Destiny 2 feature 2

Here is Destiny 2 running in 4K with 60fps on NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX [Update: New video with mouse & keyboard]

NVIDIA has released a new video, showing the PC version of Destiny 2 running in 4K with 60fps on the GeForce GTX. NVIDIA has not determined the settings that were used, however we suspect that the green team used the Medium or High presets.

As it was revealed at this year’s E3, Xbox One X will run the game at 30fps, meaning that the only platform capable of offering 60fps in Destiny 2 will be the PC.

Destiny 2 on the PC will support 4K resolutions (3820×2160), uncapped framerates, mouse and keyboard with custom key mapping, text chat, adjustable Field of View, detailed PC settings screen and 21:9 monitors.

Destiny 2 is coming to the PC on October 24th.

Enjoy!

    1. Is that supposed to be an insult? Superior performance is an insult?

Must be console gamer logic because that makes no g#dd#mn sense.

  1. Meh, 60 fps is great but he’s still playing on a controller with a console FOV. Plus it’s Destiny so who the f*ck cares?

      1. You deserved to get butt f*cked by Bobby Kotick’s dirty toilet plunger if you’re honestly excited for this P2P, micro transaction ridden cancer of a game.

          1. Eh, it’s your money, you’re free to support whatever trash you want with it.

      1. HAHAHAHA…. good one…. You’re not serious are you? Are you really one of the last idiots standing on that hill? Beautiful… an almost extinct peasant.

        1. All that effort and huge expense poured in to optimising platform-exclusive games on consoles and yet Uncharted 4 managed a lowly targeted 30fps frame-rate and is so well optimised that it dips to 25fps. Then there’s Bloodborne with its chronic frame-pacing problem that still remains unfixed. The list of failings present in these ‘optimised’ console exclusives is pretty much endless.

Let’s not entertain this fallacy that console exclusives are like they were in olden days of Mega Drive, SNES and the like when devs coded for console hardware largely comprising of custom chips. Those days are long gone. Consoles of today are X86-based weak gaming PCs with little, basically nothing, in the way of custom chips to optimise games for. Most games, even the exclusives, use middleware so are less dependent on the optimisation coding skills of devs than at any time in the past. ‘Console exclusive’ today essentially means developing a game on a PC-based devkit to be played on a PC of one fixed spec’ that happens to be called a console.

In addition to all of that, there’s the matter of there being so very few console exclusives nowadays relative to past console generations. Numerous franchises that in past generations were exclusive to one console are now available on both main consoles and usually on PC because, unless bankrolled by Sony or Microsoft, it’s no longer financially viable in most instances to sell games on only one console. Nintendo excepted.

Point being, console fanboys love to overstate the importance of console exclusives but the reality is that there are so few of them around these days. Nintendo excepted. Also, many of them tend to be the usual rinse and repeat third-person action adventures with stealth elements (invariably all running at a dire, sorry, ‘highly optimised’ 30fps).

          1. So you’re honestly claiming that console exclusive games are better than multi-platform games in “every other area” including “story, content (and) writing”? Seriously?

Before you answer, no, it’s not a rational defence to cherry-pick a tiny handful of the very best console exclusives across all console platforms dating back to the 1980s. Pick one current-gen console, list all of its genuinely exclusive games and then try to argue your point as referenced in my above paragraph.

Those “one of a kind experiences” you refer to aren’t exclusive to consoles, by the way. There are more such experiences available on PC and even on mobile than there are on any single console of today. Especially so the consoles of today relative to some of the great consoles of yesteryear. I’m not sure I’d class the likes of the Uncharted franchise as being what you term an “incredible one-of-a-kind experience” but each to their own.

“I wish Consoles were better, I wish we could play those games on PC”
Well, let’s consider that statements for a moment:

            – the only worthwhile game for Nintendo Switch is unofficially on PC via Cemu where it runs at a vastly improved resolution and, with continued optimisation, massively superior frame-rate

            – pretty much all Microsoft Studios games on the Xbone range of consoles are or will be on PC thanks to Microsoft itself

            – Sony have confirmed that PS4 games will soon be on PC via PlayStation Now along with the existing +400 PS3 games already on there

          2. Those games end up on PC. Phil Spencer said that there will most likely be emulators of Xbox for PC (by Microsoft). And you can play a large library of Playstation’s “exclusives” with Playstation Now. Both services by the original providers of the consoles.
What you wished is in a large scale already a reality.

And it is only getting better for PC.

          3. You seem to be confusing Sony having (read: mainly in the past tense) high quality first party studios with “exclusive = higher quality end product.”

