New Metro Exodus trailer shows 6 minutes of gameplay footage, welcoming newcomers to its world

Deep Silver and 4A Games today released Metro Exodus Uncovered – a new gameplay video that welcomes series newcomers into the incredible world of Metro. Metro Exodus has been under development for five years, and aims to build on the series’ strengths while offering players a new sensation of freedom and exploration in the wastelands of post-apocalyptic Russia.

I’m pretty sure that veterans will appreciate this new trailer as it features brand new gameplay footage that they have never seen before. As for newcomers to the series, this video explores the unique world and deep gameplay features of Metro Exodus.

Metro Exodus is described as an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created. Players will explore the Russian wilderness across vast, non-linear levels and follow a thrilling story-line that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter.

The game will support real-time ray tracing effects and is currently planned for a February 15th release.

Enjoy!

  1. I love my achievements, and I hate the fact that the Epic Store doesn’t support them. I personally consider the game “not complete” if I can’t unlock the achievements, hence I would never buy on the Epic Store.

Then there’s all the other reasons to hate the Epic Store since it’s pretty much incomplete in so many ways. Very unfortunate.

    1. What do Achievements add to the game for you? Id be interested to hear your opinion. i’ve never really understood the need for them, they mean nothing to me.

      1. Hum not much, that being said some games i don’t know why i just like to do them. Like Dark Souls i played a ridiculous amount of dark souls, and before i knew i was close to doing all achivements so i just did it, which made me want to do for the rest of the franchise.
So i guess what i’m trying to say is that i don’t need them but it sure don’t hurt to have them.

      2. They break your immersion with constant popups reminding you that you are playing a game.

If you gonna add such “achievements” might as well make it like far cry 5 that you get skill points for doing those “challenges”

      3. For me Achievements are a good way to measure how much of a game I’ve completed. If I see there’s several Achievements regarding secrets or undiscovered areas, then this gives me an indication that there’s good stuff left to enjoy.

Plus I use Achievements as an extra incentive to try different play styles I might not otherwise engage with. For instance, if a game has speedrun or no damage Achievements, then I might try for those for fun.

Ultimately, Achievements are like real life trophies. We could play sports without getting trophies, but there’s something motivating about knowing you’ll get a special commendation/trophy/badge if you complete certain goals. The World Cup wouldn’t be the same without the…World Cup trophy. Same goes for in-game Achievements I feel.

However, many games have stupid/insulting Achievements, which ruins the fun, but I do enjoy a game with reasonable but challenging goals that lets me finally unlock all Achievements…it makes me feel like I’ve mastered the game…like the developers are giving me “certificate of completion” for their game and I can rest knowing I’ve seen and done it all.

        Hope that makes sense!

        1. No offence but achievements are a waste of time! If you are a child i can understand but for an adult its just ridiculous!

      4. It’s better (for the developers) to show simply a sign stating that you are good at following “to do lists” rather than that having the pain of create content (costumes, skins, new modes, new weapons, new characters…) to unlock when the players achieve something as a reward…

It’s how I see achievements, since they were implemented, the unlockable quality and quantity suddenly dropped and most of them were transformed into paid DLC…

    2. i dont care about achievements i coudlnt care less but epic store is so barebones it cant even be called a store. Its a fortnite launcher.

  2. OH MY GOD THEY MADE ME CLICK 2 MORE CLICKS TO PLAY METRO !!! REEE BOYCOTT PIRATE
did this generation taht cries about everything go through the old era where it took you lots of time to install and play a game ?

    1. yeah but the game was in a disk and it run on your pc without 20 programs on top of it and having to make multiple accounts.

    2. Go play in Traffic. You are just one of those people that are against anyone not wanting to bend over like you do. have some respect for other people concern man. You dismissive Pr*ck. But i’m serious about that Traffic thing though.

  3. Lol, you know you f*cked up when all discussion of your game is about the anti consumer move you pulled off weeks before launch. I’ll still but the game, only it’ll be at least a year from now at a discounted price. And I was very likely to have bought it day 1 otherwise.

    1. True. There’s a lot of sleaziness in our hobby unfortunately. Mostly from Publishers but also from hardware companies.

