As we’ve already stated, Photogrammetry is a technique that can benefit a lot of video-games. And since Skyrim is an open-world RPG featuring lots of objects with different textures, we are almost certain that it would look better with this technique. Thankfully, we can now take a look at such a thing as modders ‘lucidstorm1’ and ‘Renthal311’ have released the first mod that adds ‘Photogrammetric’ 4K/2K textures to Bethesda’s RPG.
Now the good news here is that the mod is available for download as we speak. The bad news is that it only updates three textures. The modders have updated the classical standard tree stump that spawns in all forests, muchrooms with custom flora around them, and the tree forest birch stump.
As the modders noted, all new models are optimized using industry standard tools in order to preserve the shape and the UV. The diffuse maps were edited, while the normal maps were redone. Moreover, these new models featured a higher number of polygons than the default models.
Those interested can download the mod from here. Below you can find some screenshots showcasing these new ‘photogrammetric’ textures. Here is hoping that the modders will update more textures in the near future!

I love how moders cand do more like some devs ( ehm .. . crytec )
Also i love how new 4k consoles dont have this 😀
This is a raw and unoptimized model: just see how many torn UV seams it has. And different parts of the mesh look like mapped with various texel density. Proper using of photogrammetry in games is impossible without color baking and projection from high to low poly with correct UV mapping: it seems that this work was not done.
I bet you’re a riot at parties.
But is he wrong?
This does look really nice, but I would like to see in game and without the DoF effects, which makes for nice screenshots.
I’d rather party with someone who tells it as it is than with fake individuals who pretend like stuff is what it isn’t.
touché sir
Because of the guys like him you have video games today. Not everybody dedicates their lives to partying from dusk till dawn. If only we had more people like him instead of Kim Kardashians…
I like a*s so I’ll take Kim over that boring nerd.
Nice. It also seems that renowned textures modder LupusHegemonia is working on some improved texture and minor corrections that the mod’s author will soon be uploading as optional files. Great stuff. Here’s hoping they bring it over to Skyrim SE to save us from having to convert the meshes ourselves.
Coming up next: “Photogrammetried” nude mods.

I modded skyrim before to look better the thing is its still the same game.
I hope Witcher 3 gets this kind of treatment.
While this looks great, the meshes are horribly unoptimized. I don’t even know if the models have LOD’s. It looks like a straight Rip from the megascans website. Also, as stated above, the textures have tons of UV seams.
While these mods can be great, they really stand out from the rest of the assets. These will really only look “fitting and good” when all related assets have photogrammetry counterparts.
Well uh… Nice how they had CHAINSAWS in Skyrim!
