Psyonix will remove the annoying loot boxes from Rocket League later this year

Psyonix has just announced that it will remove the loot boxes from Rocket League. According to the team, Rocket Pass Premium, DLC Cars, and Esports Shop items will continue to be offered for direct purchase alongside its new system.

As Psyonix noted, it will remove all paid, randomized Crates from Rocket League later this year. The team will replace them with a system that shows the exact items you’re buying in advance. In short, no loot boxes anymore.

Psyonix claims that this will be similar to changes implemented earlier this year by the Fortnite Save the World team.

The team promises to reveal more details at a later date. Still, we are pretty sure that a lot of Rocket League players will appreciate the team’s effort to remove the annoying loot boxes.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. Of course it’s not effective immediately because they want you to gamble more just because the items will cost 5 times as much compared to a single lootbox… how about completely removing the microtransactions Psyonix?

    1. Yeah right?
Remove that sh*t now, later one add that new “user friendly” system.
Well it’s all about the money.

  2. Yet they;’ll toss in a pass, which Epic and other pubs are currently rolling with, in regards to their esport games

not exactly fond of that, because I find it unnecessary and stupid to begin with. Allow players to unlock skins/content via natural progression, cheevos and skill points earned, rather than paying MT style cash (which this more less will become.

  3. So no more trading as well? Just pay for items with real money? I only bought 10 keys once for Rocket Pass 1 and becasue of trading I got them back for RP2 and later RP3 again and I got of tons of cool items. If I had to buy all the items, I’d had to spend $200.

Those who waste keys on opening crates – let them. Smarter people just trade for exact items they want afterwards.

    S**t news and F**k Epic.

They didn’t do this out of the goodness of their hearts, and don’t deserve a single iota of appreciation for this. This shouldn’t have been a thing in the first place.

Also, I’m sure the adjusted prices replacing this system, will be equally grotesque. Stupid people will continue to support this turd though, along with every other.

    1. It’s another calculated move on who’s willing to spend what. They want the “I want it now and all of it” crowd, but also hoping to nab regular players as well.

I call it predatory because they are banking on desperate folk wanting it, as well as now. I’d rather they allow it for free, but via natural player progression (how we did it in the old days)

  5. “Still, we are pretty sure that a lot of Rocket League players will
appreciate the team’s effort to remove the annoying loot boxes.”how about betraying the whole community on steam ?