Which, while it is true that once IPs go multi-platform you can note a distinct drop in quality in favour of mainstream pandering, that more than not applies to formerly PC-First IPs going multi-platform, &/or IPs that went multi-platform 10+ years ago, when the X360 & PS3 first launched, & the “PC Gaming Is Dead” propaganda machine first started up.

Other than that, IP degradation is really just console IPs overwhelmingly degrading themselves for no other reason than because their owners had the developers take the IP in question into a new direction (ex. Metroid, Sonic, Mario, Zelda, etc.), or because the IP overstayed its welcome (ex. Gears of War, Halo, Uncharted, Killzone, etc.) because the owner wanted to run it into the ground for maximum profits, instead of letting it go out on a high note & moving on to something new.

And that’s really what you seem to be forgetting; yes, Metroid is amazing, but only on a case-by-case basis. Likewise, the same applies to Zelda. InFAMOUS also drops off after the….. second game, is it? Or was it the third, I forget. Sonic used to be amazing, & then SEGA ruined it, not by taking it multi-platform, but just by being SEGA, a few years ago. Now they’re trying to turn that around, but yeah, only time will tell.

Likewise, Nintardo only just finally made a great Zelda game for the first time in I don’t even know how many years & it took this long for Square Enix to get its head out of its *ss long enough to make Final Fantasy XV, but none of these successes can be attributed to their non-multi platform development nature (yeah, FFXV is on both the PS & Xbox, I know). Rather, they exist because people removed the right heads from the right sphincters, period. Whether this will continue or not, again, only time will tell.

Alternatively, take the case of Metal Gear; Metal Gear didn’t pinnacle with MGS3 & then again (almost) with MGS5 because it remained a PlayStation-exclusive for so long, it climaxed because it had Kojima at its helm from beginning to end, guiding it & improving it with each subsequent entry (excepting MGS4, obviously). In the end, it wasn’t going multi-platform that killed MG, but rather Kojima wanting to move on, Kojami & Konami’s falling out which resulted in a rushed MGSV, a cancellation of Silent Hills, & Kojima leaving to work on Death Stranding, instead, etc.

None of these have anything to do with what platforms MG was or was not developed for &/or released on. All of this has simply to do with the human variable; Kojima was getting bored, Konami wanted more MG, Kojima didn’t, he wanted Silent Hills, Konami threw a fit, & Kojima told them to f*ck off, so they wasted his game. Boom. The end.

As such, like Bub&Bob already said, the only real advantage that a platform-exclusive has over a multi-platform is in terms of how much focus can be given to working on that one, single platform, instead of trying to pander to all 3. A PC-exclusive, for example, can create a mouse/keyboard-oriented User Interface without having to worry about how a controller would navigate it, whereas a console-exclusive can spend more time optimising for its specific hardware, though, as already pointed out, even that’s becoming relatively superfluous these days.

        2. Then you haven’t payed attention. I had Mass Effect 3 on PC, a friend of mine on Xbox 360 (he still has it…. so do I, but I’ll never install it again). PC wasn’t just better, it was a completely different game. And this is not a recent or rare thing. Lighting, decals, shadows, textures, pretty much almost every single aspect of the game is better on PC.
You have rarely seen a game fail at it. Hell, the worst case in recent history was Batman Arkham Knight, and it runs great on PC now. Does it run well on a PS4? Play it. It is insanely bad. My wife saw that game running in a PS4 and said “I have nothing to complain” about it.
And exclusives will never be matched with a PC version, so you can’t compare it. Today both consoles are excluding the other, but the PC is the least excluded platform and delivers the best quality and performance in over 99% of the cases. You’ll see us complain, but it due to the high standards. We complained with RiME, but it run far better than any console, that is just way too low of a standard for us.

          1. “Batman Arkham Knight, and it runs great on PC now.”

Exaggeration. It still has memory leaks, stutters, crashes, etc. etc. etc. but yeah, it is at the very least playable, if nothing else.

            Otherwise, agreed.

          2. Not for me. I have a RX480 and I don’t have those issues. Except for the crashes, but I use the crack to avoid it (I own the full game).

          3. It was a reply to: “Console exclusives are developed for one platform, and have a lot more effort and dedication put in to them than pretty much all and any multiplatform game on the market right now. Even games which have the most dedication put in to them, like The Witcher 3. Can’t beat the detail provided by an exclusive in a vast majority of cases.”

