While Electronic Arts and DICE delayed the release of Battlefield 5 by a month, it appears that the game will be lacking a lot of content when it comes out. Now I don’t want to say that the content will be similar to what was featured in Battlefront 2, however things are not looking ideal for DICE’s upcoming shooter.
For starters, the single-player mode will feature 4 war stories (another one will be added after the game’s launch). In contrary, Battlefield 1 shipped with 6 war stories and Battlefront 2 featured a proper single-player campaign. In Battlefield 1, war stories told some mini stories about WW1 and while they were cool, they never really felt like a proper single-player campaign (like the traditional one found in Battlefront 2).
Electronic Arts has also confirmed that there will be 8 multiplayer maps at launch, meaning that we’re two maps down from Battlefield 1 (which featured 10 maps) and three maps down from Battlefront 2 (which featured 11 maps).
It’s not all bad though as the game’s ultimate multiplayer experience, Grand Operations, will be playable at launch and Battlefield 5 will also feature Conquest, Team Deathmatch and Domination. However, its battle royale mode, Firestorm, will also not be available at launch. Not only that, but Black Ops 4 will be out in the wild for over a month with its own battle royale mode.
So basically, we are looking at four multiplayer modes. For comparison purposes, Battlefront 2 shipped with six multiplayer modes.
The good news here is that Battlefield 5 will improve overtime with new free DLC. DICE claimed that all post-launch DLC will be completely free. EA will not implement any loot boxes, so that’s another great thing about this new Battlefield game. Furthermore, both Tides of War and Firestorm sound interesting, however we don’t know when they will be out.
However, Battlefield 5 feels like the definition of a game-as-a-service product instead of a proper full fledged/packaged title. It will get better – and its content will be free – but at release the game will be lacking major features and modes. And that may backfire on DICE and EA!

Don’t forget to say that the maps are so small you can be sniped as you spawn and the plane just goes in circles.
Edit: I mean, the maps are not small by COD standards, but by Battlefield’s…. it is absurdly small.
That is because idiots judge a game by other game’s standards. COD players always said that Battlefield maps were too empty….well, they won’t say that now.
I don’t care about the sparsity per se, I do care about buying a game expecting one thing and getting another.
And it is not complaining, I don’t care. Not my game, not for me. It was a criticism. Always take those with a grain of salt and expect bias. Move along, little triggered friend.
How are you supposed to judge a game’s standards by not comparing some to others? What standard would it be measured against? That makes no sense.
That would be like saying
Well Ride to Hell is a terrible game but if I don’t compare it to any other game, it’s the best game ever made
Of course people are gonna compare to others. If not for just quality, maybe because 60 bucks is still a lot of money. You want the best out of it so you have to compare what you think is best.
By comparing to the expectations of its predecessors. A Battlefield game should have elements that make it resemble previous Battlefield games, no? It is not mandatory and sometimes subversion of expectations can be good if done well.
How does this need commentary? Is this strange? To expect aspects of previous Battlefield games in a Battlefield game is strange and should be measured with COD somehow?
It is a bad game in its own rights made worst by lacking elements that embellished previous iterations of the franchise.
Sure but then what about new games? Even in series I think it’s fair to do so.
Not defending Battlefield V, it’s never been my series but to say we shouldn’t compare one game’s standards to another is something I don’t agree with.
I never said you can’t compare games to each other. I said that those stupid amongst the people who complain, may do so because of those comparisons. Not that the comparison is unwanted or even wrong, just that expecting Battlefield to COD or vice-versa was done stupidly….well, until now 🙂 😀
Compare whatever you want to whatever you want. None of it is wrong. It is something different to each person.
Ah my bad then. I misunderstood.
Lame. I guess ill check it in 2 years when its 15$ and full of content.. new games are dead because of scum like EA.
I wish most people would do that. EA would get the message fast and hard that we want a decent game on release. Not half a game and probably buggy as hell on top of that.
But too many times I have seen people ranting about BF games in the forums and they felt like they were cheated and then turn around and buy the next BF game on release.
They have “battered wamanz syndrome”
it baffles me, even a dog who will take all kinds of BS from it’s owner eventually snaps and runs away at minimum, maybe even attacks the owner.
It is like all these guys had their balls replaced at birth with a plastic set for “looks” but domesticated for their master’s sake.
Man up b!tches.
Yeah, on top of that.. they make huge sales. Look at BF4 and 1. Got both for dirt cheap, and both of them are solid/patched and full of content. Cant go wrong with waiting.
