Capcom has released a video comparison between the original N64 version and the upcoming HD Remaster version of Resident Evil 0. Unfortunately, this comparison does not include the Wii version that featured better visuals than the N64 version (apparently the video does pack some scenes from the Wii version, so kudos to Dark Gio). Resident Evil 0 launches in early 2016 on PC. Enjoy!

widescreen vert- FTW! why show more with a widescreen when you can show less?
The backgrounds are pre-rendered at a 4:3 aspect ratio so your options are stretch the image or zoom-in.
And TBF the zoom-in method works well for survival horror games (as REmake Remaster with its delayed scrolling technique proves) because limiting your view/removing pertinent survival information is part of the genre philosophy anyway.
Of course you could play the game with the full vertical image in a 4:3 window if seeing the entire image was the most important factor for you (going by REmake Remaster).
I think that people playing REmake remaster without the 4:3 mode and classic controls are ruining their own experience, those shouldn’t be the default options, you can even miss items with the zoomed in mode.
i played through in zoom mode and didn’t miss anything… of course i’ve played resi 1 a million times before, however i was kind of expecting the zoom to make me miss something, tho it never did as i said.
You can miss objects if you don’t move fully explore a room, but there’s never an instance where an object visible on the original is flat out impossible to see in the remake (thanks to the scrolling trick). You might just have to walk a couple steps further up/down to see it.
Personally I like the changes and welcome them. But then I’ve played these games to death and I have to agree with you in that some of them ruin the experience: The new controls in REmake Remaster for example, let you run literal circles around enemies, something that’s actually impossible with the original control scheme.
The backgrounds actually look good. Doesn’t look like they were merely upscaled from the original.
Your work with the news is becoming pretty bad, Papadopoulos. Maybe you need to watch the video before writing anything.
after years and years of begging for an hd remake remake of resi one i was so disappointed with the actual product… there is no way i’ll buy into resi zero, i’m just going to put resi behind me now.
that went from Super sh*t to just sh*t
guys please we need to buy this sh*t so we can have RE2 HD ;_;
