Here is the first official gameplay trailer for Godfall

Gearbox and Counterplay Games have released the first official gameplay trailer for Godfall. This trailer will give you a glimpse at the game’s graphics, as well as its combat and gameplay mechanics.

Godfall is a third-person fantasy action RPG that focuses on melee combat. The game targets a Holiday 2020 release, and will be timed-exclusive on Epic Games Store. According to Gearbox, the game will come out on other stores twelve months after its EGS release.

In the past, I had described Godfall as a Souls-like game. However, this official gameplay trailer showcases a more fast-paced combat system. Thus, we can now safely say that it does not feel like a Dark Souls game.

But anyway, enjoy the following gameplay trailer and stay tuned for more!

  1. From the moment they revealed this game it was pretty obvious it would be one of those typical console launch titles.

    1. so decent game with good visuals that not gonna be beaten until very end of generation? like we saw with ps4 and killzone, infamous and so on.

  2. Great selection of music for a fantasy themed RPG trailer. What degree of moron was put in charge of this?

    1. well its gearbox publishing so what you expect? To be honest i havent seen a good trailer in a long time. Its like all the good marketing people are gone.

      1. love or hate gearbox but borderlands always had good trailer music and intro song. Also since when publisher decides music in trailer? Its developers fault.

        1. the pr department decides which is usually run by the publisher since they are doing the marketing massively, at least this is how ea did it.

  3. What happened to the ray-traced reflections? Mediocre screen-space stuff in this video. The first showing had basically full mirror floors that reflected everything on top of it flawlessly with nothing missing at the edges of the screen or overlapping objects not reflecting right. It had to be ray-traced. Now this trailer has the standard little puddles and reflections fade out completely at the edges of the screen. All the materials look less convincing as well which is consistent with going from ray-traced reflections back to current-gen rendering. HUGE DOWNGRADE and the game’s not even in close to release yet. I guess it’s not made for next-gen after all and they just faked it for a trailer.

    1. Last time they show game on Nvidia RTX hardware (dedicated RT cores). This time they show game on PS5. You can run raytracing on any GPU like RTX 1070 but without dedicated RT cores you need use generic shaders as compute shaders.

I think that game on PC will look like on previous trailer

      1. PS5 supports ray tracing. I bet RT effect are severely limited due to performance on both consoles and PC.

  4. Not looking like another dark souls clone -> little bit interested,
Epic store exclusive -> nvm call me again in a year.

    1. steam pays you guys for spamming that everywhere? I, like most ppl on earth don’t give a damn on what shop its sold, I play games not stores. Maybe you ppl should too, its much more fun then hating something just because it is successful in destroying stems monopoly.

  5. Im interested in game because gameplay looks like solid DS style game and thats what i love but that music destroyed everything. Worst trailer and music in recent history.