Don’t you worry, our dear friend EA would have shut down the multiplier server by that time so you can pre-order BF6
Haha, I’m scared of that actually
“However, its battle royale mode, Firestorm, will also not be available at launch.”
One month delay and still no Battle Royale at launch…… Genius.
I wonder if cod will have « functionnal » at launch. Cod never had a map with long sight lines i wonder if it’ll be well optimized.
That’s Filthy Pirate Loser Zatara “SIR”.. To you Loser
Well good. At least he has something to contribute about PC games. That is what everyone else besides you comes here for.
Awwwwwww, someone’s missed me!
Oh, it’s you. I’m surprised you’re still here, what’s wrong, you haven’t succeeded in masturbating yourself into permanent blindness yet?
I missed you more
Just out of curiosity, what is he talking about?
I checked your comments and you seem rather pro consumer, pro free speech and anti corporation (nice btw)
They will be available at launch.
True. On the other hand, they never advertised it so.
I’m okay with it being an option. I don’t care much for BR, a bit burnt out on them. But it sounds like it took up way too much of their development time and they’re still limited to 64 players. Meh.
The game is a POS. Animations are slow, stiff and broken as fk, maps too small, they removed spotting and now everyone wants to be a sniper and camp in a bush, there’s barely any aerial action since the planes are worthless compared to BF1 where skilled plane players could actually win battles by their own, the tanks controls suck for the sake of “authenticity”.
Yet we have soldiers with weird looking hair and uniforms that makes you think you are playing PUBG instead of a authentic WW2 game.
I will keep having fun in BF1 until BF5 gets sold for $10. EA wonders why even a crap game like BO4 is outselling BF5.
i still have fun in the beta, but yea there is still a lot of work to be done.
buy this game one year later at discount when it will be full of content
Titanfall.
Remember guys!
They said no DLC!
dummy they say no DLC then cut form the main game and give those cutted pieces away very slowly (just like overwatch) as “free dlc” then add microtransaction cosmetic and everyone defending that sh*T!! like what was the point of this? other than getting lied to that you’re getting “free” sh*t

Ive already seen that
what do u mean?
it’s not just battlefield, it’s Origin too

(((EA))) has gone full 1984
Yeeeeeez EA went full SJW
any doubt left?
When being progressive makes you recessive.
“Defend.”
So, we’re not supposed to defend Objectives any more?
Well, nuts.
Are the microtransactions cosmetic only?
It won’t backfire. It’ll get panned but enough people will buy it at launch to ensure they do it all again next year.
BF4:
SP Campaign, 10x Maps, 5×4 S.Pass and 3x C.Operations = 33 Maps in total.
BF1:
SP Stories, 10x Maps, S.Pass inculded 6, 6, 4 & 5 maps = 31 Maps in Total
If it will be similar to what we get until now, i will be happy 😀
And now we can all play the same maps
(I have S.Pass for BF3/4/1 and most of the time i’ve played Base Game maps ~70% lol)
PS. Also starting at Sept. 11 the will Give S.Pass for free to all BF1 Players 😀
Enjoy your 3 vs 2 matches because nobody bought it 😛

Yeah, content reduction is a long-standing trend in major AAA titles.
Oh, wow. They added guns!
Well, damn, if only I knew that earlier!
I mean, guns!
What about some actual content, like new maps or game modes? Did they add in any of those, or did they stick to the cheaper stuff?
But really, compare the launch content of BF2 and the post-launch content of BF2 to BF4 or BF1 or whatever. The industry has steadily been reducing the amount of quantity it invests into an FPS for a very long time, now.
Fair enough, I should’ve gone with quality, rather than quantity. After all, Battlefield 4 had plenty of maps, but how many of them were actually playable? In fact, on that front, how many BF1 maps were actually playable? Now compare that to the number of actually great BF2 maps, since ultimately, that’s all that really matters, no?
As for the case of weapons, I’ll repeat it, since you don’t seem to understand; extra weapons are a joke. They cost near-nothing to make and they’re usually just marketing gimmicks, like “oh hey look, we added a crossbow! LOOKIE LOOKIE, IT’S SO COOL!” Or even worse, they’re overpowered jokes specifically designed to give lazy scrubs a crutch to lean on.
Ironic, considering the developers themselves began to pander to lone wolf-type players, thus destroying the historic mandatory teamplay portion of Battlefield in the process.
going from Alpha to beta I will say this.
Gameplay, TTK so much better over many previous BF games.
Squad spawn, spawning in general, everybody can revive. Very nice.
