Doom Eternal new-1

Doom Eternal looks absolutely gorgeous in these latest official screenshots

Bethesda has released a new set of beautiful screenshots for Doom Eternal. Doom Eternal uses id Tech 7, and these screenshots showcase the graphics that gamers will be able to enjoy in this latest first-person shooter.

These screenshots showcase some of the game’s environments and enemies. As we can see, the game retains the style of Doom 2016. The enemies also appear to be of a similar design, though they most likely have more polygons than before.

Doom Eternal puts you in control of the DOOM Slayer as you blow apart new and classic demons with powerful weapons in unbelievable and never-before-seen worlds. Players will experience the ultimate combination of speed and power as they rip and tear their way across dimensions with the next leap in push-forward, first-person combat.

The game promises to bring the ultimate combination of speed and power with the next leap in push-forward, first-person combat. The game promises to feature levels/places we have never seen before in a Doom game. Furthermore, id Software claims that Doom Eternal will have ten times higher geometric detail than its predecessor. Moreover, it will have greater texture fidelity than id Software has ever put on screen.

NVIDIA and Bethesda have also announced that this new Doom game will also support real-time ray tracing. However, these RTX effects won’t be available at launch. Let’s at least hope that it will not take id Software six months to implement these effects.

Doom Eternal releases on March 20th.

Enjoy!

  1. Why are all new FPS games so f’ning confined! Look at those screenshots. The original Doom had huge open rooms sometimes with loads of enemies. These tight, small rooms for fighting drive me up the wall in this type of game.

    1. thats not what people who played it say, they say the levels are large and nonlinear with tons of enemies attacking you at all times.

      1. Then I take it back, but definitely got that vibe from the last several shots. Hoping you are correct. Thanks for info.

      1. Most are fluff, inaccessible artwork for the level but you are correct some do have larger open areas. The several at the end seemed to be more confined.

  2. Crunch since last year, denuvo, forced bethesdanet DRM, 2 years of post launch content, grinding for skins in multiplayer, cut campaign DLC, exclusive twitch prime content and more to come.

Looking at some gameplay footage that was published today, players will be spending a lot of time climbing walls like in Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order so the angry gamers purchasing their games based off hours required to finish can get their boners.

This is the Bethesda we love.

    1. To be fair Denuvo hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Honestly the game will only appeal to me if they have a big open map like the first two maps and if there’s an option ro remove hitmarkers that have no place in a singleplayer game, all the other gimmicks are do nothing for me.

I see teasing of giant robots though, wonder if there will be a pilotable one in the game.

    2. You sad sacks love to talk sh*t about games that aren’t out yet. Just wait for it to come out and have fun or don’t buy it.

    1. It’s tragic that he’s still so extremely butthurt all these months later after John declined his offer to be a writer for DSOG. Embarrassing!

  3. GGmnalives and russianbadgers have gameplay. GGmanlives said that its above and beyond other fps and they gonna have to work harder to compete with this game, its much bigger than the last game but also more gamey, its filled with quake 3 pickup models, it gets rid of the reallistic visual style of the first game, it look more cartoony now and its filled with platforming which unlike the previous game doesnt make any sense, its like you playing metroidvania and the game is filled with platforming traps and backtracking it even has a hub level with upgrades in it. But the strafe speed has been nerfed you move slow while strafing, you must use dodge boost like third person action adventure games or something. Also its more story focused now it has more cutscenes and story.

    1. Saw the video of GManLives, looks very promising however the story focus is really useless, even the 15mn story focus moments of Doom 2016 were annoying AF, just let me shoot thing lol, also i don’t know what to think about the nerfed strafe speed, wait and see, overall, i think it gonna be the best shooter for the entire next decade

    2. They were sent out to an event for free, of course they’ll say positive and overly biased things about the game. Remain calm until you get to play it yourself.

      1. come on. I mean you could make the argument that he liked anthem but that was the preview, then he said the full game was nothing like the demo he played.

      1. “There is no continuity in the game”

dude the footage is cut up, they dont let them show all of it, only specific parts.

“. The platforming / arcadeyness will add breaks”

The 2016 game had platforming and arcade elements

“the HUB is going to be a central location like Mass Effect to select missions, WTF this is not ME, and ME is an entirely different game with RPG elements.”

Quake had a hub, 2016 had rpg elements

Ddue the game is harder than the last one, wtf you want? They even delayed it to fix the hud and make the ai more capable with countering yout attacks so you cant use one tactic and complete the whole game.

“I’ll play Halo MCC more immersive”

Halo sucks. Shame on you for playing that slow paced 2 weapons limit health regen game over this.