If I didn’t enjoy gaming so much I would have moved on to something else years ago.

      1. That’s my current ongoing problem for the last 3 years. I’ve fallen out of love with gaming because I’ve been fighting off Denuvo, Always-Online, not actually owning my games, Microtransactions and political agendas in My God Damn Hobby. It just got taxing and very draining. I just don’t enjoy games anymore.

  4. Guys, you are not helping. You do realize that the publishers will just blame piracy and the Metro series may leave the PC platform altogether in the future and become a console-exclusive, right? Is that really what you guys want just because you could not be bothered to go through two additional clicks to launch the game? If you pirate it, how would the Steam features that you are crying for be of any use since there is no Steam in a pirated copy?

    1. yup, but they wont blame the stupid decisions they making.

Still, 4A is small, they deserve to get more money for their game by using epic games store, but its such a crappy store.

      1. Well 4A got paid already. Its the publishers time to get paid. Only think the developer can get at this point is bonuses for high metacritic scores. But I understand what you mean.

    2. So what should we do ? Buy the game regardless of their stupid decisions ? That is exatcly the type of mindset that made EA and Bethesda become what they are today.
Also it’s not like they don’t already do that when sales fail to reach their expectations, either because the product is sub-par at best or ridiculous expectations.

    3. People b*tched to hell and back about steam being a monopoly in gaming, and now another store has come along that could actually be as big as Steam at some point, and people are b*tching about that too because they’re using their money to get games on it. No matter what happens, people aren’t happy about it. Every single game that comes out, there is a b^tch fest about it. There is a controversy about the smallest most childish nonsense.

      There is no pleasing them.

I bought the game on Steam while I still had the chance, and I would have bought it on Epic Game Store if I didn’t purchase it on steam. I’m sick of the controversy surrounding games, I just play games to have fun and escape life for a few moments.

      1. The reason why people are not happy with Metro Exodus in this situation as the bait’n’switch practice which the publisher exercised in that it first garnered a ton of preorders on Steam and then moved the game to another inferior platform which lacks default possibilities such as user reviews and easy refunding not to mention the need to install another launcher which will bombard you with stupid Fortnite ads and popups trying to sway you into installing that drivel.

P.S. If you feel righteous cancel you Steam preorder and buy it on Epic Game Store, after all it’s $10 less there and you say that you don’t mind it. So what’s stopping you from showing all these restless haters the way?

        1. I don’t need to be righteous with this purchase, and I have zero to prove to infantile horses*t on any side. I started that I play video games to have fun, the original point of them, and do not care about the bullshit controversy surrounding them. I would use any launcher to buy any game, on Steam or not if the circumstances have the game off it.

Going for whatever is most convenient first, which happens to be Steam this time, is what I will always do.

In the case of say Rebel Galaxy which Epic got to be exclusive last year? I’ll be getting that or any other game instead of waiting to play it when it’s on steam on Epic Launcher.

Rage 2? Buying it on Bethesda Launcher. Doom Eternal? Bethesda if it releases on that. Doesn’t matter to me, as the OP said, it’s a matter of two clicks.

Been doing it through Uplay games on Steam for years now.

        2. Dont care whichever it goes, i paid 46$ on cdkeys.com and they will deliver whichever cdkey is relevant.
BUT if i would of ordered directly, I rather pay 50$ on Epic then 78USD [yes that the price for brand new AAA game in my region] on STEAM.
F STEAM, i quit buying games there when they moved to regional pricing.

    4. Publishers that care about both the customers’ perception AND the game are successful on the PC even without DRM. Witcher 3 proved that. Deep Silver and THQ Nordic care about neither. I don’t pirate but I won’t buy this game either.

    5. You have Stockholm Syndrome and you want us to join you. You were the type of slaves back in the day that would try to convince the rest why they shouldn’t go through with their elaborate escape plan. You were that guy, “Jebediah, I’s No thinks we shouldz be doin Dis. Cuz fo’ realz, what massah gow’ne thinks?….” <— ? that was you. I don't pirate games cause I don't computer herpes. The same way goes for why I don't play DRM infested Games either. With or without you, im not staying on the Plantation bro.

