THIEF will NOT Launch with Mantle Support, Coming in March via a Patch

THIEF will be the second game that will support AMD’s new API, Mantle. And while Nixxes Software and Square Enix claimed that the game would support Mantle from the get-go, EIDOS Montreal’s ‘Valerie Bourdeau’ revealed that this won’t be the case after all.

As Bourdeau said, the development team is busy working on a patch to support AMD’s Mantle and TrueAudio technologies that is scheduled for March.

“We’re confident this patch will ensure the best and fastest THIEF experience for AMD Radeon customers. We’re sorry we couldn’t bring this to you sooner – although we will use this time to bring you the very best experience possible and will let you know when the patch is ready.”

THIEF is currently planned for release this week!

    There’s no point in getting it. The game’s incredibly buggy and at times unplayable due to bugs preventing certain game actions from happening leading to mission failure or failure to load next cutscene/plot segment/gameplay segment, etc.

        There’s been a copy floating online for a few days now. So most likely FitanTall is playing a bootleg. And of course bootlegs always run exactly how the developers intended.

        Thief reviews are coming out tomorow.There is one and the Spanish magazine scored it 90.
        All the hate for this game comes from so called thief fans that “played” previous ones and they just can’t stand what they did with this reboot.
        Maybe they are right but the thing is,they didn’t played it.

  • talk about potential slipping through your fingers… AMD sucks when it comes to execution of ideas. They can’t even manage to launch mantle even when THIEF is supported by them.

    the patch will probably up mid march & Mantle drivers will be what? upped in early April if we know AMD.

    I love AMD & what they’re tying to do for the gaming industry but i’m losing faith in them as if they aren’t even trying………

    • I wonder if this is because AMD are not helping them out at the studio. Mantle should be ready to ship with the game. This is why NVIDIA get their tech into games when shipping because they provide the tools and support. Granted a graphics API is more complex but still it’s a real let down from AMD with all the noise around Mantle just lately.

      If you can’t back your own product up for a launch of a game then it’s not a good sign at all.

    Ether way If you own a Nvidia card or AMD card this game is going to be great. I just feel sorry for those PS4/Xbox1 owners.

        Because a $149 gpu called the 750ti plays games better then them. A 50 series card playing games better then consoles not even 6 month’s old.. lol now that’s funny.

        cuz they bought 400-500 waperweights with no games when you can shove a 150$ gpu on a old pc and play the “next gen” version of bf4 for free where on consoles you gotta pay for mp.

          Do you think those people who bought “trashboxes” give a crap? Also, you do know that even though the 750ti matches the PS4’s performance, the PS4’s GPU will be better overtime due to optimization right?

            point is right now they wasted money, but gotta buy em next gen boxes brah.

            If they waited a while, then again they were stuck with those trashboxes for so many years they wanted to upgrade.

            Pc gets optimized as well, especially now with mantle and x86 pc perfomance will skyrocket.

    With Nixxes involved this game will be really well optimized within a few months after launch. Regardless of which team you are on, Green or Red. I’m a big fan of Nixxes. Nixxes.

      Well as we havent seen any dragons for a long time it’s safe to say Mantle are as dead as dragons ..LOL
      Annyway f*ck AMD, my next card will be Nvidia again as we all know there is nothing stoping them and AMD can be in every damn console it wont matter sh*t when all is said and done, right thinking here or ?

      And we who uses real CPU’s aka Intel dont need that Mantle crap. And whitch Pc gamer in the right mind uses an AMD Cpu anyway heh!

        Well i dont see anything graphically demanding in the near future, castlevania 2? pfff, wolfenstein? meh, evil within? not really, only watchdogs but thats a ubisoft games and ubisoft games are filled with issues, so ill keep my distance until i can make sure it works well.

        I dont know what to do, i am kinda like the whole 750 TI right now, i got a old pc with a 168$ gtx 660 that i got because my old videocard died. I can play next gen games without a next gen trashbox.

        Amd says mantle will improve perfomance and since new consoles are amd based, pcs with amd cpus and gpus will perfom better.

        I can just sit here and wait to see what happens in a year or so, no need to upgrade. Ps my cpu is amd, not as powerfull as intel but it stilll does the job for its price.

          True as almoste every so called nextgen games dont look that much better then the pc versions we allready have been playing for years and even John here said the same eariler over here.

          But be sure of that nvidia will do anything they can to make the upcoming pc versions scale up as much it’s possible. They want to sell cards and make the new consoles looks pathetic ..LOL

          Annyway right now I only have a old gtx 570 myself but it seems to to well but im sure it will soon change, but of course one can scale down but how funny is that :/

          But if you got an AMD cpu then it might be good to go AMD for a new gfx card but who knows how much Mantle will be used, I dont think much at all and when it’s used it will only matter to those with weak AMD Cpu’s.

          So if you can hold on, just wait it out mate and see what happens. No need to rush things right now 🙂

            its a old cpu on a pci 2.0 gpu slot, ill upgrade the whole thing later, i just dont see the point right now, what for? Nothing graphically impressive comes out this year.

    Funny comments about AMD 🙂 Btw there is a saying in bad tralnslation: Mantle for t4 is like… slapping a piece of shit in the face. Or another: washy shit washed. 🙂
    And I refer to the game not mantle, mantle is actually pretty cool.

    It would be better if the retards would wait 5 more years until released something that its actually better then the PS3 as for all I have seen it’s just slightly better then the old gen. Just take a look att MGS5, just higher res and some more effect as else it’s just the same s*it :/
