Fortnite breaks another record, generating $296 million in April across all platforms

SuperData Arcade has shared its monthly report, claiming that Fortnite has broken another record by generating $296 million in April across all platforms. Epic’s free to play game generated $223 million in March, therefore it will be interesting to see whether it will hit $300 million in May.

As SuperData noted, Grand Theft Auto V is finally showing its age. GTA V Online revenue declined 9% year-over-year, ending an impressive streak of 12 consecutive months with year-over-year growth. GTA V Online has declined sequentially every month since the start of the year, likely in part due to the continued rise of Fortnite as well as a dearth of significant content updates from Rockstar.

In other news, consumers spent $9.09 billion on digital games across all platforms in April, up from $7.42 billion in the prior year. The biggest growth drivers came from Console spend and Mobile. This more than offset relatively flat growth rates on Premium PC, Pay-to-Play PC, Free-to-Play PC and Social.

Last but not least, you can find below the world’s most popular digital games across PC, console and mobile for April 2018.

      1. And it just keep on going , it is the king of revenue for 5+ years now , it is soooo big that actually dwarfs console exclusive AAA revenues

    1. Who gives a s*** if it touches LoL revenue,, it’s still a ton of revenue for a game company that spent years making an engine for everybody to use an threw together a Battle Royal game in seemingly under a few months that has made PUPG look like the pile of trash that it is.

That’s more important than comparing it to LoL. It’s actually a solid and completely competent game that stole the thunder of the worlds fastest growing fad game that has come out in the past three years.

      1. “stole the thunder of the worlds fastest growing fad game”

by becoming the fastest growing fad game

        1. Still doesn’t change the fact that it stole the thunder completely due to the incompetence of Bluehole.

  1. I’m glad for EPIC GAMES. Let’s hope they invest some of that back into UT and their proprietary engine.

I can be wrong though, all this may not be possible.

  2. Yeah but did it beat the “record” that Microsoft announced State of Decay 2 just broke which is…………………. well they forget to actually tell us what record lol. Most bugs in a game in development for about 5 years with no actual development hell occurrences? Most bug ridden Unreal Engine 4 game of the generation?

Sorry, I got nothing about Fortnite, never seen more than 5 seconds of gameplay for it. Its something to do with tower defence or something?

  3. Incredible achievement. EPIC must be feeling a little like Disney with this cartoon game making so much money.

  4. Try to play this game but is really boring for me win some lose a lot.
most of the time i spend with running find some thing to shoot because
like every one just hide it will be fun whit first 5 and last 5 min only.

  5. I guess I’ll be that guy…. how does a free to play game make any money, let alone $300M a month? Are they robbing people? Or are we talking lootbox nonsense?
