  2. Maybe this time DICE will actually make DirectX12 faster than DX11. Along with CAPCOM, they are the only AAA devs who haven’t yet got a grip on how to properly leverage DX12 properly.

    1. Along with Capcom they’re one of the only 3 developers actually using Dx12 and Rebellion is actually doing it right.

    1. I hope it’s not Bad Company 3. DICE doesn’t have what it takes to make a fun game with cool characters.

    1. Actually that’d be awesome I’m going to call mine Wanda and scissor the sh*t outta noobs. Can disabled lesbians scissor?

  3. So will next one will be set in future or back to WW1 again ? Some of my ideas.
1.Battlefield fantasy. Dragons and Griffins as air vehicles. (Elves, Humans, Orcs, Dwarf as sides, more races as DLC-s) More than two side battles.
2.Battlefield Spacewar, Mutiple planets and aliens (Sci-Fi)
3.Battlefield Resistance: against Robots in not so far in the future.

    Innovate.

  4. I still wish they had completed the whole journey of BFV.
Adding, Soviets, Normandy, Italians, Kursk, Ardennes, Berlin and much more…
And improving the gameplay and quality of life with each update. * Sigh *

    1. DICE refused to create maps of iconic WW2 locations. That’s why there’s no Normandy map or D-Day map for rush or conquest.
Also it’s quite ironic that they’ve finally added accurate uniforms to the game but it’s only available through the in-game store.

  5. Console vs PC
    Left vs Right
    Female vs Male
    LGBTQ+ vs Straight
    Black vs White
    Lies vs Truth
    Mainstream Media vs Alternative Media
    Secret Societies vs The People
    Aliens vs Humans
    Demons vs Angels
    Satan vs God

      1. Dude you are way overthinking this. These are some potential themes for a modern Battlefield game. I am just bored with country vs country Battlefield games. I want something totally different that has not been done before. Right now reality is so much more interesting than any video game, movie and TV show.

  6. I’ve always been a HUGE battlefield fan but after the last two iterations i’m not holding my breath for anything. The fkin political messages in their game and dice’s stubborness is their downfall as of now.

I truly hope this will be a BF3/BF4 part2. Those were the good times in terms on content.

    1. EA DICE weren’t merely ‘stubborn’ with their hateful political nonsense. They publicly ridiculed and insulted their customers.

      1. Except BF4 was trash for a year after launch until they finally made it playable.

BF3 was a great game, yes.

        1. BF4 was trash even longer than a year, but afte DICE LA did some great things, BF4 was a decent shooter where there were no alternatives. If BF3 didn’t exist, BF4 would have been great.

BF3 was the best, BF1 was good even tho I hated it at launch, I grew to love it later and BFV as we all know, is dog sh*t a*s garbage.

          1. lol probably right. Honestly the last time I played it was after the night map update or whatever, the one after the “big netcode patch” which didn’t actually fix the game.

  7. Naturally, this new BF game will be using the latest version of the Frostbite Engine.

Let’s hope that this new version isn’t another downgrade. Don’t get me wrong, graphics are nice but if there’s no commander mode, more vehicles on the map, more destructible environments, weapon/loadout/emblem customization in the game menu, easier ways to track down multiple challenges, then Frostbite isn’t going forward.

  8. Imagine stating that like it means anything
Just like Call of Duty WW2, the setting doesn’t matter, these devs and publishers simply don’t make good games anymore.

  9. They should’ve made BF5 modern if they wanted to include women so bad. Doing it in a WW2 setting then having EA execs wh*ring out their kids to justify the obvious agenda was plain stupidity. Don’t know if I’ll buy BF ever again

  10. I have a better idea.

Don’t make one at all. No one wants this unfinished, games as a service utter trash. You’ve alienated the entire core field audience by releasing 3 unfinished,, bad games in a row. There’s no audience anymore.

  11. 2 Terribly mediocre games and I’m finally out. V was so bad I couldn’t bare even touching the campaign and was done after 5 hours of multiplayer.

The series really needs an adrenaline shot or it’s dead for good. Modern Warfare for all its flaws is miles ahead of the Battlefield games.

They really need to do something to stand apart from Call of Duty. So better/actual destruction would be a step in the right direction. Bad Company 3 needs to happen.
