YouTube’s member ‘Bradley’ has shared a video showing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild running in 4K with 60fps in CEMU. In order to achieve something like that, Bradley used an unreleased beta version of Xalphenos’s 60fps patch.
According to reports, this unreleased beta version of Xalphenos’s 60fps patch also increases performance, meaning that the game can now be enjoyed with 60fps even in really demanding areas (like the outdoor areas).
There is still no ETA for when this new version of Xalphenos’s 60fps patch will be released. From the looks of it, there are currently two bugs (skip issues during paragliding and stamina being replenished too fast) that Xalphenos is trying to fix before releasing it.
In case you weren’t aware of, Xalphenos’s 60fps patch unlocks the framerate of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, allowing PC gamers to enjoy this new Zelda game with 60fps in CEMU. Ironically, the emulated version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will most likely turn into the definitive version of the game as both the WiiU and the Nintendo Switch versions are running with a 30fps locked framerate.
Enjoy!

Now I will tell you this. I still enjoy my Switch. But for emulation to do this. It just shows you one thing. Zelda Botw is made for 60 fps. But the current Nvidia SoC inside the switch can only offer 30 fps at 720P in handheld or 23/30 fps at 1080P in Docked mode.
So I give it a few years and we will see a new Nintendo Switch that will play Zelda Botw for example with a Nvidia Volta SoC only it will play Zelda at 60 fps since the games engine does not seem to break at all at the higher FR. Nor does it make the game feel sped up in any way.
I am going to have to try this out after this Winters Expansion hits for the game on console since I pretty much want to fully get the most out of it on Switch before I play the game again on my PC.
you wish, nintendo is to lazy to make something more powerfull, they will stay with obsolete hardware and milk all the fans because they will buy it even if it is garbage
I’d call it ‘cheap’ rather than “lazy”.
Both versions have identical textures, effects, etc.
“switch can only offer 30 fps at 720P in handheld or 23/30 fps at 1080P in Docked mode”
It’s actually worse than that. The game uses dynamic resolution scaling on Switch whereby resolution can drop from 720p to 1152×648 in portable mode and down from 900p (not 1080p) to 1440×810 in docked mode.
900P in dock mode not 1080P
Incorrect on the “port from the WiiU version”
so how does this perfom?
Really shows how awful the game is on native hardware.
Meh it does ok on a switch we are dealing with a 1ghz A53 quad core here i’m freaking amazed it can even play skyrim at the performance it is. GPU is only 512Gflops too i think. Low bandwidth memory not even hitting 32gb of bandwidth which even my 9500GT from 08 can do.
Switch is a nice portable just a terrible underpowered current gen console. Then again even microsoft’s new xbox one x has a CPU that is weaker then the ones you can find in tablets.
unfortunately no one plays on PC anymore
wut?
Unfortunately for you, PC is the second most profitable gaming platform.
yep….pc gaming is dying!
“unfortunately no one plays on PC anymore”
I think you have just come to wrong place my friend….
Looks like a nice game but oh man, those low res textures hurt the eye. Perhaps they’re not meant to be seen on a big screen though, but still.
They look great to me on cemu at 1440P
Must be the video compression then? Anyway, it surely looks nice. And from what I’ve heard it’s a good game, enjoy it mate 🙂
“the WiiU and the Nintendo Switch versions are running with a 30fps locked framerate”
The game is capped to 30fps on both consoles. It’s far from being a locked to 30fps, especially so on Wii U.
Wii U was terrible my friend got it for that and yeah very Skippy even today switch is a lot better and now with the updates its basically a fixed 30
It’s “basically” not.
Yes it is i beat the game originally and yes it was bad but for a console game its not bad for the switch.
Have you played since it got the updates? Digital Foundry even reviewed it and showed its a lot better.
Hell i could name 5 titles off the top of my head that are exclusives for the xbox one that run below 20fps often.
Anyways very soon once we don’t have to build major shaders cemu is going to be the best way to play it.
I have no idea how they are doing this as i can never get it past 20 except in the menu.
Just so users know get the latest cemu and cemuhook that way you can unlock the frame rate before then i was only getting 20fps in most cases except in the menu and shrines
Horaay, we will be able to play a game without paying! Yaaay!
Now go on and tell me how many people playing Wii U or in the future Switch games on emus actually own those games. 5%?
But yaaaay, emulators are great.
And? Whats your problem? IMO if you can take something for free, you should.
Nintendo is the most greedy, evil console manufacturer of them all.
You see, its a traditionary to create as powerful consoles as possible for the Target sale price and then sell them at loss, so you could offer the best console possible.
Sony AND MS did it with every console, even console refreshes all sold at loss until production gears up.
As of latest 2 consoles, Xbox One X will be sold at loss and Pro was sold at loss too
Nintendo is the ONLY company that Openly said they like to make money on Hardware from DAY ONE.
and this is the MAIN reason why every console they make is underpowered TRASH.
The ONLY time GreedyTendo sold something at loss, was when people told them to shove the wiiu, so according to Nintendo they price reduction was so heavy that they actually lost money on every console, which i dont believe, because even back than you could buy complete Chinese tablet for 50$ with CPU and all that while wiiu gamepad is just cheap monitor without any CPU or GPU.
Does Nintendo have any idea how much money they will make/ trouble they would save themselves if they just released a PC port now that a) the game has sold well enough and b) the emulation version has actually surpassed the console version? Seriously, what are they waiting for!?
