Crysis 4

Crytek shares cryptic message, hinting at either Crysis 4 or Crysis Remake/Remaster

Back on April 1st, Crytek updated the official website for Crysis. And while its source code hinting at this being an April Fools joke, Crytek may very well be working on a new Crysis game. Earlier today, the team has shared a cryptic message, hinting at either Crysis 4 or Crysis Remake/Remaster.

Here is the message that Crytek has shared.

It doesn’t tell much, however, it’s pretty clear that this isn’t an April Fools joke anymore.

What I find really ironic here is that another April Fools joke we made may turn into a real thing. Back in April 2019, we claimed that Crytek was working on Crysis 4. Of course, that was a joke, however, here we are today with the team hinting at a Crysis game.

Let’s also not forget that Sony has ruined our 2018 April Fools joke. So yeah, that’s two out of two.

Anyway, my guess – at this point – is that Crytek hints at a Crysis Remaster and not at Crysis 4. Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether this Crysis Remaster will look better than Crysis with mods. It will also be interesting to see whether it will use real-time Ray Tracing.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. The message just says “Receiving Data”, nothing else, so it is unclear how this could only refer to Crysis. Could be anything.

“Sony has ruined our 2018 April Fools joke.”

They did not ruin anything and your announcement was for 2018, we are now in 2020 and we don’t have the game yet.

        1. Indeeedyy. Sometimes im shocked how good it looks even today. Games at that time looked reallyy bad compared to that. Crysis was like 3-4 years ahead of its time. Looks like a 2012-13 game but made in what? 2007?

          1. Recently i played all of the Crysis games, man it’s so damn good, some places in Crysis is just breathtaking, and Crysis 3 looks just it came out yesterday.

    1. Maybe a reboot if you want something new and maybe interesting, Crysis 3 was a closure to the story

    2. I agree but not completely, crysis 2 and 3 were pretty sh*t compared to the first and warhead.

Anyway i’m pretty confident it’ll be crysis 4

          1. i dont give a damn about this inferior language tbh. it seems you are underage and uneducated because you dont know krap about far cry or crysis series.

    1. I agree, the first half of the first, goes way downhill once the aliens appear. Just like the Predator franchise.

    2. “good”

yeah ok, id say it was bad even then, the ai and gunplay was horrible, levels were linear and too many bugs.

  2. I would like a remaster of a Crysis 1 with improve multi-threaded performance with better AI and VR support.

    1. Nope, Black Fire is only intended for testing different TOD settings on any map on the fly, if you want a Remaster level modding, you got to use the texture packs for trees, vegetation and terrain + a mod allowing the use of AF along with POM which is not possible in vanilla and finally tweak the NV Inspector profile to add SGSSAA and get a decent AA solution (the game crashes a lot in DSR) here’s a compilation for all the texture mods, works on Warhead too, for the AA use the second link and look for Crysis

      1. console peasants who switched to PC and now are the majority do. people with iq higher than 80, probably not.

  3. We dont need remaster of Crysis. Those games (Crysis 1/3) always look great. In case they dont for some reason, theres always mods. Remasters are more needed for games before 2006.

  4. how could you remaster a game that even today is hard to get ultra/60 Fps ?. the only good think is if this is a remaster we could play Crysis 3 at STEAM.
I hope is another game a Crysis 4 would be great

    1. How many times does it have to be said that the issue is the CPU? A completely modern remaster of the game using multi-core CPUs would actually allow you to get great frame rates depending on the GPU.

  5. This better be C4, am so tired of this remastered business strategy, milking the same cow once again, money making machine.

  6. I’d be happy if all they do is fix a few bugs (invincible enemies, enemy vehicles getting stuck trying to turn, helicopter AI seeing through cover) and multi-thread the game properly so we can get hundreds of fps on modern hardware.
If however they port the slowed down console version of the gameplay because they already have that version on CE3 (multi-threaded) that’s a fail, no interest.

  7. Any involvement from EA would actually make a sequel easier than a remaster. They paid for those games after all. If Crytek have the rights to the name it would be easier to make a new game than to re-release a product shared with EA.

    1. Could be fun in VR but after playing Boneworks and seeing HL:A, its really going to depend on how well and comprehensive its implemented.

      1. yeah. old games for me is Final fantasy 7 and Resident evil 2 those are worthwhile remakes. But we can see they can f*k up with those too (RE3)

  8. To everyone who thinks this doesn’t need a remake well go play this on your 9900K at 5.3Ghz and watch it drop below 60FPS and barely use your 2080Ti haha

  9. Why the hell would you remake it; it’s one of the last games that was graphically future-proofed before everyone started downgrading to maintain console parity

    1. Because that version of the game engine heavily uses one cpu core, making impossible achieving high framerates on modern multicore cpus. It makes sense to port the game in a later version of cryengine

  10. It’s really funny, though I believe this year’s April Fools joke won’t turn into a real thing. I can’t imagine Sony developing a PC GPU, lol

  11. Crysis need a remaster/remake
    Why?
First of all some textures did not age well.
It was designed around core 2 duo with high clock speed and 2-3 gb ram the game dont scale well on today hardware, sure it run a lot better nowadays on any mid range pc but still get some framerate drops due to how it was optimised.
AI is buggy sometimes the north koreans do stupid sh*t like stumbling into each other or just not reacting or reacting even if you are not in their field of view and the aliens need a complete make over in term of design and how to fight them.
Physics sure they are impressive even today but bugged how many time i see an object floating in mid air or getting killed by a small cabinet that fell on me because i nudged it.
Vehicles handling and physics need also an overhaul.

Those are my biggest gripes with the first crysis, but it still to this day one of my favorite single player fps of all time.
