The Order 1886

PS4 emulator shadPS4 can run The Order: 1886 for the first time

The team behind the best PlayStation 4 emulator, shadPS4, has released a new version of it. And, for the first time, this PS4 emulator can launch and run The Order: 1886. Spoiler alert: the game remains unplayable. Nevertheless, this is a huge step towards emulating it.

Below, you can watch two videos that show 30 minutes of gameplay. YouTube user John GodGames Emus recorded them using a Ryzen 9 7900X3D, 32GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070. Even with this powerful PC, the game runs at only 2-3 FPS. The GPU and CPU aren’t being used much, so the slow speed is mostly because the emulator still needs a lot of work.

There are also lots of visual problems in the game. So even if you’re okay with the super low 2-3 FPS, the game is still not playable. This is a big step forward for the emulator, and that’s exciting for people following its progress. But for regular players, it might not seem like a big deal yet. So don’t expect too much right now.

Another PS4-only game that appears to be running better than ever is Driveclub. YouTube’s BrutalSam has shared a video, showcasing the game during rain. And it looks almost perfect. Even the rain effects inside the cockpit work properly now. I could not spot any major visual glitches or issues. So, as I predicted, by the end of 2025, Driveclub should be fully playable on PC via shadPS4.

Some other PS4 exclusives that can run on shadPS4 are Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, Alienation, and The Witch & The Hundred Knight 2. Plus, the emulator can launch inFAMOUS: Second Son, Killzone: Shadow Fall, and God of War 3 Remastered.

Bloodborne is also fully playable with shadPS4. At least for the most part. I’ve heard some complaints, but right now, you can play from start to finish this PS4-only game on PC via shadPS4.

Speaking of Bloodborne, I also suggest taking a look at these mods for it. And yes, in case you’re wondering, you can use them with shadPS4.

Let’s start with Bloodborne Magnus Opus. Bloodborne Magnus Opus is a project that aims to restore content that was cut from the game. Then we have two cool HD Texture Packs. The first pack overhauls numerous/various textures, whereas the second one focuses on armors.

Bloodborne PC Remaster is another amazing mod. This mod enables dynamic shadowcasting for the entire game. It also modifies the range and visibility of shadows. Not only that, but it packs some higher-quality textures.

It’s also worth noting that although Sony took down Lance McDonald’s 60FPS patch, you can still find it on NexusMods. This is a must-have mod as it allows you to enjoy the game at 60FPS. So, make sure to download it as it can greatly enhance your gaming experience. Plus, you can find a mod that lets you play it in first-person.

I’m really impressed with what the shadPS4 team has done so far. Like I’ve said before, I think they should focus on PS4 games that you can only play on that console. And it seems like they are doing exactly that. I’m really curious to see when The Order: 1886 will finally be playable. I don’t think it will happen in 2025, but maybe by the end of 2026? That sounds more likely.

  1. Regardless of the fact that The Order 1886 being essentially an interactive movie; it had some really cool ideas, and the graphics were particularly mind-blowing for a console game released literally 10 years ago now in 2015.

    1. Practically no AI, no physics, no interactivity and very small levels, just like Ryse Son of Rome it had room to be visually impressive as all the ressources of that tiny console have been dedicated to graphics, to be honest this never impressed me, there are other PS4 titles that are graphically as if not more impressive while also being solid games and not interactive movies.
