Silent Hill 2 Remake official screenshots-2

Here are 27 minutes of gameplay from Silent Hill 2 Remake

VGC has shared a video, showcasing 27 minutes of uninterrupted gameplay footage from Silent Hill 2 Remake. These are the first 27 minutes of the game, so avoid them if you don’t want to experience the game for yourselves. Additionally, Konami shared the official story trailer for Silent Hill 2 Remake, which you can also find below.

Silent Hill 2 Remake will allow players to experience a master-class in psychological horror on the latest hardware with chilling visuals and visceral sounds. The devs have confirmed that it will support Ray Tracing and other cutting-edge technical enhancements. Plus, you can expect new immersive soundscapes.

The remake will feature larger environments than the original title. As such, players will explore locations and buildings that were once inaccessible. Moreover, Bloober Team has added some new areas to the game.

Silent Hill 2 Remake will also have an updated combat system. Players will be able to avoid attacks with carefully timed dodges, aim down sights, and more, making monster encounters more engaging and nerve-wracking than ever.

Now as I’ve already said, Silent Hill 2 Remake will be using Unreal Engine 5. In October 2022, Bloober Team also shared its initial PC system requirements. According to them, an NVIDIA RTX2080 would be able to run it at 1080p/High/30fps. Since those PC specs were posted two years ago, I’m curious to see whether Konami will update them. For the time being, Steam still lists the same PC requirements.

Konami will release Silent Hill 2 Remake on October 8th.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. Im playing the original game on PCSX2 at 480i 120hz on my crt monitor , software render.

Absolutely stunning game, this remake is going to be atrocious.

    1. It got me thinking, does the software renderer in PCSX2 work with lossless scaling fg? I don't see why it shouldn't.

      1. Yes because its the most accurate way to run the game, it's going to have the least graphical glitches and the most stable framerate, besides i dont benefit much from higher resolution rendering because im on a CRT Monitor so the original resolution in which the game was intented to be played at (480i) looks AMAZING on my monitor.

the only issue is that annoying flashlight glitch.

    2. I still have old CRT for my PSX / PS2 / xbox games, but since I started using CRT phosphor masks I no longer feel the need to play on real CRT. My SD CRT blurs the 480i image too much, while on PC I can recreate PVM look, so all PS2 games look sharper and more detailed at the same 480i. It took me some time to setup emulator and shader settings, but now I'm happy with results.

I think PS2 games look the best at 480i/p because at higher resolutions imperfections (low poly models, low resolution textures) are more noticeable.

        1. Reshade with guestadvancedhd crt shaders. This shader has many parameters. I recommend "8" Sony aperture grille mask. I also adjust resolution and gamma settings.

In the PCSX2 video settings, you also need to select Bilinear Sharp + Integer upscaling, as sharp pixels look much better when using CRT masks.

  2. One of the best games ever made. This remake, is worth building a gaming rig for – Just Alone!

This will be pure frikking magic!
Never been so happy, since first hearing of this and all other SH games, that will come!

  3. lol is that the cowadoody health border?
This looks like they turned it into every generic moviegame since TLoU.

  4. Looks like a nice remake def check it out, but those of us who are big fans of this game since ps2 can't help but see the differences from the original. I didn't see any of the other characters in there, would have been nice to see how they are remodeled vs the originals. The original james was more normal looking not so gaunt and the original voice should have been respected also imo, at this point they could have just AI'd the new lines paid the original VO actor for it. Who knows what they've done to the story and details. I replayed this earlier this year with the EE add on and it was great.

  5. The Good:
    – Fog looks amazing.
    – Expanded levels.
    – The environments and atmosphere.
    – Ambients ripped from the original.
    – Meele combat looks fine.
    – Exploration and puzzles.
    – Eddy looks good.

    The Bad:
    – Pistol sound is pathetic.
    – They fu@ked up the siren sound.
    – Voice acting is off compared to original.
    – Maria got nerfed and censored.
    – Pyramid Head monster should be taller.
    – overdramatized cut-scenes compared to original.