What is garbage… The spot system… The weapon upgrade system… The way ammo – heath is dispensed in the game. Also all the censored words for chat is shameful.
to me the movement seems way off, very floalty, and its like every action seems to be a canned animation that takes control away from you. Nothing like BF3/BF4, i dont like it.
I don’t like it. I could care less about points for spotting..
BF series is not a hardcore series.. you can just add half@$$ elements in a game and keep everything else ultra casual..
Colour me surprised I see BF5 with a severe lack of players for months fair trade of right ?
Well everybody I have chatted with via in game voice chat all agreed that 1 month is not enough time to fix things…
Still Trash
Concentrating too much on making sure the characters are SJW centric.
you can’t type DLC in the chat box… you can’t even type suck lol it’s more censored than this forum…
Why can’t you type DLC? Is that some kind of way to keep people from complaining about having to wait for the other half of the game?
And at least in this case, it’s Google’s fault, not the owner’s.
Soycial Justice Wussies
Pretty slick EA. You get to charge full price for about half a game and if the customer is even still playing BF 5 when the final part of the game is released then they finally get to play the full game.
HALF A$$ game at release +
MICROTRANSACTION +
Promise of “free” DLC in the future (which is usually 1/10 of the last games paid DLCs)=
PROFIT
& praise by brain dead people that cant do basic math that they are actually paying for the full game but only getting half of the at launch
“Why do people trust EA?”
I think you’ve just discovered the 8th Wonder of the World. The answer to this question, eludes everyone.
the upgrade tree system is generic as F***!
“It’s really stupid too. The attachments no longer affect the weapons, only the new perks do. All attachments do is change the look of the gun, the new gun perks have no downsides either so everything is so shallow.”
What in the f*ck. Why. No, seriously, why.
Because how changing the colour of the gun works is the problem here.
No they’re not. They were easy to understand. Your guns not very accurate? Add a different scope, but that scope may reduce range. Too much recoil? Add a grip. But grips reduce accuracy. It added depth to the customisation and allowed for each weapon to feel differently.
BFV doesn’t have this. You have attachments, sure, but they don’t do anything except change the aesthetic of the gun. Only the scope changes anything. If you want to change the way the gun handles you now buy weapon perks for each gun. And the perks have no downside so there’s no balancing for the gun. Only improving it.
What was once a deep and meaningful way to customise your weapon has been replaced with a shallow cosmetic system that does almost nothing. And why buy them with bloody credits instead of earning them? I know why, so EA can sell you the credits for extra cash. One of the camos cost 910 credits. After 3 hours of playing I had a little over 2,000 credits. I’m all for removing the premium system, but not for this crap. Not at a detriment of the game and the customisation.
If Titanfall 2 can do it so can BFV. To be honest, this game feels very similar to BF2. Just with a Battlefield skin.
Excellent news. The Battlefield V fail train rumbles on…

Too funny! That smoke is almost as toxic as Patrick Söderlund, lol.
No comment EA https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/47526e7eb7499e34b15486811a561ae0a47ef8377a48bb942c0a9283648e5bd8.png
The absolute state of DICE.
Considering how DICE supports their Battlefield games, this news don’t worry me whasoever.
Battlefield 4 is still getting updates even today, and up until last year was still getting content.
Content that should’ve been there from the start. Don’t fall for the ‘it’s FREE DLC!’ It’s not, it’s extracted game content, given to you in drip feed form so that you think they’re doing you a favour.
I simply have more to worry about than follow an immature mob.
Fact is, no other developers support their games for so long, and Battlefield has way more content and support than most Online Multi-Player FPS games.
Funny,BF Hard Line isn’t being taken care of.
Follow that carrot donkey.
Fun fact, Hardline wasn’t made by DICE.
Also take your dumb insults where they work /blocked
You are the reason this happens to us, what an idiot.
Thankfully nothing happened to me, quite honestly the only trash Publisher in my world is Ubisoft.
And as the kid you are, fake account to keep resorting to insults, blocked again.
“I don’t like you so I’m going to block you”
He shouldn’t insult because it doesn’t help an argument, but seriously. How much more does EA need to do before you open your eyes? They destroy every franchise they touch. I’m sure it sucks for DICE but they are in the same camp. You can only turn a blind eye for so long. I mean, they are making the game. Don’t they have ANY say in anything?
I’ve seen nothing destroyed, in fact EA games is what I play mostly nowadays, especially since they have the best game engine in the market.
Liked Mass Effect: Andromeda a lot, despite it’s flaws, Need for Speed still playing it online with friends, own all the Battlefield Games (with Premium Subscription), Dragon Age: Inquisition was as fun as Mass Effect: Andromeda and so on.
