Microsoft has launched the first beta phase for the MP mode of Gears of War Reloaded. So, below, you can find a video showcasing 17 minutes of gameplay from the PC version. Moreover, we get to see the new PC benchmark tool in action.
Gears of War: Reloaded will have 4K assets. It will also have enhanced post-processing visual effects and improved shadows and reflections. MS also claims that there will be support for HDR, as well as for Dolby Vision & 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos. Plus, there will be zero loading screens during the campaign.
As you will see, the game’s graphics are nothing to write home about. Gears of War: Reloaded seems to use the same 3D models as the Ultimate Edition. The devs didn’t update them. Because of this, the game’s environments can look blocky, and the characters might not look as good as expected.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise. After all, I did warn you about it in my previous article. So, don’t expect this remaster to be similar to the one we got for Oblivion.
Perhaps the best thing about GoW: Reloaded is its PC features and QoL improvements. For instance, the PC version will have support for ultrawide monitors and variable refresh rates. It will also come with a benchmark mode. Plus, there will be support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 and AMD FSR 3.1 from the get-go.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition used Unreal Engine 3 and had a lot of problems on PC when it first came out. One big issue was stuttering when moving around. So, the big question now is this. Will Gears of War: Reloaded have the same problems?
According to reports, the MP Beta suffers from shader compilation stutters. I don’t know if The Coalition will add a pre-compilation step in the final version. I guess we’ll find out when the game comes out.
In terms of performance, the game at least seems to run fine with high framerates. Sadly, SASxSH4DOWZ did not share the specs of the PC they used. Nevertheless, GoW Reloaded will not require a high-end PC system. Or at least that’s the vibe I got from this video.
Microsoft will release Gears of War: Reloaded on August 26th. Moreover, it appears that the publisher is giving away the game for free to those who already own the Ultimate Edition. Or at least that’s what a lot of its owners claim. Personally, I haven’t received any key (as I own the Ultimate Edition on Microsoft Store). So, once – and if – I get it, I’ll make sure to let you know about it.

I hope they eventually get to the rest of the 360 games soon after this. It would be cooler if they allowed full 4 player co-op throughout the bunch like they did with 3. It could also just be a product of the time or my own eyes as well but I feel like a lot of the 360 era games don't benefit as much from HDR and a lot of the new monitor tech like OLEDs nearly as much because of the art direction back then. Instead of Blacks from shadows and darkness we get the dirts, browns and muds. It could also be my selection bias from only going back to play this and Halo, bioshock and that era's CODs.
Why make a video like this also looks like nothing you could not do witout reshade if thay would let you put it on i wont buy another microsoft game again until your alowed access to write to the game files
I'm a GoW fan and I'll definitely play it (wanted to replay the OG trilogy anyways) but this remaster is kinda unnecessary. Yeah I know it's mostly to get a new Audience on PS5 but why not make a great collection like Halo with all three titles plus Judgement as an add-on?
Agreed. If you want to introduce new fans to an old series or just squeeze shekels out of old fans, release a collection of the games to make it more enticing. It'd be like if they were trying to build up hype for a new Lord of the Rings movie they were doing a theatrical showing of just the first movie instead of all three.

I'm still traumatized from Space Marine Master Crafted running like it was made by orks. Minimal options and I could barely break 40fps with a 4070. This has to run better but little apprehensive on the stutterstruggle.

Never found any issues running the ultimate edition only less bloom and color corection dont look that much better thay could of done alot more like a remaster
Well for me, when It came out, it ran horribly can't utilize the cpu cores & stutters were everywhere. I canceled by gamepass sub because of this game. This version looks promising so I want to give it a go. Hopefully they bring the trilogy too.

Don't waste your money people. They were originally going to release a Gears of War collection like Master chief collection, but they swapped it because of greed. They are going to sell Gears 1, 2, and 3 separately on PSN and steam. To milk the crap out of these old games that they will not even put effort into.
