Sunset Overdrive has been rated for the PC by the Korean game rating board

It appears that Sunset Overdrive may finally find its way to the PC as the Korean game rating board has rated the game for our platform. Although nothing is set on stone yet, these ratings are really trustworthy so we can assume that Sunset Overdrive PC will be revealed at E3 2018.

Of course this isn’t the first time we’re hearing about Sunset Overdrive coming to the PC. Back in June 2016, an online ad suggested that the game would hit the PC. And in September 2016, Insomnia Games has publicly stated that it would love to bring its title to the PC.

unset Overdrive is an open world action-adventure third-person shooter that came out to Xbox One in 2014. In this game, the player assumes the role of an employee of FizzCo who has to fight off the Overcharge Drinkers: humans who have turned into mutants after drinking FizzCo’s energy drink beverage. Players can can wall-run, use zip-lines, and grind rails to swiftly navigate through it, with a large arsenal of weapons to use.

Stay tuned for more!

    1. Be optimistic. Dead Rising 3 & 4, Quantum Break, Rise: Son of Rome, Killer Instinct, State of Decay: YOSE, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, Ori etc are on Steam.

      1. Microsh!t probably don’t own any of these ips maybe with the exception of Halo Wars (but this one is an ancient xbox 360 game so it is basically breadcrumbs). State of Decay:YOSE was released in a time where Windows 10 wasn’t yet released.

    2. 1,823 titles in my Steam library, 0 on Origin and 0 on Windows store. Makes you wonder who is missing out 😉

    3. Sunset Overdrive is owned by Insomniac, all of their second party games have been released on steam.

  1. This could mean that Halo 5: Guardians and Halo: TMCC coming to PC as well. Fingers crossed for the E3 announcement.

    1. That’s what I was thinking too. There’s a big patch coming for the MCC (including a server browser for custom games) so it’s clear that 343 would like to release everything on PC but then it’s all up to Microsoft. I hope it will also be on Steam.

    2. Knowing microsh!t, it will be an announcement followed by a disapointment. That or no announcement which is disapointing by default.

  2. Anybody played this on xbox ? Is it fun ? Wondering if it’s worth my time when on a steam sale lol.

  3. I don’t mind W10 exclusives if it means I get to play it.
Gears 4 was great, and I’m glad I got the chance to enjoy it. It was the best in the series since the original.

      1. Oh…I guess that makes a difference.
I forget there are people still on Windows 7 who game.
Well, if you ever build a new rig you’ll be good to go.

  4. I have been skeptical of this, i predicted this will happen yeas ago not now.

Put it on steam and it might get some sales, make it a windows store exclusive, no one will buy it, if i am not mistaken, the devs own the rights, they should release on steam….like quantum break.

  5. unless they completely remake it, whats the point? its gameplay is so repetitive and boring and just downright clunky. played it on my brothers xb1 near release and also the story/humor is so cringe its not even funny

  6. I’m really hoping this is a Quantum Break situation. I know the game isn’t top tier quality, but it always looked like a fun open world game to kill a few hours in. But ya, if it’s Windows Store only it’s 110% a no buy.

    1. Yep, Insomniac Games is a privately owned company, i.e. not a part of the Microsoft Studios group, so even if the game does appear exclusively on Win 10 Store (seemingly likely when the Xbone version was published by Microsoft Studios) then there’s still every chance of it subsequently appearing on Steam. A repeat of the Quantum Break (and some other one-time Xbone exclusives) situation, as you say.

      1. The only issue that I can see is Microsoft has the publishing rights to this game, despite Insomniac owning the IP. So they intimately have the final say where it’s sold. That was also the case with Quantum Break too, however (as far as I know). We’ll see how it goes, but I’d have a hard time believing Insomniac wouldn’t fight to get it on Steam considering how poorly it sold (they’d want as much exposure for their 2nd chance as possible).

        1. Indeed. I find it unlikely to imagine the game not subsequently coming to Steam. Also, it’s not as though Insomniac Games are tied to Microsoft in any informal way because despite Sunset Overdrive they’re most commonly associated with their games for Sony’s past consoles.

The increasing trend during this console generation for games with this type of origin and publishing history is for them to arrive on Steam eventually. Even some former PS4 third-party exclusives ultimately turned out to be merely timed-exclusives, e.g. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Battlezone (2016), Batman: Arkham VR, etc.

  7. MS trying to stay relevant in the media with their re-release everything from the past plan.

  8. A few years ago, this was the only Xbox exclusive I thought looked interesting. Now I don’t care.
