Gamedec is a brand new story-driven, cyberpunk-themed, adaptive RPG, coming to PC in 2020

Anshar Studios has announced a new new story-driven, cyberpunk-themed, adaptive RPG, called Gamedec. According to the press release, Gamedec is based around a private detective who solves crimes committed in virtual game worlds.

In Gamedec, decisions are important, and the game world constantly adapts to them and to the hero. According to the developers, your decisions will change the protagonist as the story progresses. The consequences of choices made, like in “real” life, can be immediate, long-term, or hidden – the latter most often surfacing at unexpected moments. Regardless of the decisions made, however, the game always remains neutral towards them. It’s up to the player to evaluate them, bearing in mind the saying “you are the sum of your choices.”

The studio’s new game returns to the foundations of the RPG genre by adding Deduction, Codex, and Aspects mechanics to allow for complex discussions, Players will create or expose networks of intrigues and conspiracies, while discovering unusual relationships between virtual worlds. Gamedec’s paper-based RPG mechanics will also give players the freedom to approach things from multiple perspective.

Anshar Studios has also released the first screenshots and an in-game trailer that you can find below.

Enjoy!

  1. News: Cyberpunk 2077 bring alot of attention from gamers.
Indie Dev 1:Hey,how about we make Cyberpunk theme games and hope it will sell well…
Indie Dev 2-99:do the same think like indie Dev 1

    1. Did you know that Gamedec is a series of books and the first one was released in 2004? That’s where we got the idea for this game 😉 Oh, and did I mention, that the author works very closely with the studio? 🙂

      1. I don’t know about that. But my point’ still stand. Why suddenly so many Cyberpunk theme game came out after big hype of cdpr Cyberpunk 2077. Its not wrong if people think these Dev (not just you) taking a momentum from it. Maybe you work this game far before Cyberpunk 2077 announcement and waiting the right time to released it,and time when you released it coincidence with that game. But anyway,im looking forward to this game,i hope its good and people like it. And you got what you deserve, a good amount of sales 🙂

        1. Right now we’re positively overwhelmed by the tremendous amount of feedback from all over the world. We’re doing our best to deliver a story-rich game in a world we love 🙂 But we’re taking notes and transfer them to our devs 🙂

  2. Looks alright, but I’d really like to see more gameplay to make a decision on if I’m going to purchase it or not. Really hoping it’s not another turn based style game. Making decisions is fine, but if it involves turn based combat, I’m out.

  3. Looks very interesting. About time we got more RPGs in a cyberpunk setting where choices actually matter, the game does not push you towards a certain playstyle and punishes you when you choose another (looking at you Deus Ex HR & MD). 2020 can’t come soon enough. All the best to the devs!

  4. I finished a few days ago Observer. Maybe not the best gameplay ever (you walk, talk to people, investigate crime scenes with a couple of scans and solve clues) but that game put me in a cyberpunk world like no other up to this day. I mean the way it all looked, the decay, how people behave -narrative was on point-, the overall background behind everything.

I liked Deus Ex: Human Revolution and even Mankind Divided with its flaws, both made great worlds but never felt as “organic” as one can expect perhaps, but in Observer that was incredible since the very first thing you see and yet it all was so “simple” at the same time.

Another game that also had a better representation of a Cyberpunk world was Remember Me, I replayed that game at least twice because of how the world looked more than anything. And gameplay was cool as well (similar to Batman Arkham games but with customised combos), a little repetitive but cool.

Also Satellite Reign is a very cool game to play with that theme too. A bit RPG and RTS at the same time, hacking, class management, open world (isometric view) etc.

Sure options to try are Observer (impressed me a lot to be honest, cool story, awesome visuals and atmosphere, some horror elements but not that much), and also Remember Me if you want to immerse yourselves in some Cyberpunk worlds while you wait for Cyberpunk 2077.

PS: I still remember Syndicate as well but never bought that game and can’t remember why to be honest. Maybe bad reviews or whatever, but that game looked cool at that time as well. But of course…EA, maybe it was that.

Name others if you know some too. 😉
