Shadow of the Tomb Raider will get DLSS support alongside the real-time ray tracing effects

Back in August 2018, NVIDIA and Nixxes Software showcased the real-time ray tracing effects for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Unfortunately, though, those RTX effects had a huge impact, resulting in really underwhelming performance and while the game has been released, there is no word yet on when these effects will be available to players.

Still, the good news here is that NVIDIA and Nixxes have not abandoned their RTX plans and they are still working hard to put the final touches on it. Not only that, but the game will receive official DLSS support alongside the real-time ray tracing effects.

Nixxes will be using real-time ray tracing effects in order to improve the game’s shadows. Similarly to Battlefield 5 and 3DMark Port Royal, Nixxes will also use DLSS in order to improve overall performance and allow higher framerates when using these ray traced shadows (we assume that players will also be able to use DLSS without the RTX effects).

There is no ETA on when the RTX patch for Shadow of the Tomb Raider will come out however we’ll be sure to keep you posted!

    1. GPU maker need to create new method of doing multi GPU instead of using the usual AFR (or SFR) if they want to keep multi gpu tech alive.

  1. Excellent news, I just bought it on Steam sale and was wanting to hold off on playing it until the RT patch is in since I have a brand spanking new 2080 Ti.

The CEO said the same thing when they first announced the RTX lineup, that was 5 months ago.

  3. Ah, yes, this being the SJW love-fest of a game whereby the very first thing you’re presented with upon starting the game is a message informing us, as though we should care, that…

“Shadow of the Tomb Raider was created by a diverse and talented team comprising of multiple genders, backgrounds, ethnicities, religious beliefs, and personalities…” ?

    On a delightfully encouraging note,

    – sales numbers are reportedly abysmal relative to the two previous games
    – it was review bombed on Steam (something that triggers the anti-consumer soyboy journalists activists over at PC Gamer) after they desperately slashed its price by 34% in a sale a mere one month following release
    – they’ve now slashed the price by a whopping 50% in the current Steam sale

So let’s see if ray traced ‘social justice’ and DLSS wokeness saves the day! #getwokegobroke

    1. “and personalities”

I don’t believe that for a second, that disclaimer might as well read:

“This game was created by an extremely homogeneous team of arrogant SJW bigots of multiple neon hair colors and goony beards.”

The people who write those BS disclaimers might as well be clones of one another taken straight out of tumblr, they all have the same opinions and attitudes on everything, because their conformity is zealously enforced.

      1. Indeed. That reminds me of a line by the late, great, Bill Hicks:
“You are free to do as we tell you.”

You’re perfectly describing what’s now commonly referred to as NPCs

      2. It’s almost makes you wish for a nuclear war doesn’t it? just to shake some perspective into these liberal c*nts.

    2. Yeah i was very dissapointed at that , but the thing that bothered me the most was how cringeworthy they made the character of Lara , they took a lot of things from Batman Arkham trying to make her like a strong female Batman and it was just terrible…it was so cringey i had to quit the game , worst 800 pesos i ever spent.

      1. Funny how they make Lara look so ‘right on’ and intelligent, while Nathan Drake (and similar) are played out like semi-bumbling-idiots (because.. white male trash or something).

I don’t know how these pr*cks rose to influence but I can’t wait until their d*cks drop off and they stop breeding.

    3. What genders, ethnicities, religious beliefs their employees are none of their business anyway so i don’t know why they brag about it.

      1. Presumably because doing so plays well with the soyboy-infested legacy media gaming sites (SJW cancer such as Polygon, Eurogamer, Kotaku and PC Gamer) thus ensuring favourable and repeated generous coverage.

Reassuringly, gamers en masse are evidently smart enough to,

        – largely ignore and often also laugh at the politicised exhortations of an increasingly discredited, irrelevant, desperate and ‘toxic’ games media
        – most importantly of all, vote with their wallets by spending their money on games that don’t preach or promote weird SJW nonsense and revisionist history

    4. You mean that sentence that a ton of games have ? The first Assassin’s Creed had that kind of statement.

It’s a woke game because of that statement is it ?

You people really like to reach at times.

  4. Still one in a long list of games that will “get RTX” at some indeterminate point in the future, and by the time it does (*if* it does — sales were bad and most people moved on) it will be forgotten

    1. It’s already half price. Possibly on the Steam Summer Sale it will be $15 maybe even $10. Square Enix will probably blame pirates for the lack of sales.

      1. It dropped to half price a month after release if I remember correctly. I have no idea if it was as big of a disaster as Angel of Darkness though, and yes, Squeenix will likely blame pirates or just quietly kill the franchize like they did to Deus Ex

    2. My “get it” point is when Feral releases the Linux port they announced. I liked the first two, but I’m on Linux now so I’d like to give the money to a company that supports my OS.