      1. You are talking about YOURSELF, you are slave to Steam and have
Stockholm Syndrome, so afraid to open the window and find greener pastures.

        1. Hey dummy this isn’t a ZERO-sum game. When have you once seen me or read anything I days that remotely showed me defending steam? You are that useful idiot the KGB use to talk about. Epic Store is not greener pastures. I once thought it could have been, then I realize it’s just one prison industrial complex for the next. So hush your mouth you petulant child, your know not what your are speaking about. They are all the Same rubbish, Steam, Uplay, Origns & Now The Epic Store. Since as I’m all about ownership I’m for neither of these you Dummy.

          1. You have poor comprehension skills. You hear what you want to hear so you can have something to argue about. You’re just a big Dummy. Learn how to comprehend what you read boy.

          2. You confused me with yourself, thats what you did with your rant about slaves, stockholm syndrome and blah blah blah.

You make no sense and have no point, you are tilting at windmills.
Change your user name to Don Quixote!

As far as EPIC store goes, I dont know but 50$ for AAA is 10$ less then 60$ and 28$ less then Steam Idiotic regional locked price.
Bunch of countries pay over 70USD for new releases up to 78$
so EPIC store is a blessing, even for NA region, because 10$ less means you you already have 10$ for your next game.

    1. I read about that but really the bulk of the money for those 2 games has already been made so I doubt it will hurt the Publisher very much financially.

Also, it’s stunts like these that pretty much render user feedback on sites like Steam and Metacritic useless imo.

  5. Epic new Metro Exodus trailer shows 6 Epic minutes of Epic gameplay footage, welcoming newcomers to its Epic world.

    fify

  6. Can’t wait to see the sales numbers of this and if they’re low don’t be surprised, but no doubt the publishers will spin it. Such a shame because it looks really good, people should reject this anti consumer move on principle, made even worse by taking it off Steam a few weeks before launch. The publisher obviously didn’t give a sh*t about the customer but cared more about their 13% plus Epic’s wad of cash.

    1. Will they even show the sales numbers?. Blizz stopped sharing WoW sub counts when investors got angry at the low count. In fact, I don’t think I’ve seen any publisher/AAA studio sharing bad data, only opting for good data to brag about. That’s more or less why I liked Steam spy, because we had access to sales data, even if it was negative.

        1. I mean, like another user pointed out, the guy behind Steam spy showed Steam’s data, but I highly doubt the guy will do the same for the very company he works for, which in all honestly is scummy and should be illegal for what they did against Steam, but not against the company he works for.

      1. SteamSpy creator helped with the development of the Epic Store, but I’m sure we won’t get an Epic Spy

        1. Of course they won’t. The guy somehow managed to get away with what he did against Steam, but I highly doubt he would publicly issue sales data like he did for Steam. I’m surprised Steam hasn’t sued Epic for the guy working with Epic and pulling that.

    2. doesnt matter how the publishers will spin it, what matters if that the studio could downsize or close down.

  7. Many people will likely now pirate this game as a one-fingered salute to THQ Nordic due to the Epic Store disgrace and their feeble buck-passing Twitter response!

  8. The only thing stopping me from buying it day 1 is denuvo…epic store exclusivity is not a big deal as everyone says it is.
Yes its stupid but its not like it wont release on pc it just a launcher everyone loves to hate.

    1. Ahaha same. I will buy the game because pirate life is not for me, but also will wait for steam release. And for extra i will get patched version already. I buy games 1-2 years later anyways way behind with gaming, just started Witcher 3 few weeks back for example 🙂

    1. Yikes ? I’m reading through all those tweets and it’s about to get real nasty what they’ve done. I don’t know if they thought this through at all.

    1. Wait isn’t this game meant for children i for one have no interest for it. You’re right its has always been a console release and i never had a chance to try it out, but even then it has never been a game that i have missed. Adventures with mickey and goofy plz next i am not a six year old. I spend more crying over RDR2 and Horizons Zero Dawn.

  9. We are GAMERS! We are the most OPPRESSED group on earth! HOW DAAAAARE there be compition in MY gaming space! REVIEW BOMB TIME!