Basically addressing the concept that multi platform games are worst in general when it is not the case. They’re worst on consoles. On PC, The Witcher 3 looks amazing…..and that is before putting some great mods in it.
And you can’t really compare how those games would be improved by PC, so supporting those platforms end up hindering my experience.
The demand of the consumer forces change in these companies, and if enough effort is put into it, we will gain from it.
And ultimately you’re not right when you say that those games are amazing experiences. Some are good, most are bad. I bought a PS3 for The God of War 3 and I hated the game. Kratos did nothing except kill everything for no valid reason. It was a gore fest with nothing driving it. And from a technical stand point it seemed ok, but if you looked into it you would see that it was bare, no decals, simplistic shadows, no dynamic light of any sort, it choked some times and even the textures were a hit and miss. And that was the system seller, it was all downhill from there. It is all smoke and mirrors, pretending it is good, but being held back by technical issues. And for what? To sell a system that will never deliver better than that experience? A system that held gaming back to sell the inferior versions of any multi-platform game? No, thank you. But by all means, keep telling yourself that Uncharted is on par with The Witcher because that says nothing of those games, it says a lot of you (I know you did not make this direct comparison, but you did generalize it).

        3. consoles have true 4k while PC never had real 4k, consoles are smoother and have better frame rate, you never played on consoles, if you did you’d know 30fps on consoles is much more smoother than fake frame rates on PC

          1. Nah man, (most) autistic people have a highly functioning brain. You’re just becoming a failure. (Insert a “Kappa” here)

    1. “The only reason you could possibly be so angry at them, is if you’re that bad that you’re afraid they’ll actually beat you with your “superior” peripherals, because you think “Better” products, make you a better player.”

      LOL.

    2. My type of mind? What type? The non casual, anti console type? Pretty sure that’s you who need to set wake up here.

      1. You’re not “non-casual” or “anti-console” you’re close minded and opinionated. It’s very different.

          1. I enjoy both. I own consoles, PCs, handhelds. I’m a gamer. I like games. That’s being open minded. That’s enjoying things for what they are. You’re just sour, negative, and honestly, a bit volatile.

          2. That’s being casual, neutral, the exact thing videogames industry needs less, if you are a true gamer, you play on PC, because that’s the real platform, for everything.

          3. O.K. I’m going to assume you’re trolling here. I’m going to leave you be. Good luck with all that.

          4. O.K. I’m not trolling anybody, i’m just talking straight truth, which most of you casuals don’t understand and dislike.

    3. Why do you care what other people are doing? Let people enjoy themselves. Do you walk up to other tables at restaurants and belittle people for ordering something you don’t like?
Just because you like something, doesn’t make the other choices wrong. That’s a very small way of looking at the world.

      1. But you already do what you want, it’s not like i’m questioning that.
I don’t want my favourite platform to transform into those useless fukboxes of yours, that’s why i’m so salty, especially towards people being so passive aggressive, because using controller on a pc to play shooters is being passive aggressive, you’re ruining the entire platform just because of your habits, videogames are for people who care, and who understand it, not for everyone, and that’s what i’m fighting.

        1. What? How is using a controller passive aggressive? Passive aggressive is taking action by not doing anything.
No one is “ruining” anything. People are just trying to have fun.
And, I highly disagree. Gaming IS for EVERYONE. Why should certain people not be allowed to play games simply because they play differently? Is this some weird digital for of racism/discrimination or something? That’s the vibe I’m getting from you.

          1. Get whatever vibe you want, videogames were born for a tiny group of people, that’s why once games were overall better, because people who understood them and appreciated the right things of them were enthusiasts, and cared about games. This transformed into something accessible to anyone, and that’s what ruined it, and it happens on cinema also, on music, the more people who possibly don’t understand them starts using them, the worse it gets, it’s just always happened, and will keep happening if someone doesn’t start to fight this thinking.

    4. I play on PC with a controller, and i do so on BF1. My infantry K/D is 2.24 currently. I dare you to do better, even with a KB&M.

  2. The main value of Destiny 2 being on PC as far as I’m concerned will be amusement provided by the bitter console fanboys lumbered with their ‘cinematic’ 30fps (at best) FPS.

  3. note they didnt say what gtx card was in it.for 4k/60fps most likely a gtx 1080 ti which most pc gamers wont have.most dont even have a 1070,,,lol.

most of you will not be playing in 4k/60fps…lol but on xbox one x you will be playing in native 4k.

          1. there are no 4k/60fps labtops…lol.rvrn if you went with the destop add on for a lab top it wtill would run 4k/60 ultra.

            it was a pc.

