Star Wars The Force Unleashed feature

Here are Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2, Crysis 2, RAGE & Resident Evil 2 Remake with Ray Tracing

YouTube’s members ‘Digital Dreams’ and ‘Jose cangrejo’ have shared some videos, showcasing Pascal Gilcher’s Reshade mod – which adds Ray Tracing/Path Tracing effects – in some really old games such as Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2, Crysis 2, RAGE and Resident Evil 6.

Now I know that some of you don’t like this type of stories, however I find it fascinating witnessing all these old games with better lighting effects. Once it becomes available to the public, this Reshade mod will be must-have for everyone that wants to replay older titles.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 in particular looks absolutely stunning with this Reshade Ray Tracing mod. Digital Dreams has found numerous places to showcase the new ray tracing/path tracing effects that are being introduced with Gilcher’s Reshade mod. You can find gorgeous reflections, lights bouncing on different surfaces, as well as better ambient occlusion effects.

Crysis 2 slightly benefits from this Reshade mod and the visual improvement is nowhere near to what we’re witnessing in Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2. You can notice some light bouncing but overall Crytek has done a terrific job with the game’s lighting system.

On the other hand, RAGE sees a better visual improvement than what we’re seeing in Crysis 2. Thanks to the Reshade ray tracing effects, RAGE does not feel flat and blank when the player is exploring the game’s interior environments.

YouTube’s ‘Benchmark PC Tech’ has also shared a video, showing Resident Evil 2 Remake with these ray tracing effects. Resident Evil 2 Remake is a brand new title, however it’s really cool witnessing such a modern-day game with this Reshade mod. Unfortunately, Benchmark PC Tech did not compare any of the rainy areas in order to showcase the better reflections that are being introduced with this Reshade. Still, some may find this video interesting.

Last but not least, Resident Evil 6 appears to be way darker than its vanilla version. We can clearly see the additional shadows and the light bounce on numerous surfaces, however its dark-ish look is not that appealing to me eyes.

As a bonus, here is video from ‘EiermannTelevision’ showing Dead Rising with Ray Tracing effects.

Enjoy!

    1. It’s the same as with the AI-Enhanced mod packs and the 4k can or can’t do, i like this site too but i don’t even read the title of these types of articles anymore, as soon as i see 4k or AI or RayTracing i’m already skiping it.

      1. Hey, I love the articles here giving a heads-up on new AI-Enhanced texture packs for old GameCube and Dreamcast games!

    2. i disagree the fact he shows us what it looks in different games, gets us to decide if there is a point to it or not, the fact it affects old games i interesting to say the least.

    1. r u blind sir??it does what it has to do it adds ray tracing to old games.look at star wars man its muchh better than original

  2. damn that rage rtx is a weird thing, how do you do ray tracing in a game with no dynamic lighting… or shadows. There is a part 3 in wellspring and it looks so deserty, every object is painted orange by the light, kinda looks like rage 2.

  3. Why everyone is complaining like that ? Just scroll if you’re not interested
PS : Take the time to look at SWTFU video, it’s really impressive for a shader
