    1. Because it has a Black protagonist? If the story calls for it, I see no problem tbh. Granted, I too was expecting a continuation with an Italian-American character, but it looks a fun game nevertheless, so I’ll give it a shot.

      1. Pretty much this. If the story and gameplay are on point I don’t see a problem with having a black protagonist. Why are people getting upset over that I will never know.

        1. Maybe because MAFIA was a series set around an Italian mafia setting and storyline and people are disappointed that that’s no longer the case?

          1. But we already got two games based around that period. The central premise of the game is still about Italian mafia only the protagonist is different.

          2. “But we already got two games based around that period.” Then why name it Mafia 3? Consumers of Mafia 1 & 2 logically expect a similar flavor in another entry in the franchise.

And I’m not talking about periods, Mafia 1 and 2 are set in different periods (1930s vs late 40s – early 50s) but the theme is the same: Italian Mafia in America.

It just doesn’t fit, how the hell did a black guy got made into the Italian mafia?? It doesn’t make sense, it’s like casting a white dude in the leading role of Malcom X: just plain retarded.

          3. Right, he doesn’t get accepted into the Cosa Nostra (thankfully!), he’s just out to destroy them…

So the franchise seems to have shifted from historically epic mob drama to B-grade blaxploitation revenge flick.

          4. I for one i am excited that the game is now open world and not utterly scripted and the combat is not trash.

      1. Meh, the San Francisco devs will force “racism” in every corner of the story, you can already see it popping up in 2 districts in this trailer.

      2. Statistics show that all the terrorism in this country is committed by white boys… I mean “loners with a mental illness”

    2. Well the main protagonist is never working murdering criminal. It makes sense he is black. He dindu nufin.

  1. Mafia II took a visual leap. compared to that this one is not looking that impressive. but the concept is looking really good.

  2. I like how pig skin peckerwoods are crying about a black character. “Wahhhh. Make america white again!!! Diversity = white genocide!!!!”

White SUICIDE = white genocide. White males commit 70% of the 42,000 annual suicides in this country. Maybe whites should go back to the caucasus mountains and make that white again.

      1. i clicked all their names they all comment racist stuff about whites and post in a hip hop sites, either trolls or bots.

          1. The Armenian Mob = The American-Italian Mob (Costa Nostra) = Mexican Cartels = Colombian Cartels = Russian Mafia = Italian Mafia = Black Power = Chinese Triads = Japanese Yakuza = etc. = etc. = etc.?

            Yeah……. no.

Put it to you another way – why do Prison Movies play the “race” factor so much? Because it matters.