          2. I’m pretty sure there’s some 1080ti laptops around 2000.. Can’t remember,. honestly

    1. Link proof of Destiny being a “True” 4K game on the Xblower, or find a corner to curl up & die in.

        1. I once wore a bacon helmet into a forest fire and came out of it unscathed, except for my clothes melted and I suffered third-degree burns over 85% of my body. But the bacon helmet smelled delicious.

  4. The graphics for this look amazing and if the story is actually on point and the game isn’t just a mindless grindfest, I may actually be interested in getting this.

  5. WTF is your problem? Me and many others play fps games with a
controller. And there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

    1. You and many others are a bunch of noobs, casual gamers. And there is something i can do about it, which is insulting you and people like you whenever i get the chance.

        1. Believe me, console casuals, and fake pc players’s tears are soooo sweet to me, you can’t imagine.

          1. How pathetic. It’s incredibly sad that you’re fuelled by such immaturity. How old are you? 14? Don’t even answer that. I’m going to take comfort in calling you a pathetic and immature. And I’m going to block you so I don’t have to see what you respond with.

            Bye!

  6. Except when shooters are made for console and brought to PC. Like Destiny, which was a console games and built around a controller.

    1. Games made on console and brought to pc, this has to end, because it’s another cancer of videogames industry, and keep in mind that aside from a few games, almost anything is made for consoles, especially fps, the fact that they’re released only on console/s is just a matter of profit, consoles are the inferior platforms for casual gamers, and nothing console related is better than anything pc related, not even the tiniest thing, a screw for example.

      1. A FPS can’t be made for console, because it’d mean to play with a controller, and the controller isn’t something anyone should play a FPS game with, so it’s has everything to do with what you said, FPS games are not for consoles, hence not to play with controllers.

        1. You say this like most FPS games don’t launch on consoles or something.
FPS are and will always be made for consoles as that’s where the sales are. You’re (we?) are the minority here. Most people don’t care about or want KBM controls.

          1. FPS aren’t meant for consoles in mechanical terms, they’re just meant for consoles in economical terms

          2. What about console exclusive FPS? How are they not meant for a console when that’s the only thing they’re made for?

          3. Are you reading what i write, or are you in a spree of rage posts? Exclusives are part of economical terms, not mechanical.

          4. I’m reading what you write, but it’s mostly nonsense. Where is the anger? I’m quite chill right now.
Exactly. Not mechanical. No particular hardware needed.

          5. Do you even know what’s mechanical terms when talking about videogames, or? Wait, that does sound so rhetoric, you’re a casual, how could you possibly know that.

          6. “Most people don’t care about or want KBM controls.”

“Most people” out of everyone who buys the game, or “most people” out of everyone who buys it on PC? Because one of those two is bullsh*t, whereas the other one is true, yeah, sure, so what?

            Right, I’m just sticking this here, then;

TPS & FPS aren’t the same thing. They’re designed differently & as such the final outcome is different, both on controllers & on m/k. TPSs usually come with far higher levels of aim assist than an FPS, in my experience, for example.

Regardless, yes, some FPSs are made for consoles & as such for controllers, so-the-f*ck-what? How exactly do people come to the conclusion that they won’t play better, smoother, etc. with m/k rather than controller? You can’t compare aiming with a controller to aiming with a mouse, that’s been proven, time & time again.

The only way to balance the two input methods would be if the developers programmed in limitations to slow down the mouse but even then we’d still have at least a slight advantage over controllers. Regardless, the PC community would never tolerate these restrictions which is why shoddy developers are so often called out for bad m/k implementations & it’s also why cross-platform is nigh unpopular. Nobody wants to knowingly play MP with a bunch of controller kiddies, it’s a bad joke.

How they’re “meant to be played” means nothing when you’re talking about console exclusives (GoW, Uncharted, Destiny) since there’s only one platform with the m/k as their primary input method, & these games aren’t intended to reach it (well, weren’t, rather, as GoW 4 & Destiny 2 did/are). As for Call of Duty; sure, it’s designed around consoles & then ported over to the PC, so-the-f*ck what? Irregardless of how CoD was originally designed, if you’re doing CoD MP on the PC with a controller, you’re an idiot & you should feel bad, period.

I mean, come on, you’re acting like developers actually believe most of their PC fanbase is actually going to play this sh*t on a f*cking controller ffs, which is just beyond mind-f*cking absurd. Like, okay, sure, if you want to play the campaign on a controller, that’s your business. Hell, even I’ve been so bored I’ve just sat back & trolled around in a campaign mode for an FPS or two a couple of times, sure, I’ll admit to that, so what? Bringing a controller to serious play, like a high-end difficulty clear, or a round of MP or whatnot is purposefully crippling your gameplay for no reason other than “I want to.”

