And here are its release notes:

This driver, version 353.38, iis a GeForce Hot Fix driver, version 353.38 that addresses the following issues:

  • Chrome Crashes/Freezes/TDRs
  • Delays when starting or switching apps & games with GSYNC enabled

A GeForce driver is an incredibly complex piece of software, with more lines of code than the entire Windows OS. We have an army of software engineers constantly adding features and fixing bugs. These changes are checked into the main driver branches, which are eventually run through a massive QA process and released.

Since we have so many changes being checked in, we usually try to align driver releases with significant game or product releases. This process has served us pretty well over the years but it has one significant weakness. Sometimes a change that is important to many users might end up sitting and waiting until we are able to release the driver.

The GeForce Hotfix driver is our way to trying to get some of these fixes out to you more quickly. These drivers are basically the same as the previous released version, with a small number of additional targeted fixes. The fixes that make it in are based in part on your feedback in the Driver Feedback threads and partly on how realistic it is for us to quickly address them. These fixes (and many more) will be incorporated into the next official driver release, at which time the Hotfix driver will be taken down.

To be sure, these Hotfix drivers are beta, optional and provided as-is. They are run through a much abbreviated QA process. The sole reason they exist is to get fixes out to you more quickly. The safest option is to wait for the next WHQL certified driver. But we know that many of you are willing to try these out.

These HotFix drivers represent a lot of additional work by our engineering teams, I hope they provide value for you. We’ll try it out and see if people like the idea and want us to continue.

  • Silviu

    Good work Nvidia !

  • Phoenix

    Quick fix , good job.

  • What’s a TDR?

    • Phoenix

The classic “Display driver stopped responding and has recovered” error which resets the GPU because it didn’t respond

TDR = Timeout Detection and Recovery

      • Oh god, thanks. I was having that issue and thought it was my GPU dying. I was about to die.

    • Pey

      What´s a Cecilio?

      • goCorinthiansSportClub

        a disease!

  • FasterThanFTL

Batman Arkham Knight also runs a little smoother with this driver.

    • Silviu

i can confirm that on my GTX 680 runs much better in min FPS using ultra settings !

      • Sandy Bridge

There are no Ultra settings on PC what on earth are you talking about?

        • Yeah, he’s only using high/very high in GTA 5 but claims it’s ultra LOL

          • Silviu

max with FXAA 60+ FPS (i lowered the grass to high)
            70+ FPS in wild areas!
            90-100+ FPS in city
and i love GTA V so far i mean it runs great on my monster PC!
Thats what it means when a company has no gimmicks and bad marketing for a different “GPU Arhitecture” or force x64 tes via drivers.

          • dfjbdfajdfbadfshjb dsbdfasfkjd

no he told me he actually plays it in ultra not high very high

        • Silviu

          maximum settings in game!

      • Adrian Hernandez Garcia

WTF?, the only settings i see in my game are Ultra-crap, maybe is a bug with my pc.

      • Shredder Orokusaki

how much better does it run? What fps do you get?

  • Aki Mikage

    I don’t get any of em 🙂

  • Articuno76

Ah, so it wasn’t only me getting some weird hanging when minimising certain windows with G-Sync. Figured it was a driver issue as rolling drivers back fixed the problem. Guess I’ll update to the newest drivers once my card gets back from being RMA’d.

    • Jay

I’m jealous. I want G-Sync so bad, it’s just way too expensive (and doesn’t make financial sense, and it’s a ripoff). Okay, maybe I’m not as jealous as I thought.

      • Articuno76

Yeah, I don’t G-Sync is so great that it is worth the cost of a whole new monitor with a G-Sync premium on top of that. But if you are naturally in need of a new monitor the question becomes “is the premium on top of the monitor I was going to buy anyway worth paying?”. And honestly, that’s a bit tougher of a question to answer.

  • Odd? My GF Experience is crashing when i start it up now.. hmm. I’ll reinstall it and hopefully that will fix it?

    • Phoenix

No problems here , maybe try to do a clean installation ?

      • It got weird right after the install ;o I’ll try it later tonight!

    • Jay

I suggest not installing GF Experience. That’s only useful if you have no idea how to go to Settings->Video and tick a few options.

      • No no ;p I need it to record videos and stuff from my desktop. 🙂 Its almost as good as fraps but it doesn’t make me lag. Who on earth even uses the settings thing? lol 🙂

        • Jay

Oh, haha, carry on then 🙂

  • applejack

XFX got the boot from Nvidia many years ago. I find it amusing that DSOG keep using that TWIMTBP Nvidia image with XFX “play hard” logo at its lower right 🙂

    • Silviu

loool yes XFX work now with AMD lol i didn’t notice that on DSOG
      you sir…+1

  • Not got a TDR since installing this driver, good job.

  • Jay

“A GeForce driver is an incredibly complex piece of software, with more lines of code than the entire Windows OS”

That’s interesting, seeing how it’s only a 300mb download. I guess that’s why they don’t say which* Windows.

    • Martin

      Probably Windows 95 lol.

    • It’s rather an ambiguous statement.

    • archaven

That’s alot of Bull if you asked me. Unless comparing with a very small OS.

    • Paul Insco

size of installation does not equal x amount of lines of code fyi

      • Jay

Right, and more lines of code does not equal more complexity. It sounds like Nvidia is comparing apples to oranges.

    • applejack

some Windows XP pro “Lite” editions weight just as much. so there!

  • Schiller

Is this also for Windows 8.1?

    • Sheikh

      Win7/8 includes Win8.1.

  • goCorinthiansSportClub

    thnx.
