Project CARS – Latest 3.0 Version versus Release Version – FPS and Rain Effects Comparison

The unofficial FB page of Project CARS shared the following video, comparing the game’s release version with its latest one. As we can see, Slightly Mad Studios has improved the game’s rain effects without affecting its overall performance. We still believe that these effects are not up to what Driveclub offers, but at least they are better than those feature in the release version. Enjoy!

  1. The thing that breaks it is that the splatter on the windshield doesn’t seem to coincide with the mist from other cars. They should take a look at the effect from DIRT 2 when you drive through puddles and make a more mild version of it.

  2. Console users don’t care about graphics though and the game is 30fps locked and is rated lower than Project Cars, 83% on Steam. Yet another failed PS4 exclusive.

    1. Console users don’t care about graphics? Seems like somebody needs to catch up with the times and not be stuck on some 7th generation argument. Get with it kid. And there is nothing wrong with DC’s framerate, its just you brainwashed idiots that want to pretend like there is, but I do agree that these are marketing shots. And PCars is not better than DC, PCars is boring as heck, with decent graphics.

  3. Driveclub has more natural light system at night and evening, and better rain effects. But with sunny weather project cars looks more realistic in all ways.

  4. I don’t want to crush your feelings but if that’s the texture resolution in Driveclub in marketing shots (it’s supposed that are the best example of the game’s graphics), those textures are like… 1/4th? the size of any normal texture in any modern PC racing game.

You can have beautiful shaders pretty much in any game, but everything has to be up top to reach the quality level we expect.