It's not Japanese horror any more but at least it looks better than all Silent Hill games past SH4.

  6. This looks like garbage, the animations still look like they're being done by some random student team and the character models still look like aliexpress bootlegs. Combat and controls also look like they've been resident evil-ified (changed to match current TPS designs, ignoring that they were done that way on purpose).

    1. If this look like garbage i guess Golum, king kong and redfall are looking, how?
Bro set your words better and if you think you can do better, study design, animation, practice, become an intern, spend 4 years in a company, get promoted, become lead designer or animator and lastly show the world how is done.
Until then, keep being an ofended sheep that likes to complain.
Remember Unreal engine is free, keep practicing, actions matter most than words, words have 0 value if you have no backup for them.
One is to say Greece sucks (could be any country) and never been there and other is to actually travel there and and see it for yourself.
Watch Cycu1 comparison for Silent Hill 2 original vs this remake.
Where are the guys that say graphics don't matter?
You want something that looks glorious and next gen,try TLOUpart 1 remake,Callisto Protocol,Horizon 2 forbidden west…oh wait, those games are pathetic…so what it will be? graphics matter or not?

        1. English is not my native language,i never studied english, yet i speak better english that you is to speak mine (again assuming stuff, like everyone has to know english),also i find the original trash, old and low poly.
Even in this clip you posted, the original characters look like plastic dolls with green/white skin and no complexity,no emotion shown on thier face, nightmare face, creepypasta style.
There is a new comparison made by Cycu1 SH2 vs remake but with over the shoulder camera for SH2 original,at min 10:50 it starts the real comparison.
Again, you don't seem to realize what trash graphics really are, because from what i see the original look dated as F.
Even James running in the original is pathetic.
I never played the original SH2,because it looked like dogshit, but this remake i will.
          I play games since '96.
This remake is on par with RE4 remake as it stands from original.

          1. The original is literally more than 20 years old, of course the graphics aren't as good as something being made today, and in 20 years you'll be saying the same thing about this garbage remake. I'm going to guess you're a child given that your only defense of the game seems to be "da grafix r gud". You say "nightmare face" as if this isn't literally a horror game…
The RE4 remake was also a bunch of censored garbage with a ruined atmosphere and generic baby-fied controls.

          2. I'm 35 y old,i studied(3 years) graphic design and product design, off course i like graphics more than say gameplay(where is the case) but still my fav game of all time is ShadowMan(a 1998 game),i also love Soul Reaver 1 as i have an emulator on my phone for it,I love great story games also, like the entire Legacy Of kain series including Blood Omen 2(again with emulator on my phone),Prince of Persia the 2D platforms i don't like, yet the Ubisoft trilogy is great.
So yeah i like games in general, what i dont like i don't buy,i don't like online games, sport games like fifa or madden,i like old games and new ones, the story driven ones that have good graphics more than souls game to say the least.
Hell i didn't even purchased Black myth or stellar blade because i don't like them, that doesn't mean i now start spreading hate words about souls games,i simply don't buy them.
So even I i'm a mixbag of emotions when i game, but to say that Silent Hill 2 remake is garbage is a thing i will never do,because compared to original is better.
I also have a deviantart page, but i won't put the link here because i don't care showing off my art.
In the past i did sweetfx and reshade mods for games when they were not as popular, and based on how many downloaded them,i guess they were fine ,i was even featured here on DSOG with a custom edit mod for Enslaved Odyssey to the West. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9878cab707e77b864de5c852436341ffff988d6a34738ea0a05b37f1a0f01013.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9c5eb7fee632bb7871258864b218cfb1a7719a8291ba7d6c49a2d4ee5fdb9fe5.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/ff9a4f013ed3a99364583d544a0168deb1c0aa54d6182fab5932e1fad5403a65.jpg
PS: The exact reason i didn't like SH2 original were the plastic models look a like for characters compared to SH3.
As i said i play games since 96,from when games had GAME OVER screen,so i'm tired of souls games and gameplay focused games,i want games that look good in 2024,otherwise what's the point in upgrading GPU's?
