Tomb Raider’s upcoming movie appears to be really faithful to the video game

We don’t usually share this kind of stories but compared to other movies that are based on video-games, the upcoming movie for Tomb Raider appears to be really faithful to its source material. Warner Bros has just released its debut trailer and the guys over at IGN have made a comparison video between the video game and the movie trailer.

As you can clearly see, this is the most faithful movie adaptation of a video game ever released. And while we expect some differences here and there, the plot and pretty much all major details appear to be taken directly from the game.

The fact that this movie trailer can be easily recreated, shot by shot, via the game’s cut-scenes also shows how close to the Crystal Dynamics’ reboot this new Tomb Raider movie actually is.

Enjoy!

  1. I was hoping for something darker, considering the Tomb Raider reboot ( game ). Now it could be editing but even if it looks close the game indeed, it also, unfortunately, looks like an uninspired action flick.

It is a pity they took the ship breaking up out ( much more dramatic ) but hopefully, they will keep the dark Japanese mythology. Hollywood rarely delivers these days…

    1. “And looks like utter garbage.”

better than Cradle of life. goes to show you that not even the original games could make a better movie.

  2. “Really faithful to the video game”

Which one, the Tomb Raider series or the Lara Croft: Daughter of Rambo series?

Also, wow, that actress is stiff as hell.

      1. Oh, I just realised she’s the Man From UNCLE & Ex Machina girl.

        Good point ^^

Wait – does that mean they actually want her to act even worse than Fassbender in Animus Creed? ……

  3. That’s not a good thing, I dislike the new games a lot for their scripted generic gameplay, but the story is even worse than the gameplay.

    1. The Silent Hill movies were alright. the actress in the 2nd movie did not look as pretty as the video game model though.

Mortal Kombat movie was plagued by cheesy acting. even worse for MK Annihilation….even worse for the TV series…..and even way worse for the cartoon series, like really horrible.

  4. Want to watch because Alicia Vikander, don’t want to watch because videogame movies (and one game that IMO kinda “eh”).
    Hummmm…

  5. Which game? The ones she is a explorer and a “tomb raider” or those ones when she becomes a manslaughter?

  6. The Silent Hill movies were actually not that bad.

I never liked the Silent Hill games (I like the lore of them, not the actual gameplay) so the movies were perfect for me, personally.
