NHL 19’s Creative Director William Ho says that EA Sports may bring it to the PC if there is demand

Similarly to Madden NFL, NHL is a franchise that a respectable number of PC gamers have been asking for these past couple years. And it appears that NHL will follow Madden’s example and release on the PC, although it’s not certain whether this will happen this or next year.

In an interview with Shacknews, NHL 19’s creative director William Ho said that EA Sports may bring the NHL series to the PC platform, provided there is a demand for this sports franchise.

When asked about a PC release date for NHL 19, William Ho replied with a “We’ll see” and then added:

“We’re big PC gamers ourselves so we’ll see right? If there is enough demand then certainly we’ll want to cater to that.”

Our guess is that the NHL franchise will re-appear on the PC once it’s been powered by the Frostbite 3 Engine. After all, it’s well known that Frostbite 3 makes it really easy to port games to the PC platform. It’s also no coincidence that Madden NFL is now coming to the PC, after its switch to the Frostbite 3 Engine.

Fans have already launched a petition in order to show the demand of a new NHL game on the PC, and you can sign it up here.

  1. I am not going to beg for some sports games thats for sure, unless its a Tennis game. If you want to bring it to PC then great but if not I am fine with that too.

  2. Are we really back into the demand BS for games… Hey everybody lets sign a petition for a NHL game on PC…

    Nope

  3. I would buy it. I love Nhl but damnnn man i can’t play on consoles i just hate it. Let’s hope it works!

  4. Well its simple, port it to PC and get extra sales, dont port it to PC and dont get extra sales. This is EA trying to get free publicity by having PC gamers petition for it to be on PC and they can f*** right off IMO.

  5. Prove to gamers that you won’t give them some gimped version that has worse graphics and AI compared to the console versions like the PC versions of old and maybe there will be demand.

  6. EA’s “full steam ahead with loot boxes” sports casinos need more solid loyalists, especially after all the bad publicity they’ve been getting overall and people learning about their long term excessive spending in their marketplaces.

  7. Has there ever been demand for anything hockey-related anywhere but Canada? Women’s Volleyball gets better ratings on TV, for obvious reasons.

Asking PC gamers to beg for a hockey game is like telling a fisherman to beg for a horse and I don’t even know what that means.

No one really knows what that means.

It’s like people keep saying that dolphins are so smart.

Well, if dolphins are so damn smart then why do they live in igloos?

      :p

      1. The dolphins know to fear us so they hide in their eskimo domes. They should fear us as we crave their meat.

  8. This is rather comical, being that NHL lost a dump truck of support from fans on PC, because back in the mid 2000’s, EA kept dumping pathetically lazy PS2/Xbox ports on to PC, when PC was capable of far better.

Come the late 2000’s, the last few PC versions of NHL, continued to be PS2/Xbox ports, while the series moved on to the PS3/360. A lot like what Konami did with Pro Evolution on PC for a few years. Giving it a comically inferior version, to the console alternative.

If you plan to repeat history EA, then keep your trash ports.