I believe I pretty much own all of EA IPs on Origin, and I have no regrets.
Ignoring all that, most of the people who complain, are complaining about the past and not the present, EA has changed a lot and is always ahead when it comes to getting rid of DLCs and Micro-Transactions.
Valve that is company everyone defends, that are the bad guys on my book, they were the first to implement Micro-Transactions in paid game, they currently have paid mods, they may start charging just to get Online on Steam someday.
I rather make my own opinions rather than follow a childish mob with a grudge.
Also I have the right to block whoever I want, I see no point in wasting my time arguing with kids, specially online. The moment they resort to petty insults and fail to present valid arguments, they wasting my time and should be blocked.
poor baby lol
“and Battlefield has way more content and support than most Online Multi-Player FPS games.”
I present to you Battlefield Hardline
Busted by your own words
Follow that Carrot Donkey!!!
They’re not helping themselves very much. When it got announced with the SJW emphasis i was like « ok i’ll try it before buying ». Then played the beta which is full of bugs and gameplay design that i dislike then i’m « meh if friend get it i might jump in » and now this… After being a DIEHARD fan of BF ever since BF1942, i’ll pass. Ea said, « don’t like it ? Don’t buy it ». That’s what i’m going to do. This year i’ll try COD since i’ve had much fun in the beta that was really smooth.
It’s a shame that i end up buying COD over BF from my PoV, really.
That’s what happens when you alienate your fans.
If parents would gain interest in their kids, and actually take them out for fun instead of buying their kids Video games that are to mature for their underage and already lagging behind immature child, that would seal the fate of scumbag companies like E.A. plus make a dent into repairing society for the better. Sure, kids can play video games, but honestly games like BF,COD should not be played by any kid under 13. Maybe even 16 for really immature kids. Kids have lost reality. They can sure talk crap over a mic, but in real life can’t even stick up for themselves. They need to be on a team sport, or in martial arts learning to better themselves, control their emotions in tough situations. It just sickens me how lazy parents have gotten. Then the schools brain wash said kids into believing they are girls when they have a sack and a rod. Insanity!
Battlefield V’s hype train arriving one month late at last…
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/74ac0a322a4c1d547b7b4a980f1e50d5cc1fd9fd8d5bec8930a45d1c067041c1.jpg …
It’s EA, of course it will. If anyone still needs this explained to them, then I feel bad for them.
Disgruntled gamers, i have a solution
come back to bad company 2 and revive the game with your presence
give EA naught the shekels nor satisfaction of having their (((client))) installed on your computer
revive the old games, and educate normies to do the same
we need (((AAA))) to die, to be irreverent just like MTV
and who knows, we might get a decent BF4 clone on Steam in just a year (WW3 by Farm51)
you kids won’t remember this, but way back when, games were finished and THEN released.
You sure like that D from E.A.
Yet still they are more fun to play than most of today’s trash. In fact, my gaming time in the last 3 months consist of over 90% oldschool games. Unreal has so many brilliant custom SP maps packs, i’m busy for another couple of weeks now, LOL…
Say to my face that Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Streets of Rage II, Final Fantasy 6, Shantae, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Donkey Kong Country, Biohazard Battle, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Metroid Prime and tons of others had trash graphics, trash audio, trash animations and sloppy gameplay.
Funny though because 3 of those 4 points are about graphics. Shows how shallow you really are. Gameplay > all and this garbage doesn’t seem to do EA and DICE any favors, no matter how pretty they are trying to make the graphics.
Look at League of Legends, look at Minecraft, look at Stardew Valley, Terraria, Overwatch, Hotline Miami, Bastion, Braid. You know what these have in common? None of them focused on graphics that much and instead tried to make a great game and all of them made sh*t loads of money.
This game…Just burn it in a dumbster that it deservers lol.
#getwokegobroke
“So basically, we are looking at four multiplayer modes.”
Thats wrong, the multiplayer modes at launch will be: Conquest/Conquest Assault, TDM, DOM, Breaktrough, Frontlines plus Airborne and Final Stand (those last 2 i think will be inside Grand Operations only)
sjw trash and its the same as all other battlefields a snipe fest.i stopped buying ea games a long time ago;
btw cod black out will destroy bf5 this year.
They also learned nothing from Battlefield 1. They tried something slightly different by going WWI setting and it delivered great results. To go from the highest liked trailer on YouTube to this is just pathetic.
I’ve put a few hours into the beta and I really don’t see myself buying this. It is such a step down from even 1.
LOL
