Silent Hill 2

Someone is working on a Silent Hill 2 first-person remake in Unreal Engine 4

Silent Hill 2 is considered by many as the best part in Konami’s horror series. And even though Konami does not plan to release any remake similar to the one that Capcom offered for Resident Evil 2, someone is working on a proof of concept project, aiming to bring some scenes from this game to Unreal Engine 4.

Now what’s really interesting with this fan remake is that YouTube’s member ‘unknownexe96’ has implemented a first-person perspective that makes this Silent Hill 2 project look quite interesting. In case this YouTuber’s name rings any bells, he’s the same guy responsible for the Resident Evil 3 proof of concept fan remake in Unreal Engine 4 we shared last week.

Now I don’t know whether this YouTuber will be able to complete both of these really interesting projects. Obviously I don’t expect a single person to develop full remakes of Resident Evil 3 and Silent Hill 2 in Unreal Engine 4, however it would be really cool to explore these environments ourselves. Oh, and while we are at it, some enemies from these games in these new environments would be even better.

  1. FPS Silent Hill 2 really seems like the most boring thing you could do with the game. It was fine for PT, because it had nothing to really do with it in the sense of being what the game actually was or would have been.

It will get pulled down incredibly fast, there’s no way it will come out or be anything but something to write articles about that are bordering on clickbait tier like most fan made remakes feel like.

  2. Well, make an article if its actually finished someday or if it doesn’t get a cease and desist letter and copyright claim.

If this were any other company maybe they could notice that fans are interested and make something awesome like Resident Evil 2.

But this is Konami so nothing is gonna come out of this. Just the crushed dream of a Silent Hill 2 remake.

    1. Guess these little side/hope projects whole purpose is to get noticed, hired by some game developer company. I don’t think there’s any intention to finish them.

    1. This Bob guy has some serious mental issues I think. Might also have a personal vendetta against John as well, as evident from his constant bickering.

  3. Sounds cool. I’ve been hoping for a fresh replay of Silent Hill 2 for a while.
Hope the Konaminazis don’t come down with a DMCA on this one.

    1. None of these projects are made with the intention of being completed or even developed much.

They are clickbait material in order to get free advertising for the authors.

      1. True, maybe my dislike of Konami is undue in this scenario. However, these are the people that made Metal Gear Solid 3 into a Pachinko machine, so Konaminazis is a fine term for them IMO.

        1. Holy sh*t bud take it easy on the adderall. I did not say you were a lawyer, nor did anything you say make me think you were.

Konami has a history of sniffing out anything like this for years. You’re really living up to your sperging profile pic lol.

  4. A) Someone, more than one person, fully remade RE2 on their own in UE4 so it’s entirely possible.

    B) Stop this stupidity. Silent Hill 2 is literally a blueprint for why 90s/early 2000s survival horror games were third person. The fog in the game literally exists for a dual reason – the PS2 couldn’t render that far, and not being able to see things until they were up close made it scary.

Putting SH2 in first person is the opposite of scary.