    1. Imagine my face contorted into an expression of absolute shock & awe at the fact that FFXV is coming to PC 😛

  7. Boring – Check!
    Narrow FOV – Check!
    Overexaggerated – Check!
    Uninspiring – Check!
    Unoriginal – Check!
    Worthless A.I – Check!
    Unchallenging – Check!
COD Future Warfare with MOBA elements – Check!
    Plastic – Check!

Thanks but no thanks! Console peasants can have this for themselves…

  8. Many shooters actually ARE meant to be played with controllers. Destiny, Gears of War, Uncharted, Call of Duty, and many more are designed entirely around the fact that most (console gamers are the majority) will be using a game pad.
KBM is nice, but many games play just fine with a game pad.

    1. Shooters on consoles are an oxymoron, and whoever affirms differently just doesn’t know what’s he talking about. Uncharted and GOW are not shooters, most likely adventure games, i’m talking about FPS, not just some random game like destiny, which will surely play far better on mouse+kb, instead of fkin controllers

      1. That’s not an oxymoron. I think what you’re looking for is “mutually exclusive”, but either way it’s wrong.
Black was only on console. Desitny was only on console. Both FPS by any definition.
I’m not disagreeing that they won’t be better with KBM, they certainly will (for those who like KBM). I’m just saying it’s not necessary to enjoy the game.

  9. So are we saying that Destiny 2 can run 60fps but Bungie is just holding back consoles…. or even worse Bungie is doing console parity and holding back the Xbox One X. I was planning on buying Anthem anyway but if they are holding back the Xbox One X there is nothing will get me to buy this game. We have enough issues in the gaming industry without shady practices like console parity.

  10. oooo, so you need only to press “W” and right click? good, ill buy it coz im missing “T” , “E”, “C”, letters at keyboard.

  11. Wow their game is really impressive! Great atmosphere and FX!
Must have put quite a bit of money into it.

  12. Holy Lord, watching them in succession, those 2 videos are like watching a Lion hunt after seeing it’s newborn cub stumbling over it’s own tail.

  13. 4K youtube = worse than 1080p, so idk why people like to call out 4K so much xD

Upload that **** to vimeo or create mirror nvidia you greedy scurbs

  14. Did you make the right choice. A fair amount of people ask that question on PC. It’s really common.

No one likes to regret things, no one likes to let things happen and feel like they made the wrong choice.

Especially when it comes to money.

Okay, so sure. In just a year. Hardware has become significantly more powerful allowing better options.

And when you’re thinking about it you’re thinking “Oh god, I wish I had waited, I could of something so much better for nearon the same price I paid less than 12 months ago”, It makes you feel awkward at first.

But if you take a step back and think about the fact that the longer you wait, even more powerful hardware will come out.

So when Volta comes out, people might feel bad that they didn’t wait another 18 months after buying the 1080Ti or Titan Xp, to get the 1180, and then a year after that, people will be annoyed they didn’t wait for the 1180Ti.And Titan XV. Or whatever.

But that’s fine. If you’re okay with what you have now, it’s fine if you feel you made the wrong choice. You can upgrade at any point. And the longer you wait, you benefit more. If you wait for Volta, for instance. And that 4K144Hz monitor to come out. You’ll have benefitted more.

It’s fine skipping a generation. Your hardware will last.

Your 970 still does really good even in 2017 at 1440p, in a lot of games. So it’s fine to keep what you have now. Because it will stay pay off, the longer you wait.

    1. ?ot only it does very good on 1440p but so far the only games that it cant run at max settings 1440p are those wtih bad optimizations like deus ex mankind dvided and quantum break. Yes that i will keep it until 8k gpu are out because 1440p compared to 4k not much of a difference in graphics. Unless of course gtx 970 burns which in this case i wil be forced to change it.

  15. The PC platform being build around “choice” is something that came out in the latest years, with the cancer spread by console, and console users moving to PC, and FPS must be played with mouse+keyboard, it’s almost mathematics.

  16. There’s so much that is wrong , confused and/or factually incorrect in that essay of a comment that I simply don’t have the time to be addressing it all. Good day to you.

        1. the only single card that can do 4k/60fps ultra is a 1080 ti.the gtx 1060 mite do 4k/30 on high settings maybe.

you need to look up some bench marks.

          1. forza was running at 4k/60fps ultra pc settings with room to spare but that is forza.

  17. No, I’m not. Check your reading comprehension because it evidently needs some attention.

I won’t be reading any more of your latest essay beyond that opening line.
