Asura’s Wrath is now playable on RPCS3 in 4K

The team behind the best Playstation 3 emulator, RPCS3, has released a new video showing Asura’s Wrath running in glorious 4K. Asura’s Wrath is an Unreal Engine 3 action game that released in 2012 on old-gen consoles (PS3 and X360). And since it never came out on the PC, this is the perfect time to play it.

In Asura’s Wrath, players switch between third-person combat and interactive sequences with player input in the form of quick-time event button prompts.

According to the team, those with a decent CPU will be able to run the game with 30fps. Currently there is no way to unlock the framerate so here is hoping that someone will relase a 60fps patch, similar to the one for Zelda: Breath of the Wild for CEMU.

Enjoy!

    1. They’ve already unlocked Demon’s Souls to 60 fps, although it doubles the game speed so they still have to find a work around for that.

      1. I think there’s no way around it, unfortunately… the FPS is tied to the game logic in Demon’s Soul

        1. Botw had similar issue. But the team behind cemu worked around it successfully. So no reason as to why rpcs3 team can’t do the same.

  1. I just jail broke my PS3 today, Demon’s Souls is currently being dumped. Can’t wait to experience it in glorious 4K!

        1. what?? seroiusly? i bought POP Prodigy back in summer 2011 finished about 2-3 times ( best chell shading games and visual novel for me) and i didnt found any dlc to purchase on steam. why would they sold only on console? this game is well optimized on PC. i play it on intelHD3000 back then

    1. Okay. Let me guess the specs…..

I think it might require a minimum 8 Cores/16 Threads CPU, be it from AMD or INTEL.

Though it seems, the “recommended’ demands a Ryzen Threadripper processor having 16 Cores/32 Threads, or maybe the i9 from Intel with 18 Cores/36 threads, whichever Generation Model these might be from.

Overclocking with LN2 might also help slightly with perf gains.

      /s.

      1. I thought you had gone over the edge until I got to the /s part.

btw Don’t ever go over the edge. It’s not the drop that kills you. It’s the sudden stop that does you in.

      2. Better buy used PS3 for their exclusive since the requirements to run the emu decently is the same price you buy a few used ps3..but yeah, you can’t run it in 4k using original ps3,so if you have (alot) of money there’s always another option

    2. The overall recommended CPU is an i7 8700k. Although you can get away with older i7’s some i5’s and Ryzen 5/7. Note that RPCS3 loves high clockspeed AND high corecount.

      1. Aren’t those high end? When i think of decent, i think of my I7 3770, which can play modern games just fine, emulation not so much…

        1. Of course an i7 8700k is high end as was the i7 3770 when it was released. The problem with older CPU is that they lack support for some extensions like AVX2, AVX512 and TSX which are quite important to RPCS3 and can boost performance significantly. Don’t get me wrong an i7 3770 is totally enough for lighter games. Hell there are games you can run with an i3. But for demanding games a modern midrange cpu (any desktop i5) generally beats out older and then much more expensive high end cpus.

  2. The only thing is download size for PS3 games isn’t exactly small. Is it really worth it to download such huge files for the hope that the game might just work on your PC.

    1. What’s the exact download size on PS3 ? I did some google search, and it seems the max installed size would be around 7 GB or something ?

      Not sure though.

  3. Botw had similar issue. But the team behind cemu worked around it successfully. So no reason as to why rpcs3 team can’t do the same.

  4. What game? This is a pretty entertaining anime with great fight scenes, just watch it on youtube.