        1. Dude do you think I dont know footage us cut up ?

“Quake had a HUB” when this is a Quake BS game ? 2016 had normal number of powerups. This game is not it has tons of it and grind fest galore. Even looking at Rune customization makes me puke. Bethesda gear has Rune Hoodie it was an art and only a few scaling options in 2016 this one is taking it too far like Rage2.

Game is harder simply because its not reflex based game anymore its Ammo driven and too much exposition.

Stop justifying bs decisions like Mario Firetraps level arcadeyness even gmanlives said literally same thing.

Delayed to fix HUD ? wtf from where you are claiming this eh. They delayed because game was not finished. HUD color opacity changes =! HUD art direction. They specifically boosted the game pickups and feedback because noobs whined. It was said by Hugo himself. Look at the pickups and tutorial tooltips bs.

Halo sucks ? Yeah cool. Whatever floats your boat. The Halo CE, Bungie Trilogy are masterpieces in gaming from experience to Immersion. Every game is unique and offer their style. If you do not like rhe style no need to feel ashamed LOL. But it doesn’t make me feel Im.playing a Super Mario with power fantasy. Halo 5 had same platforming bs and many hated it. That means you do not have to blast the game with exposition and overarching RPG RTD elements to make it something its not for a strictly linearFPS game.

And go to Steam page it is showing Bethesda Accnt mandatory. Plus Empowered demons are those which killed other campaign players. If that is an Always OL requirement then you can parade day and night defending this like those reddit kids. Oh also game is still not having any announced mod support. On top it has potential MTX because of booster packs, just wait it’ll have same MTX for skins and etc like Periodblood.

        2. dude that wasnt the rune customization that was the armor customization there are only 9 runes. How its not reflex based when it has dodge button and you can destroy specific body parts. Freeflow platforming with traps is where the skill is at. From a gameplay standpoint they are good. The hud is fixed its smaller than last time and seethrough, you can change the color of the hud like the first deus ex game. The game is hard watch some gameplay footage mk ice and fire put up

“The Halo CE, Bungie Trilogy are masterpieces in gaming from experience to Immersion.”

Halo 1 runs out of stuff half way through and makes you replay the levels backwards but with endless respawning zombies, halo 2 has bulletspongy enemies and ends with a cliffhanger, halo 3 was very dated felt like playing a xbox game with graphics mods.

        1. I’m okay with there being some platforming but the tedious backtracking of so-called Metroidvania games, often used by lazy devs as a cheap way to pad out game length, is usually a deal-breaker for me.

          1. you have a ship, you go to different maps with portals, if you miss something you can go back. There are these keys that unlock stuff in your ship and they are well hidden.

          2. Ah, that doesn’t sound too bad. Mildly repetitive without crossing over into outright tedium and dreary busywork.

      1. It sucks but looking at gameplay I don’t think it will matter in the bigger picture. Game looks incredibly fun and packed to the brim with stuff to do.

    3. Because platforming in a FPS always works out so amazingly well just like those 2 Mirror’s Edge games that tanked….Doom Eternal is starting to look less like Doom and more like generic space shooter with gross first person platforming which factually and literally never works out well when you can’t see feet

    4. Would have been perfect if they struck a balance closer to the first game.

Once you make everything gamey and arcadey looking, and get rid of the immersion, there’s nothing special about it anymore. Doom 2016 struck such a perfect balance, and that’s part of what made it feel so cool. Big bright weapon pickups are… disappointing.

That said, I doubt it will be a big issue because the game looks incredibly engaging anyway. I don’t think we’ll have too much time to worry about this tbh.

      1. “there’s nothing special about it anymore” i dissagree with that but you are right the previous game struck the right balance this is too gamey but it has more cinematic story.

        1. What I meant is the ‘gamey’ elements are not that special anymore. That stand out more in an immersive context

Doom Eternal is still special. It’s easily the most exciting game in the near future.

    1. Yep, I stand corrected. In motion it doesn’t look that good. Watched this clip (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BUQ9-yi2I8). Sensory overload is an apt term that would fit it very well – starting from godawful acid UI, confetti of multi-colored pickups from enemies, glory kills that still make you invincible (*) to the slowed down speed of the battle itself. Besides they didn’t even change the arena style fo the gameplay – where they lock you up until you clear the arena. I guess level design and carefully crafted and thought out enemy placement is a lost art.

*just look at 12:11 of that video – player has got 1 hp and while we’re watching a neat animation giving you all the power fantasy you’ve ever dreamed of meanwhile stripping away the control from the player there is a huge projectile that hits bullseye but no biggie, we glory-killed that demon so we’re fine and that projectile doesn’t count, wtf.

Barebones Hellbound demo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Du0Ii20EyBE) is miles closer to the old school FPS.

  4. I’m a simple wolf, good lore or GTFO!
Those days of just running around and shooting are way back in the past for me.
