Here is the first in-engine teaser trailer and first official screenshots for System Shock 3

OtherSide Entertainment has released the first teaser trailer for System Shock 3. This trailer features in-engine pre-alpha footage, meaning that it does not represent the final version which may look different from what is being shown here.

Yesterday, OtherSide Entertainment announced that the game is halfway completed so things are looking great for this highly anticipated title.

Unfortunately, the team did not reveal any additional details so I believe it’s safe to say that we are looking at a 2020 title at best here. Still, it would be great if we had some information about the game’s setting and story.

But anyway, enjoy the trailer!

  1. So System Shock 3 is using Unity Engine? Sad that System Shock remake switched to Unreal instead of Unity which its’ first demo showcased.

    1. I’m with you on that!
I use Linux more than Windows…always have a distro dual-booted with Windows 7! (currently using Manjaro Xfce)

      1. I’m on Manjaro Mate myself. Liking it but experimenting with some rolling debian distros such as Sparky Linux and Siduction. I like debian better for certain things. I already wiped Windows from all my hard drives years ago.

  2. Kinda cool, the game seems to have the proper System Shock feel to it.
Am I the only one thinking that SHODAN’s animation looks too cartoonish, though? And by the way, I always thought her voice modulation was more awkward/clumsy than scary/creepy. As if she was struggling to utter the words all the time. 😀
I’d personally like this to change but hey, that’s the legacy.

        1. Sorry that my opinion is different than yours …
Just be a normal person and stop insulting ppl just Because they said someting else……

    1. Have you even played Dead Space and System Shock?

It’s literally the same story. Down to the aliens, with minor changed details. Of course it’s going to look similar, it’s supposed to. Dead Space wouldn’t ever have existed without SS1 and 2.

      1. because games should look like washed out, lifeless plastic these days otherwise peasant station and peasant box won’t be able to run it. a tiny bit of quality in lighting and reflection means downgrade.

  3. Ill wait till i see some gameplay to comment on weather it looks good or not. In this day and age I am not holding my breath for anything more than a console shooter.

  4. Chillz down my spine…sooo hyped!
I remember watching an interview with Warren Spector where he was asked what is unique in this third game in the SS series, and he said there’s atleast 1 mechanic that no one has ever seen before in a video game. Coming from him, expectation are sky high!

  5. Yeah, I’m not feeling it
Development seems rushed, the art design looks very generic, the pre aked Unity engine certainly doesn’t do it any favours and Othersides last game was a mediocre unfinished mess

This doesn’t look like System Shock or a labour of love, the Remake looks much better than this.

    1. He didn’t. Google it. Quit crying about UA when it’s literally not the same people as SS1 remake or SS3.

  6. “IN ENGINE” the scary infamous word that dev always get away with when the final build is greatly downgraded

  7. So disappointed about it being on Unity. Looks alright but seems to have the typical Unity jankiness.

  8. Hold on there kemosabe.

They lost almost a year of development time on SS1 remake when they switched from Unity Engine to Unreal Engine.

So, why is SS3 using Unity still? I’m going to hope that the “50% done” cliam means there’s no going back and switching engines. But I really wish it wasn’t Unity. There isn’t one single 3D game in Unity that actually runs well, looks good, doesn’t feel janky, and takes advantage of all the oft-advertised advanced features of Unity.

    Not one.
