First official in-engine trailer released for STALKER 2

GSC GameWorld has released the first official in-engine trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. STALKER 2 will be using Unreal Engine 4, and promises to retain the atmosphere of the first three S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games.

The main inspiration for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is the original trilogy (Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat). Thus, STALKER 2 will be the most ambitious game from GSC GameWorld, and its main feature will be its unique atmosphere.

For the first time in the series, the Zone will be yours to explore as a post-apocalyptic open-world. Moreover, it will be one of the biggest ones to date. The game will also feature A-Life 2.0 which will control the state of the world and the behavior of characters and mutants.

As GSC GameWorld stated:

“With S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, we want every player to have a unique playthrough. It will take much more than just A-Life 2.0 to do that, as you are the author of your story. Putting aside the scale, the decisions you make will cause not only short-term outcomes, but influence the world itself. We are crafting an epic, branching story culminating in lots of different endings. You’ll have to make tough choices regularly — and be brave enough to face the consequences.”

Enjoy the trailer!

  1. I didn’t know it was beeing made for consoles too. It will be a casualized and dumbed down shooter thanks to the controller users. RIP

    1. It’s very likely not gonna be hardcore like the first, that’s for sure! Let’s hope its not a really dumbed down game that completely ruins the franchise!

  2. Hype is dead. I have a feeling that it’s going to be console focused. Original STALKER games really pushed new technologies. Shadow of Chernobyl did it with DX10, Call of Pripyat did it with DX11. but this is looks like appeal to mass casual populations on consoles.

      1. You’re not wrong, the euphoria from the announcement will fade and reality will settle in soon enough.
This will be S.T.A.L.K.E.R designed around the limitations of a console, this will be S.T.A.L.K.E.R designed around the limitations of a controller, this will be S.T.A.L.K.E.R with 30 different UI elements and no dynamic A.I or weather.

This is what they were going to do with the original STALKER 2 project back n 2010 for Xbox 360 and PS3 before it got canned.
They’re doing this purely for the money and not much else, that much is obvious, mods for Call of Pripyat will be better sequels than this.

    1. ” Original STALKER games really pushed new technologies. Shadow of Chernobyl did it with DX10, Call of Pripyat did it with DX11″

and the original stalker was a buggy mess that people couldnt run it with dynamic lighting on on most pcs without crashes so they stuck to dx9 and prpyat looked ancient at the time of release so the dx11 was pointless.

      1. Whining about bugs only makes sense when the game never gets patched, official or fan made, which wasn’t the case with Stalker. If people don’t like bugs, better go multiplatform since consoles have stricter Quality assurance for bugs.

“prpyat looked ancient at the time of release so the dx11 was pointless.”

Not really, Stalker was one of the best looking games from the era, since it’s main competition was consoles.

    2. Console focused? FYI I am PC only, but from what I have seen the upcoming XBOX will be pretty comparable to High end PCs as far as VRAM and Storage. I seriously think worry about this will be of the past. As far as game mechanics… I would think its safe to say they are going to keep it a hardcore game. I honestly don’t think any game will compare to the OG experience of SSoC. Even with all the bugs its story was original and exciting. The cats outta the bag for the story of the zone, I’m sure this will be fun. Just keep those expectations tempered, though, you can’t unsee the Wishgranter.

    1. It basically was that, you can see most if not all the areas showed are in the first game. For an UE4 game looks good, and the artstyle and atmosphere is there..we have to see gameplay tho.

      1. The problem is the source material, since they want to make another game around chernobyl and it’s outskirts, then we will get more of the same on the UE4 engine.

    1. Xbox being the first one to launch, feelz bad. If only we didn’t have just greedy stores like Steam or Epic to make this game exclusive or at very least release first on PC…

      1. Xbox and PC releases will come at the same time. They’re just showing a middle finger to sony.

          1. Xbox console launch exclusive = launching on Xbox first compared to PS. This is not related to PC. PC will get it the same time as Xbox, otherwise it would have been said that it would also not be coming to PC at the same time.

Does it say “Exclusive to Xbox Series X only”? No.

          2. I don’t know, maybe they phrased it poorly if so many people are sad thinking it will come to Xbox first then other platforms..

          3. Sony did the same phrasing but all of the games that appeared on epic and steam will release same time as ps4/ps5. Like bugsnax and whatever else they announced.

          4. They could have said simple as “this game will release first on PC and Xbox as a console exclusive”, so i have my doubts.

    2. Seems like PR team of GSC still knows how to make every possible promise under the moon and then not deliver. Remember how the first Stalker was supposed to have drivable vehicles?

  3. As a fan of STALKER, I’m not going to say that I’m not exited for this but times changed since the first game came out and the awesome time spent with all 3 games and mods…I just hope they can reproduce 100% the level of immersion that the world has/had, the atmosphere and scary bits, the dynamic world overall that was one of the things that made the game incredible up to this day.

    1. Hoping for a 100% immersion of the original is asking tooo much…I will be happy with 75% honestly….
To this day I have not experienced what I did when I first played STALKER: SoC back in 2007 on release. Sitting in my dark room, with headphones on, playing at night, absolutely incredible! Hands-down the greatest/most dreadful atmosphere in a video game for me judging from that experience! After I finished the game many many days later, all I could feel was a sense of attachment with the game world, that I couldn’t let go. That game was made with passion, and many years of hardwork(remember it was originally planned for release in 2004 as STALKER: Oblivion Lost)…And it was released a diff time in gaming. Now, I can only hope we can receive a major chunk of that experience in STALKER 2, because to get fully what we have/had with STALKER original is highly unlikely IMHO.

      1. Yeah I feel the same way, nothing comes close to the way the entire world feels, random events all alone, storms and weather conditions, those scary nights exploring close to some buildings or while entering in “Jupiter” for the very first time with those sounds all around, the “dogs” and other type of animals like Chimeras and so on.
The game never prepared you for the things you were going to see, or the things that were going to happen randomly (like being robbed by bandits, or dogs dragging and eating corpses from a human they killed, or also fighting against other animals, etc), that also made it awesome. Now it feels like games let you see what’s coming from a mile away, with those markers everywhere and such.

One game that came close to that level of immersion for me was The Witcher 3, I mean is not the same feeling but I could get lost in that world by just exploring, taking a look at those lovely storms, the sound of the wind (like in STALKER), etc.
Death Stranding is also quite engaging to be honest (I’m enjoying that game a lot for sure, the graphics and atmosphere is amazing, more simple in many ways of course).

Few open worlds can put you IN it for sure, if you know what I mean. You want to be there for real if that makes any sense.

  4. It looks amazing and i like that we are going back to cordon again. I just hope the gameplay is solid and more coplex than the vanilla SoC.

  5. Stalker on consoles means it’s DOA, I’m sure the new retarded fanbase that watches modded videos about the original games and barely plays them will love it though and all it’s hitmarkers, weapon mousewheels, objective markers and all the other handholding immersion breaking garbage, besides the obvious Metro influence which will be just as awful
I’m sure Tarkov with it’s hardcore mechanics and PC focus will look like a better sequel than this.

It’s really sad seeing my favorite franchise go down this path, I think I’ll just stick to older games and ignore this awful hobby, seeing it all wither and die while everyone claps with their teeth colored brown is just sad.

  6. While people are disapointed about this game going multiplatform, my main issue is that this feel more like a remake, with the same locations, same “secret labs” and so on. I like the Zone concept, they could take a new exotic location and add the zone elements, but then i guess a lot of people would be mad, not that i care since i played Stalker and it’s mods since forever.
